I think that this model of branching the story or locking scenes behind choices is terrible for indie games. It usually is either a way to make you replay a game to look at the entirety of the content (which turns a considerably average sized game into a big one) or ends ups as gargatuan game that is extremely hard to develop both because of its size and by how much consideration it is required in each choice for everything to make sense.The main reason why people don't like the remake is because it erased all the progress. The way the story is told now is much better in my opinion, but the updates now take a long time to come out so it will be years until we reach the same point we were in the original.
It has been almost 8 months since the last update and we will probably not get anything for another 2 or 3 months.
