Imagine creating mods for the sake of modding and creating something for the community. Sounds retarded, right? But somehow that's how things were like 10 years ago.
Don't get me wrong, I support those who are worth supporting, many of us do. The problem is that it's maybe like 5-10% of the creators. Those who appear out of nowhere with patreon page already prepared without giving any samples of their talent are usually the most surprised that no one wants to pay them and everyone just shares their stuff. Oh, and also those whose content is so bad that no one would take it for free let alone pay for it.
Anyway, why so salty?
And even if every creator was worth supporting, it would cost hundreds or thousands of euros or whatever per month. Nobody is gonna be able to support every creator.

We can't make the same mistake than the music industry 20 years ago and assume every individual who gets something illegaly would have payed for it otherwise. People just get access to a lot more stuff now, and are more likely to actually pay for stuff if they had access to it already, because now they know it's worth it, and probably want more so supporting the creator is in everyone's interest.

That's why even the giant dickhead music companies like Warner or Universal are letting people listen to pretty much everything they have for free on streaming platforms. They know people are gonna get it for free anyway, and figured it's actually good for their business.

That said, I think creators who only put early access behind a paywall is a fair compromise, and probably shouldn't be leaked.

imagine spending 1,000 hrs creating something and just like 'rats' nobody wants to contribute or support your art but they all want to STEAL it? Nothing lower in all the universe than a thief!
Imagine charging a subscription fee for occasionally released game mods.

Here's how to actually monetize your talent with the patreon model: Release most of your work for free. Have a really low minimum patreon free. Give patreons nice-to-have bonuses to make them feel appreciated. That's how e.g. the summertime saga guy makes 60k a month. If you paywall your work it will just get less exposure. There's a hell of a lot more people who will give you 1 or 2 bucks a month voluntarily than people who will pay 5 bucks up front for paywalled content.

You're still thinking like the old record companies. If you walked into a music store and stole a record, that was an actual product taken off the shelf that could not be sold to someone else, that is theft.

With digital content, NOTHING is actually TAKEN from anyone. Sure maybe you were expecting to get paid for it but it's like you want to tax someone for breathing. I mean if someone saw your content do you want to charge someone for even THINKING about it later? Realize the cats out of the bag, there's no way to FORCE people to pay you.

Think about Metallica hating on napster while supposedly being rock stars, people just mocked them and they actually soured a lot of fans. I never supported them after that.

Just because someone downloads something of yours for free doesn't mean you've LOST that revenue, they most likely would've never paid anyways so you didn't lose anything. Sure there are some potential profits lost but here's the thing that the entire music industry found out. By making the content freely available it actually gets much WIDER reach and those people that want to support the artist (by going to concerts) will gladly do so. They actually end up getting more of an audience and $$$ as a result.

What killed music piracy?!? Pandora/Spotify and other free streaming services

One thing that smart content creators started realizing is that people will willingly support content creators if they're honest with them. we all have to pay bills so we know what that's about. The days of strong-arming people for $$$ are over.
Just assume that you WILL not be able to prevent your intellectual property from getting out there and embrace it, people will support you if they want to. Others are doing early paid releases and free after that .

Hey all, i'm looking for looks by this author Barcoder...

That looks like a stenzelo face with elf ears morph and red skin tone. You can make that easy yourself and probably better than that. I stopped getting looks and started making my own and I surprised myself how much I like my girls more than anything out there. Like some other poster said, when you start creating your own looks and scenes, you really tune in what "YOU" find most attractive and not what someone else thinks is attractive. I already can't watch normal porn since I see all imperfections, scars and unkept body shapes from pornstars now. The 3d Mesh allows ultimate perfection. Sculpting your own cute muse to chill with you in bed while using desktop mirror overlay in VR doing daily tasks is surreal and pleasant. Give it a shot buddy.

Gemma IS Gianna, Spline just changed the name (as many others do with celebrity looks)
I feel really dumb now, as I've always enjoyed the guessing game with the creator's clever names like Cat Downtown and so on. I just thought there was another look out there I was missing. Thanks for clarifying. Finkle is Einhorn!

I seem to get some fairly good feedback on the looks/models I make and yet, I don't paywall them. Even if I did paywall some of them, I would make them free after a week or two, so it was just for people who wanted to get them earlier then others. Heck, I might even just upload them here as well. I understand that it comes from a point of frustration, but you should not consider the creation of looks/models your "job", if you expect to be able to live of it. I suspect only very few can do that. Some of the assets that has been flipped into VaM is just that. Asset flips. Some of them are hardly processed in any way and lack collision and proper light maps.

imagine to pay 1000 people who demand money for every copy of their shit that they did while suffering from idleness.
they should be grateful that their 'art' have attention at all

I am done with the free version of my next scene. It'll be released together with extended version.
Androinz : I love your work. I stopped all Patreon a while ago because of all the money hungry low lifes whining about piracy and demanding action (with a c# file delete) but with the concept of free scenes plus extended paid scenes you got one more paying subscriber incoming - and to all other "pirate low lifes" like me:

Subscribe for a month or two to show the real scum like [enter name here] that we still honor quality work.
