The last time I played this, you could barely consider the Gull content gay. His content is actually pretty offensive too. He basically becomes a transgender in order to make his boss happy. You can't tell him that he's fine how he is and should live his life the way he wants to, and if you do anything other than praise his desire to want to change gender to make someone else happy, you lose favor with him. He also won't have sex with you without dressing up like a woman and putting on make up first. The angle of the sex with him also hides his front side, so you might as well be having sex with a female character. Seriously. It's really bad. If you're into traps it's fine but it's definitely not written or animated to appeal to actual gay men.
They might have changed it because the last time I played it was a long time ago, but they would have to change his arc on a fundamental level to make it better

You're playing with semantics. Gull is a male. If you're playing as a male, sex between the player and Gull is sex between two males, which is gay. You can also play as a female and peg him, I think, but the tag refers to the fact that the game has content where two or more males have sex. With each other.

Gull wants to be wanted. He wasn't getting the attention he was after, and he thought dressing up would help, so he dressed up. All his idea, and a decision that wasn't coerced in any way as far as I can tell. The relationship he was in wasn't working out for a multiplicity of reasons, not because anyone pressured him to change. That's not offensive, that's characterization. That you happen to not like. That doesn't mean it's offensive, it just means you're not happy about something.

Wrong. You can proposition him later on and tell him to skip the makeup. It's been forever since I played, but while he goes along with it he's not terribly impressed by that--implying that he
likes being a trap and prettying himself up.

In theory, he could take a potion at any time to not only change genders but completely reconstruct himself. In reality, his character exists to fill a niche: the trap. A pretty male who may or may not crossdress, and may or may not be interested in doing any penetrating. It makes perfect sense to emphasize the things most people find sexy about traps in order to better appeal to their niche. Most notably, their
femininity.
It dawns on me now that this is just one of the quintillions of fetish-based arguments, where someone complains about the existence of a fetish that doesn't appeal to them in a place where that fetish exists. A place that they are free to leave at any time, where they are not compelled to post their opinions, and where their complaints are likely to be ill-received.
