I talk to the Dev sometimes and he's been regularly working on it. I've seen him redo the portraits and other stuff etc.

You can't run it like that because it isn't a shell script. So `sh` can't parse it.
Run these two commands instead:

Meanwhile the game, after choosing start shows:
The flower moves around the screen for a while and some kind of message as shown here is displayed, also for some time. Finally it is just the background displayed.
After closing the program window no additional message appear on the terminal display.
Pros. I like the art. The story is promising.
Cons. Game is broken and unplayable. Going back to June the main complaint seems to be laser mini game is broken. It STILL is not fixed making the game unplayable.
Conclusion ditch this mess and play Parika Trainer instead. Maybe in another six months I will check back and see this game is still a broken mess.

Have not seen enough of this art to make that judgement. However I prefer the little bit of story I have seen on this to Paprika.drawings in paprikatrainer were better .

much better. probably the cutest drawings i saw. though had to ditch PT. not enough xxx.
yeah i was informed of that ... it just felt not worthy... i wanted much more options and much earlier... plus some poping-up lewd visual content when they are on the missions (not in those fighting ones) / undercover / reporting ...maybe to play as a gangmember/3rd party...or as gials to see where corruption goes...
i dont like pure trainers or datesims-into-trainers ( like rogue-like ) so i was ok with PT non-sexual actions and somewhat management part...yet i wanted at least 40-50% of trainers functionality.(and abovementioned extra)

Still not immersive for me I had to work on my art skills more and abandoning the minigame concept for the progression and going for a more management agency approach.
Yeah broken promises on the updates aside, for real I'm sorry everyone, life has a way to keep you *squishy but being stubborn is one of my best features while I look in the mirror.
I haven't abandoned the pre-production on this game it is really active behind the scenes, I'm reorganizing the progression and adding snazzy art to boot.

So I assume he uploaded the wrong version.

how do you get past the stupid bouncy flower video intro.... i am using the linux version btw...
game starts... new game... video with bouncy flower that takes literally AGES till any animation stops and thats it,.. no choices, no dialogue,.. when the flower disappears and you only see the city nothng new happens and even getting there takes 1-2minutes of watching the damn flower bounce around
