I don't understand what is the problem? No other dev panicked like this and decided to remake the whole thing. Itch.io even started to reinstate the adult games back on their site.
Likely just panicked/panicking and/or assuming the worst it's already over for certain adult games only he knows I don't really blame him but he definitely is jumping the gun so to speak and not think it through as going through with a remake regardless of if we win against the censorship is to put simply not a wise decision either way as a bare minimum a waste of time no matter how this censorship ends

There is too much to censor imo, might as well cut the taboo content entirely just to have some sort of a game as a front on itch.io to cover for the real game on SS (and redirecting them on the latter).

I think he burns out easier than other devs. Then, if something like this itch.io thing happens, he latches on to it and uses it as an excuse. I really like this game, I want it to finish. I hope I am wrong about all of this...

Baibai is a great developer in my opinion. I really like this game, and I know that there would be people who would stick with him if he goes through with the remake, but it's a fact that he would lose like 70% or more of his current supporters and players if he changes the game.
People who don't care for the censored content or even want it could see him rising like a phoenix, recovering from that with the censored version and going forward. My opinion? With how he reacted to the itch.io problem, which is already in a far better situation than before, he would probably just drop the game if most of his supporters and players were to leave. I can't see him reacting any better to that than he did to the itch.io case.

I'm assuming this dude has all the scenes saved in honey select so in most scenes he can swap old "young" characters with "older" model (some scenes would need to change poses slightly but that's about it). If he actually doesn't have the scenes then mentioning a remake is ridiculous lol there's no way he's finishing it.
I'm sorry, but this is such a braindead take. That's like saying the GTA series has compelling narratives without all the antisocial behavior, and that you could take it out and still have a compelling experience. Sure there are lots of games with antisocial behavior, and most of them are slop garbage. GTA is interesting because it creates rhetorically cohesive and highly thoughtful narratives in an antisocial context. Could the GTA creators make something equally compelling without those taboo elements? Sure, but it wouldn't be GTA.
Also, the game is called TWISTED Memories. The warped memories are a result of a combination of the MC's psychosocial sexual hang-ups with his family and immediate circle as he was emerging from adolescence, and the lost potential of his life resulting from his failure to deal with those and the rocky circumstances his family faced resulting from their father figure being gone and his inability to rise to the moment when they eventually faced financial and other difficulties in the aftermath. Could you represent the same dynamic and resolve the psychological traumas that resulted in the MC warping his own memories as a coping mechanism in a platonic familial context? Sure, but that would be a very different story and would detract a bit from the compelling title of "Twisted" Memories.
It would also destroy the entire subplot of the sublimation of the MC's parents relationship through him and Alyvia, and remove the possibility of the ultimate resolution of that subplot through the eventual consummation of the MC's relationship with his mother, which is one of the penultimate motifs of this whole Freudian shebang. Again, a very different story, and one devoid of the compelling rhetorical devices enabled by an incestuous narrative. Writing that out of this would be like writing it out of Oedipus Rex. It quite literally would not make any narrative/rhetorical sense in a purely mechanical manner.
EDIT: Also fuck giving in to this censorship bullshit in the first place. I know BaiBai probably relies on this money pretty heavily, but he's still a student and therefore hopefully at a stage in his life where he can afford to stand on principle and say fuck you to the censorious assholes trying to fuck with our space. Other devs with much more taboo themes have made work arounds when even SS became hostile to their work. His work is still within SS's boundaries as long as the payment processors don't do a crazy crackdown, which has yet to materialize for SS, unlike for itch. Besides, SS was meant as a safe haven for taboo work in the first place, if we cede that space then where the fuck do we have left to fight?

I've seen many replys here about what makes this vn what it is and I agree that the more evident elements are the taboo, the age gap between the adult LI and the incest, this is the truth and also the first reason as to why I decided to give this one a go like a year or two ago.
But now after reading it and digesting the story and writing while also reading other works, adult oriented and more mainstream stories, the meat of this game is the fantasy that's beyond the "problematic" elements of it. Theres a manhwa about a dude who goes back twenty years to try and prevent the end of the world, it seems that "regression" is a common theme in that space beacuse it's an universal truth that most if not all of us have daydream about how to change a situation from the past with the knowledge of today. I believe that's the core of TM, we have the MC as the bitter man and a failure as a whole, filled with regrets and waiting to die, a perfect ground where sen sentiments of redemption or corruption can florish into the story thanks to the next part where the MC turns back to a younger age, now armed with the tools of experience, it's up to the player what road the MC takes. THAT is what keeps me coming back and what makes me promise myself to support Baibai in the future when I'm able to (also the hot milfs but shh save that for later).

All of this just really rubs me the wrong way, to the point where I’ve cancelled my subscription.
I was already not a huge fan to the changes to Emily’s model that was made recently but there was at least logical reasons for why he was doing it so I could let it slide.
however, being ready at a drop of a hat to change a bunch of the characters, models, and underlying themes that we’ve came to love is terrible. I’m not completely sure how many people on here play the corruption route over the romance route but the fact he was ready to completely change Catherine’s blackmail route and neuter it makes me scared going forward even if he decides to not remake the game. I can’t help but think even if he doesn’t remake the game he’ll continue to change plans for scenes and characters in the game (especially the corruption route) because he’ll be thinking in the back of his head “just to be safe”.
not sure I’ll ever resub to this game perhaps in the future if he doesn’t remake and after several updates.

The news is especially hard for people who enjoy the corruption aspect of the game, if the game stays the same I’m still gonna be on the lookout to see if he’s behind the scenes going easier on the corruption route i.e avoiding blackmail, avoiding hard kinks like the choking Stephanie scene at the beach etc.

Like this comment suggests. The sole fact that Baibai hasn't discarded the idea of a remake completely is already having an effect on subs, and if the remake goes through, a lot of things will change.
1- People who found and liked the game for specific taboo tags would leave, and new people looking for those tags would not find the game, limiting its exposure.
2- People who liked the older models would leave too, and the innovation of a character of an adult game going back to his youth instead of his early adult life will be gone.
3- Would people really leave in peace? No, the ones who leave may get pissed, leave bad reviews on all sites with likes or ranking systems, and throw this game further out of view. I found this game and tested it because it has a high ranking; if it had had 2 or 3 stars, I wouldn't have played it, and as far as I know, itch.io has a ranking too soo…
It's a delicate situation for Baibai. Who do you listen to? Do you trust your fans and hope for the best while leaving things as they are, or do you submit to the demands of the censors to be safe and risk your fans turning their backs on you?
As for the ones that think that the story has more to it than just the things that could get censored, it is true, but the problem is that it didn't start like that. Imagine watching a famous series, like, I don't know, The Walking Dead or Game of Thrones. You watch 4 seasons, and you are loving it, and one day suddenly they come and say that the current series is over due to religious censorship and that they will rewrite the story and remake it with less violence and blood. What do you think would happen?
If the story started without those elements, it wouldn't matter to anyone, but having to remove them after people got to love the story you originally made... how can that end well?

Personally I am in a demographic of former subs who could have theoretically benefited from the prospect of a remake. I can take or leave incest, I actively disliked the loli aspects and aging up the mc is also probably a net positive in my view. And yet I am STILL against this move. Even though I was neutral to negative on these aspects in the past, I was able to accept them as part of the wider package of the game. I was still onboard.
The remake will suck because it will slow development down further than the crawl it is already at and as others have pointed out several other fetishes and appealing aspects of the game are implied to be on the chopping block, such as blackmail. Which raises the question; what's even left? Trust is shot, any idea that this game may ever be FINISHED has been pushed into the very distant future. It is a mess.

The plot revolves around the MC fixing his mistakes in a perverted way in order to not end like he ended up in his previous life. Plot works as much if it's about some frustrated milf who still sees MC like a lil kid and two bratty step sisters lol, the incest is what you actually focus on because of personal preference. The game is classic isekai/corruption/cheating and incest is one among other dark themes. Sure the taboo fuels the gooning but that's about it, the novel works perfectly fine without it

The remake isn't good for anyone, not even the dev. He should think things over and see if things change later on. No one likes to play a game and have content they love removed and development stalled just because you're making a remake that no one asked for.
