Tnx a lot for the detailed guide.
I was able to run ToN via Lutris with no problem.
Cheers. Hope my post was helpful. But the real reason I prefer to install ToN in the manner I outlined earlier is that it allows me to install, update and run the game on BOTH Windows and Linux with a single download: All I do is to download a Windows version, install it on my Windows laptop, copy the www folder and package.json file from Windows to a copy of nw.js as explained earlier to run the game on Linux, and from then on can update both systems by downloading the latest Windows update (from here) and the extract the www folder from said update from the Windows system to the game directory on Linux to get the latest version running on both systems.
One download which allows you to install/update a game quickly and easily on two different operating systems appeals to me if only for its economy as per my use of bandwidth.
Plus: Doing it the way I suggested gives you a Linux version of ToN which is basically identical with the game supplied by NTL Media only with a much more modern version of nw.js. Which I have to admit I prefer to double download or resorting to Lutris or WINE (after downloading a shitload of RPG Maker runtimes to boot).
All the best.
(Enjoy the game.)
P.S. Initially I was responding to a fellow complaining about the Linux version and wrong version of nw.js or something like it. Thinking about it he might have run into a problem which sometimes happens when people update their save files, copy the files and folders from one computer to the other, which causes a message along the lines of "... may need a new version of nw.js..." or something similar when the game is run. The easy fix for that is to go to where the save files are stored and delete all of folders/directories thereabouts but don't touch any of the the files; to be super-safe move all of the folders in the save directory somewhere else temporarily, e.g., waste basket, so that you can restore them anything goes wrong. When you run the game it should rebuild all of the deleted folders, based on the state of the game as it is, and the error message about the version of nw.js no longer appear.
Ta-da.
