Common sense is absolutely not a "cultural" thing. People raised in Japan don't have more/less common sense than people raised in South Africa, or someone raised in the 2000's compared to someone raised in the 1800s.
What is cultural, is applying common sense. Particularly, not applying it due to laziness to whatever degree.

"Guesses" is a bit of an understatement, more like being able to know something instinctively.
It's like muscle-memory - Being able to perform an action with ease and at an automatic level, instead of having to consciously perform an action.

The key part is the base knowledge aspect though. In this case, being on the internet and knowing how to use a search engine at even the most basic level. Which leads us to the long-winded but apparently necessary explanation of what I've already said...
