While I enjoy and thinks it's better to have more update posts, I can understand it's more difficult for some to do this than others. He even mentions how some (Eternum comes to mind first) put out graphics with the update percentage on them and he can't promise anything like that even if he'd like to. I get it, especially for a new dev I imagine understanding your workflow well enough to update graphics like that consistently is probably pretty difficult on top of making the game. All that being said I'm very much looking forward to the next update, this one has quickly shot up to one of the more enjoyable avns out there
im gonna repost my review in the forum, it often helps for newcomers thinking whether to play or not:
"
I honestly fell in love with this game during the veggie-omlette dialogue.
Yes, sometimes the lengthy dialogues are too long. For example the conversations during the breakfast was rather too witty, like its ok to have 1-2, but not 3-4. You should certainly save and sprinkle those wholesome conversations in the whole game so the players dont get overwhelmed too fast. (not for me, i certainly enjoyed them because 1stly they still felt wholesome and 2ndly the ppl look really hot.. like.. all of them.. lol...
Anyways. another + point is... the humor. Omfg i was laughing my ass off all the time. The scenes and, reactions and dialogues were so amusing and funny most of the time, i was having a bliss reading all that.
Another thing would be that the mc isnt a stoic, too realistic soldier. Normally someone who came back after having seeing sh*t, they would certainly behave much more paranoid and not as open and friendly as him... and thats what i like here. Reading and playing VNs, i certainly would to enjoy and have a good time and not ntohing too realistic..
i also like that the mc told the girls early on, so we could go on with the story fast.
Anyways, this game is great and im really excited for future updates, lets goo! "
This game sure deserves more love! A whole month no (serious) post ...
I do wonder - does it leave ppl speachless? Is it just too flawless, so at least no reasons to complain (and it would need

(lets not talk about the release-frequency - I mean eternum f.e. doesnt suffer from that)
Last update came out and there was a vocal minority that acted like it was the worst thing ever. While I can't wait for the next update, I don't blame August for wanting nothing to do with this thread.

damn if it was that bad I don't blame him either. I didn't play or know about this game until 0.3 was already out so clearly I don't know where the updated ended and started but I can kind of guess and the parts that I know that were included in it I thought was the best parts of the game for me
to early to say there is no sex yet. Seems like a slow burn Harem ( had no idea it was one) never looked at the tags and didn't feel like one so far lol. So I assume you can pick but cant be sure.

Who actually cares about some minority. I mean there will always be some saying "shit" (dm intended). Either them being trolls or reading too much into resp. taken too much to heart, different expections or rly disliking something based on bad experiences. The latter is actually good, diversity and such. Hard to say which was the case here, but I dont even want to roll it up.
In any way we all know you cant satisfy everyone, there is probably no game, where you wont experience that. So again, who cares? At best I take such comments as "good to know what not to expect", though usually I dont do anyway. Some dont seem to understand whats reality and whats a (fantasy porn) game. It can even get funny, like more recent posts about what kind of realism is expected made my day.
On the contrary there are many praising it as their new favorit and such. About the writing, funny scenes/plot, surprises, LIs and rederer, soundtrack...
I love how a literal minority of two/three dudes just decided their own opinion is the popular one and all who disagree is just a minority lol.
The thread is there and, if you check the discussion, it wasnt a "minority" lol, lets not try and rewrite history. Everyone can go back a few pages and see for themselves.
Anyway, no matter how bad/awful the last update was, it is not like it killed the game or anything, people just didnt like it very much compared with the rest of the game and shared the reasons here, thats all. Thats what the forum is about, discussing the game, why you liked it/disliked it.
Not that big of a deal, you guys acting like the dev got crucified or something.
Anyway, I am eager to know where he plans to take game from here, even if I didnt like the last update. As someone putting his work out there, the dev surely understands that he will receive some criticism from time to time, just like he received lots of praise before that update or even after it, as not everyone disliked it.
I don't fully recall everything that happened in the last update. so this is my best guess why people may have disliked it.
Valentine we had no choice but to let her to stay the night at our place ( no sex) I think cuddles did happen and maybe a kiss I forget. I personally loved this part of the game and was my favorite even loved it alot more than alot of scenes from other AVN's. Because the texting scene part of the scene was super cute and funny at the same time I just loved it.
Guess #2 Lilly scene right after the Valentine one. We were forced to kiss her with no choice in the matter.
Guess #3 This one im not 100% sure if it was in this update or the previous one. But there was a face licking scene and maybe a hand kissing that was the edge of femdom stuff with Akira. But im pretty positive we had a choice to avoid it but I guess it may have seem a bit forced if we accepted it as I dont think there was any indication that it was going to be that kind of scene.
Anything else I cant recall. Sorry if all I can do is guess but a guess is better than nothing.

I don't think many had a problem with any of those scenes, it was more the change in tone of the game and the poor decisions of a MC that is meant to be a black-ops soldier e.g. letting Valentine get the drop on him in the colleg, and the MC just being more passive in general. Honestly I think how well-received/good the first 2 releases are just set peoples expectations in a certain way and the last release just suffered from success a little.

ah that part was in the last update thought might of been the update prior then yeah was that part for sure was the issue for people. I personally had no issue with it

So, I did count all that did post on from update 3 - based on if they didnt like it. No guaranty on correctnes, may I missed someone switching mind (in either direction, though it wont change much). 90 liked it, 23 disliked it and on 27 I could not determine opinions (because its not clear if they yet started the game resp. update 3 or whatever - if they did and just didnt say anything add them to the positives. So you have it white on black and green and red and blue i guess). Also there is a common rule that on 1 positive comment you may find 10 negative ones, not sure what multiplier rly to apply but sure there are a lot more who liked and simply didnt say anything.
So yes, we can talk about a minority (though not on post count if that was your point ). May we have to talk about the term itself, on if in comparision or total numbers. If your ego can't stand to be in a minority because there have been at least 22 others ... I apologise. Replace it with any matching term you feel comfortable with.
The rest I actually agree on. As I wrote - who cares (and I didnt mean wrong claims about posts of mine but on some ppl seeing things a bit differently than the majority of players). That's why I did post before. And that actually only for those not knowing of the game yet (to decide themselves).

I recommend you to not leave your day job because you wont make it as data analyst or even elementary school math teacher.
I am not going to go into why the "analysis" you did is a waste of time because I think its obvious, I am just going to refer to this comment that explains what a lot of people had issues with in the last update:
I loved 0.1 and 0.2. I saw so much potential in 0.1 that I backed the dev immediately upon its release. I loved Sam, Lily, Casper, Lua, and Fray. I found Liz Fell intriguing. The story was fun. The humor was fun. There were some interesting hints at broader stories at play. It was great getting to rescue an LI from a stalker, even if that turned into something else afterwards (and I'm a little disappointed that 0.3 suggests that the Frank choice made didn't matter except for a tiny change to the insults Akira/Valentine threw toward the MC). I was starting to actively care about the characters.
Hopefully this gives a proper idea of the mindset I had, and the excitement and enthusiasm I had for the game when seeing it was out for my support tier to play, and when launching and starting to play 0.3.
And then I started playing 0.3.
Now, I'm normally one who defends an MC NOT being a raging asshole to confident and self-possessed girls, even if they get kinda bitchy, but this entire update was basically LI after LI just shitting on the MC and the MC letting them do it with little to no complaint. If that's what the dev wants in the game, so be it, but it would have been nice to know ahead of time so I didn't waste my money.
(This is LONG, so I broke it up into spoilered sections by topic.)
TL;DR: 0.3 was a massive disappointment from a writing and characterization standpoint, it solidly ruined three LIs and the MC and damaged a fourth LI, and it directly caused me to withdraw my support and stop recommending the game to my friends, entirely on its own.
Now as you can see it is comment that is fresh and made when the update just came out and it is heavily upvoted by people who had similar thoughts 40 + (already more than those in your "analysis") yet didnt comment because it would not only be redundant but also not all people participate in the discussion, that doesnt make their opinion non existent.
We all know that most relevant discussions are had when an update just comes out, because thats when most people actually care to check the thread otherwise it is just a circlejerk of "fanboys" just jerking each other off. But I wont claim people who dislike it are a majority, because there is no actual way to validate that, I will just say that it certainly didnt go over well for a part of the audience that was enjoying the game until that point. Whether the dev cares about that doesnt matter, it is his game and he should do whatever the fuck he wants with it, but this is also a forum when we discuss the game, theres devs who dont even check this site yet people still discuss the game because its what we are supposed to do in the forum. I hope we elevate the conversation to more than just " shut up, you are a minority because I said so lol"

okay i just read the post by tiur that you quoted. I get the problem now.
I guess i'm in the minority. i like the game. I like Update 2 the best but Update 3 is fine for me. I like Akira too, she's what is called tsundere in Japanese character archetype. I think that could be what the dev are going for. Whether or not Valentine is designed for the Yandere character archetype or not, I'm not sure cuz it's been a long time since i played it.
But my general impression of the game is that, from the get-go it isn't perfect. The highs are very high but there are mediocre points too.
Dialogue is some times really funny though, i love it.
I wouldn't say i'm jonesing for next updates, but i would say if next updates comes out, i would put aside time to play it

funny thing that person's issues he had with Valentine and Akira in the 0.3 had the opposite effect on me, I ended up hating them and then loving their characters by the end of the update.

I know what tsundere and yandere are. Neither of them actually fit the bill. Tsundere characters have affection for a character, and hide it by getting fake-hostile when they're embarrassed. Akira has literally threatened to ruin the MC's life over her (completely false) assumption of his intentions. Similarly, yandere characters have an obsession over the main character and try to hurt other girls flirting with him, which Valentine doesn't seem to be doing.
Mostly, they're just controlling and abusive, and the MC takes it and, regardless of how the player feels about them, likes it.
The only affection shown so far for the MC by either of them just feels out of place due to literally every other interaction during the last update. Akira's not tsundere, because a tsundere wouldn't intentionally give a downblouse shot (though I don't like that part, either, because it is narratively unearned and completely out of character for literally every other interaction she's had with the MC). The only person Valentine has physically threatened so far is the MC, and her supposed attraction to him is based on her insistence (again, falsely-held) that she and the MC are alike.
