Picked it back up and played 'till the end of the update. Wasn't that bad and all the girls showing up to be there for you like in the original, it relaxed things a bit. I'm enjoying it now, there's a bunch of pretty hot scenes already if you try different things!
Now I'm waiting for the psychologist mentor path for the mom so I can do my "canon" playthrough. Threw the dev 10 bucks because why not?

in my opinion, a simple remaster of the first game would have been good, kind of like mixing the old and the premium editions. i like many aspects of the premium edition: new characters, better animations and menus, new mc (although this is subjective, at least his model is much better and he has semblance of character, good or bad). i appreciate how much effort was put into it, and so far, with the intro and everything, it's been interesting. but i really can't say i'm looking forward to the future. i'm personally a fan of sandbox stuff, where you just go about doing all the content whenever. i don't like the new gameplay style, i don't like how some characters have been changed, and i especially don't like the stats stuff, which i can only assume will gate you from some content later on. we've already seen how one simple choice can completely change up the game (which mentor you get to pick). if this new premium edition was just a remaster of the old one, with a new intro that better fleshes out new characters and the setup for the game, and then enters into the sandbox it used to be, i think it'd be a lot better. no huge focus on some new story, no big decisions; just a better polished experience.

This is just the prologue. How many times will I have to repeat this? The sandbox system has not been abandoned, Waifston said (as have I, countless times) that 'free-roam' will be back when the prologue ends. The prologue exists only to present the new story, learn things before comment about something that you don't know. That kind of comment just discourages Waifston, you guys don't know how to wait for things.

There is something called a 'search bar', the last time I checked it was working. People can also read Waifston's update notes and latest posts about upcoming plans on Patreon, if they don't have the cognitive ability to use the 'search bar'.

I had the same issue, got the level 1 addiction pop up but i didnt get the achievement.
No clue why tho, but you can look at the reward scene in the game folder.

Like I said before my main problem with the new version is that the tone of the game is completely changed from loveable to annoying characters. Nobody including MC and except maybe for that mob guy is fun and likeable and why play a game that has no likeable chars at all, only annoying ones? So no I am not glad it changed.

And i was thinking that only i was annoyed by that, also i agree with you about " the main characters must be able to garner sympathy from the players in a romantic harem, even when bad people", but since i'm a sucker for the "happy story", i have tought that was me the problem. I mean, i'm ok with some drama, but i don't like when that drama change the way that the mc act or do stuff. And i completely agree with you that the story in the other was a lot better, the way that the game is now, look like that mexican novels where the mc get fucked until the end of the game.

I don't think the story was better in the original version, I think it was more enjoyable and fun. The old version had no drama, had no difficulties to face, had no Cinderella to save. In the Premium Edition version there is a much more elaborate story (poorly elaborated, but still...), maybe we can get used to the way things are now?

Unlikely, since the characters will remind me every time what I have lost and how they were. Now if it was a complete new game, with new models, new characters and nothing reminding me of old game that might have worked though even then I would have a problem with game being a bit too much a dime a dozen and already too many characters offered on the altar of drama. Ez8it said it quite well in his posts, even if forget about old game, the premium as stands does not really do it for me cause really way too many (basically all of them) unsympathetic characters and too depressing for me and fact choices have consequences and characters are supposedly deeper and more fleshed out does not make up for those basic failings in the game for a harem game.

Edit: Fact I am not enough of a white knight too really enjoy the saving poor Cinderella does not help. Especially if Cinderella is a vat of ambiguities that is on the one hand a strong woman and on other hand is so inept she needs saving from everyone by a 1m50 equally inept male gold digger with no redeeming features, while she will also be out of the game and stalled for quite a bit before returning .

With those old models and characters though it gets even worse, since they remind me of the game I did like and loved. So if dev continues with premium as is, which is his good right and he put a lot of work in it. Damn! I agree with you about the consequences and the unsympathetic characters. If it makes you feel better, I don't think anyone will win in the end. Regardless if we stay with the Premium Edition or the old version, people will feel betrayed... I would feel that I was made a fool of myself to wait all this time if Waifston would end up working on the old version again.

The old version is at a dead end because its system is too shallow. There is nothing to tell and show apart from an accumulation of new characters to seduce.

The new version has too many story flaws. It is starting from the wrong foot and if it goes on, it will crumble at some point.

The main thing with me at least, is that i play to have fun and feel good, to have drama, shit days, problems, i have my day to day. Don't mean that i cannot like the game how is, but is really low in my priorities to play, since i prefer a good story, and something that make me fell good. Some games can do that without even having a lot of porn, just a good story, and something that you can say "damn, that was amazing". But this is my preference, everyone can like something different.

The main thing with me at least, is that i play to have fun and feel good, to have drama, shit days, problems, i have my day to day. Don't mean that i cannot like the game how is, but is really low in my priorities to play, since i prefer a good story, and something that make me fell good. Some games can do that without even having a lot of porn, just a good story, and something that you can say "damn, that was amazing". But this is my preference, everyone can like something different.

Games with good stories and good narrations tend to last longer and are more appreciated. Given how important this game is to Waifston, I can sympathize with him wanting to create a longlasting story for his game.
