Don't take it the wrong way though, i kind of get this feeling now, the content that is there is great! But with my years of being here sadly most text based games don't take off a lot or they need to be full of porn like the company, also a great game. But at first they stuffed the game with a lot of visuals and later they added more text. I don't like it either but that's the biggest group here.It is a text based game. It contains 625,000 words, making it one of the largest projects on this site. It would take an average reader about 42 hours to complete. I am about 2/3 done so stay tuned - more words are coming
In all seriousness though, if a user doesn't like to read they may find this (and other visual novels / interactive fiction) hard to get through. However there is enough content with different themes that if you give it a chance there is a high probability you will find something you like.
They already control the thread. I enjoy posting here which is why I am spending some of my Christmas morning with you all.
My goal is to produce one 10k monthly update and I have achieved that. I overproduced full time for three years straight making well under minimum wage to prove myself to the community. At 625k words Transfigure is the equivalent of two gigantic novels posted for free probably worth about $40 retail. I "promised" 10k a month to my patrons and have produced an average of 14k or 40% above what I felt was reasonable with a full time salary (despite never getting anywhere close). If the writing and that level of dedication is not enough to convince you then you may have very unrealistic expectations since I have hugely outproduced even those creators that make many multiples of what I do. The community largely decides my level of compensation and production. I do the best I can with what I have but I decided a while back that I will just put in the hours and not stress myself out about deadlines since it affects quality and my health. I write almost every day and have accumulated about 200,000 words of notes or what will be the basis of 25-30 updates or over two years of updates/production. This raises my productivity to 80% above my public goals. It's not a simple task to write a hundred story lines at once. I'm the only author in the world I know of that does this. I've nearly completed this 1 million word 100+ ending project that many deemed would be impossible to finish and I did it with a peanut sized budget. I've set myself up so I can finish the project part time well ahead of schedule at the current level of patronage (which has been flat despite my best efforts).
When I first started updates took around 30-40 hours on average to complete. Now they take about double that mainly because the quality control and standards have risen (while my dev app slows with each passage added and my dated hardware cannot cope, nor can I afford better gear). An in game edit that 3 years ago would take 1-3 seconds will often take 1-3 minutes now. The past year I've tried to put in more hours at my other jobs so that I can afford to invest more into Tango Fiction but it is a slow process. It's frustrating for me because I want to work harder for you all but I am not going to burn myself out, starve, or get ulcers just because a small percentage of people think I am not productive enough even though statistically I bet I am in the top 10% of devs for consistent updates and words produced per dollar of pledges earned.
Based on this message i can assume that you do not plan on quitting and i really appreciate that. And although you don't have the biggest patreon count 500+ a month still is a lot compared to others but not compared to the amount of effort you put in it.
