Interesting bug. Just tried this for the first time, and it seems all the keys are unbound except for navigating the main menu. And it starts in full screen, before going to windowed mode. It also starts completely muted. Which means if you go to the level select, you softlock at the little dialogue window before the game begins because you need to press (nothing) to continue.
Going to the settings and clicking the "defaults" button does set things to what is intended, but said settings aren't actually the real default.
Thanks for reporting this, would love to squash this one. Some questions...
- is this for the newest release (v0.5.30)?
- had you installed/played any versions of the game before on the same machine?
- were any other levels (other than the first, 'Monica') unlocked when you first played this version of the game?
- was 'continue' enabled when you first played this version of the game?
- when you got softlocked in the Monica level, did it show '(z)' at the bottom of the initial text, or did it look like a square in parenthesis? Or something else?
- when you got softlocked in the Monica level, how did you get out of it? Did pressing ESC open up the pause menu?
- when you went into the settings dialogue, do you remember what settings/keybinds were there? Were they nonsensical /empty characters?
FYI on startup the game looks for a save, which is based on the version number. If it doesn't find a save for that version it starts in fullscreen mode with default controls and full volume. Sounds like for some reason it did something different for you.
Thanks for any details you can provide!
