Hey everyone.
Unfortunately I've got some really sad news that a lot of us were suspecting would come: I am under review and we all know how that goes around here. My money is locked but I can still post and back things up so that's what I'm doing. So this may be my last semi-free post on this site. I have been expecting this and living in fear of this moment for over a year but I was hoping that by using mostly text and carefully following Patreon's purposely vague rules without taking them to a zero tolerance, zero common sense extreme, I could slip through the cracks and create something with strong literary value under the radar without being put before a council of authoritarian puritans to judge all 500k words to see if they can find a few they don't like. The rules are written in a way where they can do anything and apply any standard they want. For example, Game of Thrones, is technically the most heinous piece of smut imaginable, according to the Patreon rules (but they love it). If you ever watched that show, the creators of Patreon think you are sick and you should not be on the site. Of course that is an untenable double standard that makes no sense, so they just do whatever they want whenever they want. And creators self censor or cower in fear.
Not being able to write what I want really wore on me (it's like wearing an albatross around your neck) and got to the point where I felt Patreon's passive control and censorious shadow over art makes it the antithesis of a true art funding /creation platform and rips all soul and passion from the development unless they are producing only vanilla content. Great art is produced at the fringes and by pushing boundaries. Not here though. There is no way you can be pro art - and then take a staunchly anti freedom of speech position and force direct and passive censorship on everything created here. This almost makes me tear up, but I cannot take a project like Transfigure which I love and then remove many of the things I think are special/unique in order to please well under a half of a percent of the audience, or to avoid their narrow field of offense. I have to complete this project as envisioned, otherwise I won't be happy and neither will my readers. If I lose all my primary funding and am forced to eat cat food I will do it with a smile on my face because at least I am writing from the heart without someone peering over my shoulder with a potential obscenity checklist.
I think Patreon has again forgotten what their business is. It's a payment processing business for creators, not a political action committee. They don't fund me. You, the readers, do. They aren't the ultimate arbiters of artistic freedom. Society does that through mores and folkways. Obscenity laws for TV were awful. They are awful here too, even if self imposed.
My other point of contention is that because this is a private company normally I'd just go elsewhere but the way Patreon and the Paypal oligarchs crushed and blacklisted their free speech rivals like Subscribestar is one of the most shameful, monopolistic and evil acts against the artistic community in modern history. They need to be under anti trust scrutiny because they are stifling competition and creation with their hard nosed monopolistic approach.
So instead of writing today and creating great fiction for my beloved community, I am making backups and preparing for the purge. At 520,000 words, thousands of passages, and millions of plays I am sure I've offended a couple people. If you are offended I recommend not reading what offends you and that you try not to destroy the livelihood of people you disagree with - that only galvanizes them against you.
In case I get taken out behind the shed and "disappeared" in short order I would like to take this time to thank all the patrons that have generously supported Tango Fiction over the past two and a half years. Thank you!!! The project has evolved marvelously and I am honored to have made so many cool friends.
Please be aware I have some email backups so I can send out what people paid for even if I get memory-holed tonight. I should have a direct Tango Fiction website up soon too. If/when I get deleted the primary page will become:

So what does everyone think? Is Patreon's disgusting behavior and business practices more obscene than the arbitrary themes they seek to control? I think so. The craziest part of all this is my story is so gigantic and they haven't said what they object to. I am betting its my politics they don't like and they will merely use their weak obscenity charges to defund and deplatform me as they have others that disagree with the leadership's extreme views.
It's probably not a good idea to poke the bear but I feel I must speak my piece before I am devoured, regardless of the consequences.
Rest assured Tango Fiction will live on. I am committed to making one of the greatest adult interactive stories ever... even if it gets me banned from Communist China and those that seek to imitate her.

In recent days I have heard others complain about Patreon's policies as well. Some have been taken completely off. One person said a complaint against him was completely false -- he had no stories/images that the complaint described. Doesn't matter, he was shut down for 30 days and had to get all of his images screen once again before he was allowed back.
Don't know what happened to the days of, "if you don't like it, then don't visit it". There are millions of sites to go on the 'net. So go somewhere else if something offends you.

Drew's story is a complete disappointment. Where's Drew's dark side? unfortunately, it is not there at all. We have to do everything ourselves. You seduce Drew, you fuck him, and you decide to stay with him. It's never hot, it's very boring and anti-exciting. And it would seem such a potential! Under the mask of care and kindness, the dark side of the friend is revealed. He is in the power of lust, fucks Taylor as you like and cunningly changes the powders without letting Taylor return.
Whatever gave you the indication that Drew had a dark side? Or are you a fan of the SUBVERT EXPECTATIONS FOR A TWIST type that made Game of Thrones such a fucking shithsow? While I'm not a fan of Drew, I'm so tired of all the ALL EROGAMES MUST BE DARK EDGY RAPEFESTS theme. Transfigure has that, even in Drew's route, just not via Drew himself. If you want a dark controlling love interest, there's, um, at least 4 other alternatives to Drew who are dark controlling jerks in the same game. Let us have a sweet vanilla lump to make the contrast better.

Given the huge number that have already played without issue I don't think that is likely. The game works with two components, an html file and and an "Images" folder. The html is just text and code telling the game to access the media in "Images" if the media isn't in the folder then the game will display blanks. Please download the one marked full version which contains ALL the media and not the upgrade pack only which just includes the latest media. If you download just the upgrade the game lacks all the previous media.

Thanks for the feedback, Semurggg! The endings vary considerably so it is pretty much impossible that you will like all 100+ equally. I do have alternative Drew endings that you will likely prefer but Drew is one of the nicest and most passive characters in the game (at least at the start). So, after convincing Bloom, taking a beating for Taylor, and showing his own growth by becoming healthier and more assertive all while supporting his friend's growth/acceptance within a full satisfying life - I think they both deserve a happy ending together. Drew does have a dark side (everyone does) but it will be far more difficult to draw out. He does not wear a mask, people with Drew's mannerisms and personality type don't have the social stamina and awareness to pull off elaborate deceptions without coming off as awkward or nervous.
Exactly. The contrasting / stark juxtaposition of the various endings should allow me to successfully complete my goal with the game. Somewhat humorous, is the potential that I might be banned for "rape glorification" or something ridiculous right after I release the sweetest ending so far... Transfigure is not about glorifying a specific theme, it is about the sum of all of its parts.
Why is it almost always the case with transgender transformation games that I have to spend ten minutes reading comments and reviews before I find something to confirm that you do indeed get your junk swapped? Why don't developers put it explicitly in the description? It's weird. Whether it's a kink you're into or not it's extremely relevant information.

Well "junkswap" doesn't happen on every route but yes it is mainly a m2f transformation game, as indicated by the game description's first sentence: "Transfigure: is an adult interactive fiction (text based) browser game focusing on the male to female transformation of its main character, Taylor Roux."
I didn't define male or female because I didn't think that was necessary.

There are also detailed tags that help you sort plus an incomplete walkthrough section to direct you towards certain themes in case you want romance or more hardcore stories. Honestly I think the description it is pretty clear and I'm not sure how to make it more clear without coming across as redundant.

Not sure what you mean by your first sentence.
I will make a detailed post about my new plans once I have everything set up. As it is the patron updates will be available on Subscribe star and Patreon and then public a short time later. I am close to finishing an update but I am concerned that Patreon is about to charge users while I still have no access to the funds. It is still unclear whether I will get to keep it or if they will hold the money hostage to force censorship. If it looks like I am heading to the chopping block I will demand they refund everyone. It all kind of depends on what the council determines. Patreon is my primary funding platform so I'd like to keep it if it's possible. I am willing to make minor concessions as well but I am not compromising the core stories. I can't accept my work being deemed obscene and censored by a small group that appears to favor bestiality and monster porn while forbidding Julie and Taylor from having an innocent misunderstood kiss. That is not a fair or consistent application of the rules. Being lectured by these people about what is morally acceptable seems like the height of absurdity.

i know you said youre currently under review, so i hope im not a bother but, when wil lyou continue the lucas / Bimbo (both really) storylines? theyve been my fav and im eagerly waiting (though im awiting on bimbo a bit more since lucas got an extension)

I have a section in that T corp area I've been working on for over a year that will be added in the fall I think. Bimbo is up there in the votes so later this year most likely. I find the section with Sam to be kind of interesting too so I have worked on that area a fair bit. My commissions are closed right now but I will reopen them in the fall if someone wants to sponsor a path in these areas.

Tango Fiction Miraculously Passes Obscenity Review
Hello friends!
In a somewhat shocking turn of events Patreon has released my money (aka your generous pledges) and is allowing me to continue operating without censorship on their platform… (for now).
I can only assume this is because of the merits of my story and because of all of you. My sweet hummingbird logo along with Patreon’s recent legal defeats probably helped. Maybe there is even a resurgent desire for the company to pursue it’s alleged core goal of helping to fund the creative class. I am hopeful this will lead to a more even application of the rules across the board instead of merely using them as a tool to punish people with opinions that the company doesn’t like.
So thank you to everyone that voted in my defensive poll, left comments, and for those that are a voice of reason against blanket censorship. We can make our voices known and influence people to make reasonable and fair decisions. I am only here because of my readers and that’s never been more true than now. So to my entire audience of friends and the patrons of Tango Fiction across all platforms - thank you for the outpouring of support. I got so many encouraging messages during the past two weeks that I was determined to fight tooth and nail for my right to express myself even if it meant a near complete defunding.
Even though I think the way Patreon crushed my business growth last month and held funds hostage (without even saying a peep) was very shady I do have to give them credit for seeing reason and tacitly acknowledging the outrageous double standards that seem to exist. My game is not obscene even compared to mainstream fiction. It’s art and if they want to censor it they censor art.
I will not stop until Transfigure stands among the best erotic fiction stories ever written. So thanks for joining me on the journey and maybe fighting for a bit of artistic freedom along the way.

I can't access image on Firefox and getting advice from some I have renamed the folder but still no image. There this shortcut thing but clearly I don't get it. So can some one help me understand that?

There are three options to play the game. Two are bulletproof. Almost all issues come as a consequence of the third. The images will always work if they exist. Check the Images folder. (right click > properties Transfigure .97 has 1245 pieces of media and 1.39 gigs in the main folder. If this number doesn't match, redl the full version or use the alt link.
1. Download full version and play (launch in a modern browser like Firefox).

3. Download the upgrade pack (which is not the full version) and apply it to the previous full version.

Edit: I realized you linked to a discussion about Android use. Android instructions are as follows:
1. Download game on phone. (You can unzip on your phone or transfer the already extracted files to your hard drive)
2. Download the latest version of Firefox for Android.
3. Main screen > My files > device storage > (wherever you put the game) > Transfigure by Tango > hold finger down on html /select it > click on ... top right > add shortcut
4. Launch shortcut with Firefox and allow permission to use the files
5. Play
Known issues: picture size varies and looks odd. Game will not play without Javascript. Some have said Chrome works on Android too but it didn't show the media for some reason so use Firefox.
