For me this story lasted four chapters longer than needed. It was clearly meant as one shot story.

I suppose Otis is the first real Lester error:

- he meets Sarah daily, and he had given him access to her sexually. Big error bc he can’t control their meeting, at some point he would need to go back to his HQ.
- he has missed the part where he asked her to meet again and she didn’t deny it.
- Otis has shown dominance over her, it will be easy to fuck her when he will find her isolated in near future.
- he had underestimated him the same way Dan did with him.

Otis can be a real problem for Lester. Of course if Otis is sly enough to maintain the prospective liason under the radar and depending on the usage of Lester recording.
I understand that some Lester fan could not like it, but maybe the story can be more interesting…

Based on fan comments not a lot of positive reviews about Toxic Attraction chapter 26 alpha. The Mary being condescending during their hospital meeting was a bit to overboard and long. Now we are going to see Jesse the love struck stalker. This could lead to a point where Dan could beat up Jesse which lands him back in jail. At the end of the chapter why would Lester film Otis and Sarah at the end? We know Sarah and Dan are getting suspicious after Dan‘s theory about Lester being the hacker, but makes no sense for Lester to use the video as blackmail against Sarah and Dan as a direct threat to keep quiet. Lester has always worked in the background and now he has the trust of Sarah who believes he helped save the hospital and her job while coming to her defense against Mary. No what makes sense if Lester poses as an anonymous hospital employee and fires off blackmail scheme against Sarah. Sarah will only trust one person and she will come running to Lester for help. Lester will pay off the blackmailer to save Sarah’s secret which will make her financially indebted to him or Sarah will see Lester as a protector and provider over her weak pathetic husband. Also it will stop her from seeing Otis anymore. What was the whole Discord scene with Dan? Yay Dan can figure out tech, but the scene didn’t move the needle on him getting closer to figuring out Lester. Guess we have to wait until Ned or Lizzie helps him out. By then it may be too little too late. Still hesitation on wearing Lester’s ring after she gladly accepted twice before. Go through all this build up in Ch.25, Sarah being hesitant in the beginning and ends with her admiring the ring while making love to her fiancé. Now we are back to square one and Lester has commanded her to wear the ring in public. This engagement ring scenes feels like the earlier “I love you” scenes that use to get us all worked up. I have a feeling it will play out for a couple of chapters and then suddenly disappear. She still hasn’t said “I love you” to Lester the person, but to his cock.

I disagree and just see the logic: she uses it at the restaurant and hotel event. However, she takes off the ring and keeps it so as not to have problems with Dan, she talks and everything is a ring without wearing it... She's away from Dan now, so Lester makes her wear it and she lies that it was a gift from her husband. However, she has to use it more, pick up her children from school with the ring, her daughters ask her to tell them it was a gift from daddy. When the grandparents pick up the children for the weekend, the children talk about the ring for their grandparents, it was a gift from dad to mom, all behind Dan's back.

The key element here is LEVERAGE. It's not so much about blackmail (though he would do that as a scorched earth option if all else failed) it's about control.

Lester approaches Dan - I've got damning evidence that will nuke your career (remember he has video of Dan watching as well from the apartment encounters). Stay the fuck out of my way or your toast. If Dan threatens to expose Lester to Sarah - Lester would counter with if you do that her career is nuked along with yours. If Lester isn't employed at the hospital, Sarah would get sacked too. If neither are employed or employable it would mean financial ruin for the couple.

Now Lester has leverage over Dan, saying "Sarah is mine. Stay in your lane, accept your new reality, or your cooked." It really wouldn't hurt Lester that much if either or both of them decided to expose Lester. He has the resources and abilities to create a new identity and start preying on a new target.

However Chillie, I think you are closer to what we will see, that Lester will leverage the recordings to further bend Sarah to his will thru manipulation, improving her view of him and his value to her, rather than blackmail.

TA 26 was a revelation for me and something I had been waiting for for a long time.
Firstly, Lester clearly stated his goals - the couple's divorce, dominating above Sarah in their home, while Dan entertains the children and silently watches. As we read earlier, Lester has always achieved his goals in different ways.
Secondly, he stated the path to achieving the goals, namely through financial collapse, addiction, debts, etc.
Thirdly, Sarah begins to distance herself from Dan, namely, she does not want him to earn more and return home from Chicago, does not want to see him - DS clearly writes about this and therefore there can be no doubts or other interpretations.
Fourthly, the story lost its drama in TA 26, because in order for there to be drama, the reader must sympathize/feel sorry for one of the main characters. It is impossible to sympathize/pity Dan, since he is the worst example of a man as a protector for his family, no woman in her right mind would connect her life with worthless Dan, and Sarah finally understood this, and I hope that she will understand to draw the right conclusion that the only way out is a divorce and receiving alimony. To connect her life with Lester in any symbiosis from a pregnant wife to a prostitute is a happy ending for her. The ending of staying with Dan who cannot earn money, take care of his family, satisfy Sara’s sexually and on eternal earnings far from his family is a horror and reality of the modern world.
Why the divorce of Sarah and Dan?
Because I'm not exactly bloodthirsty and I understand that if Lester implements his plan to financially ruin the Williams family, then Dan will actually become a homeless person who will not be able to find a job, in which case the humiliation that will fall on Dan from Sarah and Lester with the fantasy from DS will be hell for him. it's better to divorce if Sarah still loves him a little bit she can let Dan is looking for another woman

AND Sarah and Dan as a family is the dark or bright side for you?
For me, Lester and Sarah are a happy ending, and Dan and Sarah are a disaster.

For me, Grant and Laura are the bright side and the happy ending of your story if they stayed together and created a happy family. Now nobody could question the anomalies found on the system or monitor/trace it back to Lester.

As for the tapes, who says the tapes are not with Lester while he is in Middleton. They could be stored close by in a secured lockbox with some cash and fake IDs

Chillie, do not misunderstand me, as a story the author can decide whatever he wants and, your opinion is surely possible in this context, but it lacked totally the suspension of disbelief I prefer in this kind of stories.

Imho Lester at some point must return to his HQ, bc every person would need to do it, and I goes totally with A.Lincoln statement in real life. This is way I think the progression you are supposing is about a stereotyped story and I think this would be less interesting.

But probably my opinion is only bc I don’t like Lester Superman.

Id like to add my voice in support. Neighborhood encounters should be really dark. His concept is great, a feminist spin on toxic attraction. I loved chapter 2, I hope he doesn't take too long to update
