I haven't played this since Khulan came out. I loved it, but I decided to hold off until the game was finished so I could purchase it and support the dev like that.

Now I see the thread blew up to 500+ pages and these past few are brimming with negativity. Can anyone give me a crash course on what's going on?

Change "past few" for 200 last pages xDDD This thread is now an endless pit of hollow and sorrow with a fair bit dosis of sarcasm and toxicity, with some users lurking all the time in the shadows whispering to your ear "Koda needs to leave".

Jokes aside, 7th floor was initially sheduled for release in Spring of this year, but it was posponed time and time again:to june, july, august and probably we will not be seeing the 7th floor complete till january of 2020. Moreover, Koda, the cocreator, is a mess when releasing things and has an habit of saying "I will release this on march 2 and put a countdown for the release" and in the end he will say he needs more days to add a few things, postponing the release in the end 1 or 2 months. They are good developers but terrible on the comunication department.

Will 7 floor be worth a year of waiting? Probably yes, and I think this 7 floor will be the size of all other floors combined, but yeah, not everyone is ok with waiting for fuller updates and a lot will prefer releases every now and then to see the project still alive.

Personally I think they delivered time and time again good and enjoyable content, so I dont mind waiting the release of the complete floor. They released a sneek peak of the floor if you want to see what to expect.

Let me offer you a different outlook to nicknicola's, and one most people in this thread will agree with, as opposed to his.

Basically everyone's opinion of the devs in this thread has gone from favourable to godawful in this past year because of their failure to come out with any real content for 2019 (F7 is pretty much confirmed to be coming out in 2020).
Add to this the fact that it has come to light that Bo Wei, the head honcho of this game, has been unapologetically stealing the work of multiple artists, and has been lazily reusing pieces of art (sometimes even the stolen ones) to a crazy extent. Hell, sometimes he even reuses full games (Warrior Guild and Lily's floor are just rehashed versions of his old projects).
Then there's Koda, Bo Wei's co-developer. It'll be easier to tell you an anecdote in order to have you understand why pretty much everyone hates him.

Months ago, Koda announced he was working on a "Spring cleaning" expansion for Tower of Trample. He said a full version with content for all 8 girls would come out "soon" and gave an estimated release date. Then when it was about time for his update to be done, he told us that the update was unfortunately gonna get delayed, and it would only have content for 4 of the girls instead of 8, content for the other girls was still planned, but it would come out some other time, he said. Then the same thing happened again: Another delay was announced and this time we were told the update would only have content for 2 girls as opposed to 4, they would be Cobra and Lily. Then guess what? The update which was coming out "soon" for sure this time, got delayed again, and now it turned out it would be an expansion exclusively for Cobra. But according to Koda there was no reason to fret, because this new expansion was close to completion! It was gonna be huge, and once it was released, the naysayers would finally understand why it had to be postponed so many times.
Then as the release date for this elusive update neared yet again, Koda told us there was a chance that he wouldn't be able to finish everything in Cobra's expansion, but he would be releasing everything he had done up to that point as "proof that he had been working all this time". And then the date came and went. Nothing got released and there were no news from Koda. Less than a week later, Koda released a "demo" for his expansion. It barely had any content at all, most people who even bothered playing through it got disappointed and/or became angry because of it. The only thing we actually had proof of is that Koda was a lazy asshole.
After releasing this terrible demo, Koda stopped working in ToT entirely, using Warrior Guild as an excuse. That game is a lazy rehash of one of Bo's older projects, and Bo himself said it was meant to be a very short palate cleanser, supposed to tie people over between real updates, but Koda saw it as an opportunity to be even more of a lazy hack and gave it his usual "Koda treatment": Giving it vacuous updates, always saying the full version was about to be released but never actually finishing it, giving himself an entire week's time just to add a couple of lines of dialogue to fucking default RPG Maker NPC characters. That shallow-ass game has gone through so many different versions now... We're in version 0.9.9 as of a THREE WEEKS, what's left to be added to WG is supposedly a minuscule piece of content, and Koda has already announced that this month he's gonna be having surgery... Oh, and he's also travelling twice to places where he won't be able to work... And did I forget to mention that recently he's been feeling under the weather for some reason which is why he hasn't been able to work at all?
It is BEYOND ridiculous.

Keep in mind that this whole thing, which is still going on, started early into the year. It's no surprise that a bunch of people want Bo to give him the boot so he can finally fuck off. The only surprise is that some people like nicknicola still choose to defend him after all the times that they've been disappointed by him just like the rest of us.

I'm sure Bo Wei is just as lazy as Koda is, which is why he won't be releasing Floor 7 until 2020. The reason people are less up in arms about Bo though, is that he's much more subtle in his laziness and procrastination than Koda is. Some people theorize that this is the reason why Bo won't lay Koda off, because he uses him as a cover for his own incompetence. Sounds logical to me

As much as filled with resentment this is clearly coming from, the guy has a point.
I will always try to refrain as much as I can from making judgment of character, but despite that, none that was described here is innacurate.
That was the exact description of what's going on since we got 6f and the mini event introducing Miss Claus.
It is very sad what the lack of content and proper communication caused. The community is very passionate about this game, and no wonder they are.
Back then, I even made a suggestion on the ideas channel to make Miss Claus hide a mistletoe in ANY place of the tower (behind a torch, under a bed, a cracked tile on the floor, a fake wall that could be walked through, a series of riddles that could only be triggered one after the other, whatever), where it would teleport you to a secret room with an exclusive present inside or some kind of new interaction. This was supposed to be done on a frequent basis. weekly, monthly, dunno. It's something absolutely easy and quick to do on RPGMaker, I guess.
That way, people would still get immersed with the game, the community would share knowledge instead of sharing mere resentment due to the shameful lack of actual content for so much time.

Imagine finding a cool sword with cool properties, or even a different pair/model of Scarlett's shoes that would trigger an interaction when you talk to her. ("Where did you get this, boy?" * Scarlett's sadistic smile *)

Endless possibilities. Easy to do, and we wouldn't have to face such darkness.

Believe it or not, the guys on Discord went on a meme-like campaign to make Solaire a freakin' NPC.
It wasn't my idea, but I enthusiastically jumped on the wagon.


About the "EX 300" proposition... I really don't think it's humanly possible for now without relying on cheats.
The reasons are as followed:

- Currently, we lack percentage-based healing alternatives. Even Prayer, which is a fairly good skill on lower levels, becomes shitty on higher levels. Our potions are just obsolete past level 20. I have a last resource on Potion K to at least buy me a single turn, tho, but as it hampers my entire game, It's the absolute last resource. But as this save file is absolutely untarnished (zero losses/submissive interactions), I don't have the submissive-related skills.

- Currently, we also lack a decent Wind protection. Fire Cape is simply not enough. I really hope that Yoroi (Samurai armor) we ought to get in 7F offers a decent Wind protection. Without it, I don't even think I will be able to reach EX 250 Yvonne: she became a devil. IF I could face her preemptively insulated with Static Gloves and using a "Wind Yoroi" as armor, then we got game.
Fire Cape is currently helping me to make her green kick the only reliable tank/trade alternative: she kicks me, I Fire Punch her face. If she goes Purple and I'm not full HP, I'm forced to Guard, lose HP and lose a turn. If she goes Yellow and I don't lose a turn insulating = R.I.P.
EX Yvonne Yellow Kick Paralysis steals THREE turns, and she kicks twice (a colored then an extra neutral-elemental kick) per turn: it is bordering on criminal.
I can also buy some window by being purposely caught on the Leg Scissors grab: heal with Potion K and she won't do anything just once, then Remove Boots and PRAY TO GOD you can seal the deal with Strike and she doesn't go for Yellow, as you can't see now.

- There's no player-skill-dependant alternative to reduce or completely avoid damage/cause more damage yourself, like a skill which would unlock an extremely complex QTE (like 15 inputs in 3.5 seconds, fail = DOUBLE DAMAGE) in order to evade power shots, or an offensive skill to force a Critical Hit under similar circumstances (fail the QTE = MISS).

I'm a firm believer that player skill should be rewarded, and there's little in our current ToT to explore on this aspect.

I'm a little confused though, can't you improve your attack and defense using the lava and ice potions? I know there's a cap at each level but you could increase both endlessly.

Also can anybody link the one save where some guy reached a really high EX and was still "pure"(no lewd actions).

There is a realy great clean save on the ToT discord server. The guy responsible for it is Solaire I will just copy wath he wrote.
You just need to rename it like you want after you download it.

"The thing is, when asked about it, I was reluctant to share my EX Save File (Shonen Save File, EX 200 on each girl) My reasons were kinda simple: - I'm a proud-as-hell mofo. So far, the EX Mode doesn't unlock anything on the game besides personal satisfaction. If there were lots of stuff to be unlocked by achieving highly demanding EX levels that many people would not achieve due to sheer difficulty/dealing with actual disabilities, I would gladly share the file. - If I did, people would just get lazy and there would be no friendly competition. By "competition", I mean someone developing an interest in taking EX Battles to the extreme so that I could be pushed even further beyond. So, as I wouldn't share the EX file, I took a promise upon myself to create this special file to the community. My special thanks goes to the devs, to the ToT community and the friends it gave me. I hope you guys enjoy this gift. God bless.

I think this could become a "standard save file" for the ToT community, as everything is unlocked (yet untouched) and people can "stain" the file with submissive interactions as they please, whenever they feel like it.

I created this one specially for the community in order to serve as a "standard save file" where people could/would have the resources to do whatever they wanted, stain the file with submissive interactions, or just enjoy themselves as a Shonen hero who never succumbed to his lust and will go through Hell to save his friends.
A Discord member who's a great friend of mine, HolyLasagna, baptized this file as The Shonen Save.

The file contains:
- About 5 hours of gameplay
- A lv 15 Ethan with an exact 700HP, inheriting the Skills of the Ancients (Reburn, Quick Tongue)
- No losses (Scarlett included, which is the most demanding factor of the file, as beating Scarlett on the first encounter is no easy task. You have to rely on at least two criticals and pray to God that she goes for the Armpit Trap so you can throw more free shots at her. She is easily beatable by the second time you face her, tho, provided you get the Iron for the sword and the red attack potion)
- No submissive interactions (lncluding sexy items like heels/panties/pantyhose/boots, which are yet to be touched)
- A very rich inventory, including the untouched Hydroscreen & Thunder Punch Skill Books, and some spare Ancient Skill Books that I made sure to get to enrich the inventory even more. Every weapon and armor that was lost when crafting, I managed to get it again to enrich the inventory.
- Ethan is one step away from 7F stairs.

How do you use the shonen save though?

Do you have to rename the file into something else and then add into the game folder because that just loads a save file with you as level 15 with all the girls defeated and the forgotten moves equipped.

I was kind of looking for the really high EX save file though
