Zach is what he needs to be to blackmail and steel someones wife. We know little about him beyond that. But we know he is young, how many wives he could have stolen really ? homewrecker is what he is ? or is it result of him missing something ...
The dude expresses all the key traits of the three key personality disorders of narcissism, sadism, and psychopathy. Everything about him for the entire game is performative until suddenly he randomly starts caring about someone else, which would be a point to complain about if I actually cared. What he's missing is the ability to form human connections, which is why all he does is fuck with everyone else for the entire game until he magically grows a conscious. Either Sophie is hoarding the secret cure for all personality disorders, or the writing is shit. Given this isn't a sci-fi nor fantasy setting, it's not the former. The writing is just shit...for this path. And that's fine, because, like I said, there's multiple endings in games like this, and some of them won't make any sense.

Presumably the devs know their audience, so they went for the ending they wanted, first. Which makes business sense, I suppose.

I just check scenes and last time I checked their cover was blown, what's left to write about the game? I thought the next one would be the last?
Multiple routes, this is just one possible outcome.

that ending feels so inadecuate for a NTR game, "no rest for the wicked" is kinda the theme for most NTR endings, this vanilla option feels out of place, for me.

What did I just finish playing. From housewife to hoe to housewife. What kinda lovey dovey shit was this. Torment Felix. Give happy ending to Sophia and Zach. Never seen a NTR before that left me saying huh.

Man, stop paying attention for a little while and the world burns down. How the fuck did we end up at a happy ending for the cheaters in an NTR game? I am genuinely confused as to how we wound up here.
Well maybe you forgot, there is an ending where Sophie did not cheat and has a happy ending with Felix too, now I will return your question, How the did we end up at a happy ending for husband and wife in an NTR game ?

Bro
Take a deep breathe, Felix isnt real its just a porn game
Nah those are just the most realistic endings. Felix going postal or sophie getting discarded by zach when the fun dies out would be the expected outcomes. The most unrealistic thing here is anyone getting a good ending lol the situation is FUBAR. Wait dont tell me people actually believe zach loves sophie? Or at least he shouldnt unless the writers force it to happen like they apparently did.

As someone who doesn't really consume NTR because I don't like it (netori ftw), I have to ask: Isn't that how it usually goes? Cuck ends up miserable and cheated on, Chad gets the girl he stole, girl is impregnated/married/whatever to the Chad and is now his. Do NTR stories normally tend to end much differently than that? Again, not really my thing so I speak based solely on the few NTR hentai/games I've seen.

I hope that Azienda next game will be netorase, hotwife & cuckolding for a change and with both happy and netorare ending where MC and wife ends happy with each other and stopped the cuckolding play or wife fallen in love with the ntr guy and MC regret his decision by pushing his wife to bang other guy to fulfill his ntr fetish. I would love to see some teasing stories with the wife telling the husband how good the sex was and then see the sex scene in wife's pov

the thing is, in NTR, normally, chad "fk the girl" he doesnt "get" the girl cause he was never aiming for that, he only wants to fk the girl, force her to surrender to him, and then dump her, cause his fetiche is to just do that, having a relationship is not part of his personality, just like the guy in this game, we see him doing that to dont know how many girls, and he was totally doing that to Sophie too, but suddenly he was actually serious about her? this good ending is a flip flop a 100% change of personality for chad, that was so not him...

The ending is utter rubbish. The character traits of Zach and Sophie are such that happiness together could never survive the real world. Zack has been reduced to a bum, forced to lower himself to being a trainer. Sophie is reduced to being a teacher. Zack is a predator, who's biggest buzz was the conquest, and Sophie herself even admits that the buzz was from the taboo of cuckolding Felix. This is not a relationship that can survive the burden of mundane reality.

While it's possible their relationship could overcome the age gap, relative poverty etc., and last long enough for three children to be produced, the truth is that alcohol abuse, cheating and DV are the inevitable result of this complete mismatch.

Not joking, Zack is a functional moron who's only saving grace is his prowess at sport, take this away and he's just a bum too thick to hold the interest of a woman who's educated to Sophie's level. Not saying those two couldn't have a relationship under such differences, just that it would be Sophie that was the boss and Zack the pet. As this isn't the dynamic and Zack has nothing to bring to the table this life will get boring extremely fast and that will inevitably end with cheating and a beating.

I always have to remind people of the difference between what some Western people think of what NTR is and what it actually is , for the people in the back, from VNDB:

"Netorare is more than a simple act of infidelity, but the fetishization of jealousy and other negative feelings commonly associated with it.

For a game to be classified as Netorare the following conditions must be met:

1. The protagonist's significant other, a very close friend, or in some cases, a close relative is stolen from him by someone seducing, coercing, blackmailing, outright raping them, or by using other techniques. It doesn't necessarily mean that they are literally stolen, but the negative feelings experienced by their significant other might make it seem so.

2. The one who loses their loved one almost always finds out about the situation and suffers from jealousy and the feeling of helplessness arisen from an inability to change anything. The one stealing the lover and/or the stolen loved one might rub it in by humiliating the loser in private or in public.

3. The trait does not apply if the character having sex with someone else does not have a close loving relationship with the protagonist, and if the protagonist does not experience jealousy and other negative feelings upon finding out about the act. In other words, the ties between the partners and their forcible separation is important to the netorare fetish. For example, an unrequited crush or a potential hero(ine) on a different route would not count for the purposes of this fetish.

4. The act of stealing must happen while the protagonist is in a relationship with the stolen significant other. Scenes of heroine's past relationships do not count as Netorare.

The game is usually portrayed from the perspective of someone losing his significant other, in order to delve deep into the jealousy aspect of the fetish, however, for story purposes the game might switch between multiple POVs and also portray the events from the perspective of the stolen SO."

So this ending is an NTR classic and faithful to the genre you may not like it but hey that's the purpose

It's like going into BDSM thinking it's just slapping ass no buddy that's cute, its about enjoying pain

Your post kinda reminds me of this "after NTR ends" comic:
not the same though
ugly old dude (good at fucking) VS avg loving dude
in TtP Good looking young stud (good at fucking) with the potential of big-money success (athlete) VS a below avg teacher with a boring lifestyle (bad at fucking)
Felix's character is set up for failure from the beginning as it should be in an NTR GAME
let's be honest for a second if any woman got to secure a committed relationship with someone like Zack she would leave her husband immediately some women do it with just a lie so what do you think would happen if he was sincere like Zack in this ending

The writing was pointing in a completely different direction. And there was a LOT of exposition. Zack was presented as a totally manipulative narcissist, who cares only for himself. He was blackmailing and manipulating Brooks the entire game and there was a lot of narrative ink suggesting he was going to drop Sophie like a hot potato and disappear shortly after everything blew up.

I thought Brooks was going to get even for how Zack treated him. Instead, Brooks rewards Zack and Sophie both, which makes even less sense. Why give them a huge monetary payoff? Sophie got a Pretty Woman ending even though she treated Felix like a sadist.

Zach, meanwhile, became a responsible, professional basketball-playing puppy . . . who for some reason is still obsessed with tormenting Sophie's ex many, many years later. Why does he even spend a single second thinking about Felix? It made no sense.

I expected an outcome where Zack becomes a professional player, but also endlessly cheats on Sophie. Leopards like him don't suddenly change their spots.

Though Felix' ending is unsurprising, and to a degree apropos. . . suicide would have been a better outcome for him. His attitude toward Amy didn't make a whole lot of sense in the end. Though she enabled Sophie, it was still Sophie's choices.

The Dev built up this persona in Zack that suggested a bad end for Sophie and instead she gets rewarded for her cruelty. So, will she get a very bad end if she demonstrates any humanity? Probably. After this vomit inducing ending, I won't be around to find out.

It was like there was all of the build-up for who Zack is and who Sophie had become that ended in a finale worthy of Dexter, Lost or Game of Thrones. Disappointing.

Fully agreed.

Though, if we think beneath the surface, this becomes...not entirely unexpected.

You see, what you think makes narrative sense, but then Sophie would be the villain--or at least an accomplice. I believe the dev wants us to think that Sophie is unequivocally correct. In this light, everything makes sense.

Zack changes his 'spots' because him leaving like he should invalidates Sophie's choice to kick Felix to the curb and be with him instead. Sophie must not be wrong in doing so, thus Zack must not do what he would normally do, regardless of where the narrative was and should have been going. We can say he will keep cheating on her, but we don't know that yet.
-In this sense, Zack also does not have agency. He's stuck with Sophie now unless the dev turns it around again--but it's a literal ENDING, so...not likely.

Felix's show of agency--his attitude towards Amy--is also presented as wrong and bad. If he had directed this at Sophie, he would be completely justified and in the right to do so, which also invalidates Sophie's choice (albeit to a lesser degree)--and thus he cannot, and is forced by the hand of the author to direct it at the less guilty Amy.

Brooks...I see him as a sacrificial pawn to let this new 'twist' work because it rewards Zack and Sophie (validation), but who knows at this point.

Most things that don't make sense on the surface usually follows its own internal logic--that's what makes a plot twist work. Here, the nonsense stuff seems to follow the internal logic of 'Sophie is right'.
