I think at the end of the day, "Netorare" is the most popular form of NTR at the moment, simply because of the emotional weight. For me personally, knowing there are consequences to the sex/fling, and the MC and FMC won't easily go back to their previous circumstances adds a lot in terms of mental stimulation. And at the end of the day, we are playing porn games to be stimulated, either by interesting characters, good fucking art, or both.

I don't think you are wrong for wanting more works touching on the other two types (netorase and netori), because there are some gems under those genres too. But I think you are setting yourself up for failure by looking to a developer who has shown they enjoy making netorare focused works, and haven't advertised interest so far in touching upon those other two slices of the NTR pie. That doesn't mean it won't happen. As far as we know, it could possibly even happen on a smaller scale with the side characters in the story. But until it's clear it's what the developer wants to do, you are just going to stay dissappointed looking for anything but netorare here.

Usually, NTR means netorare, which is what I was talking about here. Because, obviously, we are talking about this game, which is obviously a netorare.
Netorase is cuckolding, basically, and has nothing to do with this game in particular. That's a completely different genre and also ntr-guy still can be an asshole in a netorase story and, like, half of them transition into netorare. Netori just fits under "cheating" tag and also has nothing to do with the discussion, it doesn't even get the NTR tag in most cases here.

Hey everyone,

As I’m sure most of you are aware, our latest update was leaked last month. Seeing as we are making adult content on the internet, we knew this would be an eventuality. However, one thing we were not prepared for was how devastating this would be for our bottom line. Of course we always expect new Patreon pledges to drop with time after a release, but the effect that the leak had was pronounced and undeniable. The leak dropped only 12 hours after our initial release and almost instantly our new pledges dropped to almost zero and have been significantly below average ever since. Overall growth in December and January has been very low and we are in a worse place financially than we were a month ago.

We really like it when people read our VNs. We like when people enjoy our work. We also understand that times are tough all over and not everybody can afford to support us. We get this. This is one of the main reasons we have always released all of our content for free after a certain period. It’s a thing we would love to continue doing.

However, creating Turning the Page with consistent, monthly updates is no easy task and is a full-time job for multiple people. Speaking frankly, with the money we are currently making, it is not a sustainable thing. It is simply not enough to make ends meet for all three of us. To get to this point, we have dug into our savings and cut back on some necessities in the hope that this may one day provide enough to sustain us.

Looking at the historic trends of our earnings, it does seem like we could get to the point of sustainability within the next year. However, to be frank, the margins are very tight right now and to say every little bit counts is a bit of an understatement. If our earnings growth continues to get damaged by leaks, the reality is that our financial situation may not stabilize in time and we may be forced to stop development on Turning the Page and seek other employment.

We really did not want to write this post, as we all know how things can be on the internet sometimes, however we truly find ourselves without an alternative. We are not a AAA game studio. We are a very tiny operation just trying to cover our costs of living, and we currently aren’t even successful at that. So please know that when our game gets leaked prematurely, particularly in the first week after release and especially on the first day, it has really significant material consequences on our livelihoods and endangers the development of Turning the Page altogether.

On the flip side, every dollar that does get pledged really is appreciated and helps us in real, tangible ways. As such, we want to give a special thanks to all our fans who have supported us since our return. Seeing the passion you’ve had for this project has been very heartwarming and inspiring. More than anything, we really want to do right by you and finish what we started.

What kind of twitter/reddit/deviantart/etc., presence do you have?

When you say 'New Pledges' do you mean you lost total subscribers or simply the rate of new subscribers has dramatically fallen? Those two things aren't the same. Total subscribers slowing, halting, or even dropping around the holidays shouldn't surprise anyone. Do you have any metrics to tell how many of your subs drop in to 'buy' the new version and then unsub until the next? I do this for various patreon funded games and I'm sure other people do this as well. Is it possible that you've just accumulated all the possible subscribers you're going to have? You can't grow forever. There is not infinite money in the DIY smut-writing business, after all.

All this to say that it shouldn't come as a surprise when the pirate website does what it's built to do. Maybe some loss is related to an earlier-than-you'd-have-liked release. But all of it? You know, maybe your team has crunched the numbers and monthly updates aren't feasible and something has to give some how. That would be a damn shame, because the project is rather good. Thanks for the response and we appreciate your skepticism. First of all, we don't want to make it seem like the leak is the only issue we are facing. We are a small developer and that comes with plenty of issues. However, this was the first month that we've had one and the trajectory of our growth shifted pretty significantly compared to previous months.

At the very moment the game was leaked, subscriptions went from a steady stream of around four or five per hour to zero or one, instantly. In previous months, the days following the release had a continuous influx of people. After that leak, the number was comparatively much smaller. Before writing that message, we spent a long time observing what was happening to take in a complete picture of what had happened, as we didn't want to post something without knowing the full picture. But based on all our data, it's clear that the leak had a pretty significant impact. There are less subscribers than there were a month ago and they are paying less on average. So it isn't just that we are growing at a slower rate, the growth was actually negative over the last month for the first time since the start of the project.

In addition, we are trying to branch out onto other websites. Itch and reddit are two examples. We already have a presence on Twitter and particularly on Pixiv, and both do help. Reach is obviously a thing we need to continue developing and while we don't yet have the reach of some other developers, the fact that they exist with the audiences they have indicates to us that significant growth is still possible for us.

So yes, while we understand that this is primarily a website for pirates, we felt it necessary to state the truth about the situation. We didn't want to stay quiet for months, not discussing the issue and then disappear suddenly. As always we want to be transparent with everyone, and the truth is that a leak in the first week and especially the first day is a huge blow for us.
