So I was just wondering something recently as I have been looking at some MikuMikuDance stuff (which VAM does have, some MMD scenes exist with MMD dances). I'm not an expert for the MikuMiku software that the MMD creators use to make their dancing animation... BUT... I have seen some videos / video tutorials of the procedure (or the method) on YouTube and the like.

They're basically 'tracing' the movement of real dancers from dancing / music videos (say, something like the typical K-POP stuff they're using, they watch a real video of those girls / boys bands groups and do their tracing work from there). It's basically a software that makes it possible to 'track' (to some degree) body part movements, and from there you can create or literally just replicate body movements from videos (from the dancers, that is) and that eventually becomes the MMD dance / animation file.

Now of course this is a basic description based on how newb I am on this matter but I get the gist of it.

OK... so now...

I was wondering if this sort of software is available for use with VAM?

So let me be more specific. Let's say... a porn video. Anything from softcore, solo / masturbation / dancing, to hardcore stuff... is it possible right now to use an MMD-style method of tracking movements in a video to create an animation for use in VAM?

Because if it's NOT possible right now to do that for VAM then... I hope the devs at least thought about it, because that would open the doors for quite literally an infinite amount of content for this game (well, this simulator more like, but you get what I mean). If we 'run out' of creators or if authors of animations out there (manually-made, or motion-captured ones) stop making stuff or whatever happens, we could always go use that MMD-style stuff, go on Pornhub or some similar place, find ourselves our preferred stuff and track movements, make ourselves our animation and boom, we have a new scene.

But I'm not aware right now if it's already possible. All I do know is that I'm seeing two types of animations for VAM from the Resources Hub: 1) Manually-made animations (easy to see when you see it, it's sort of janky and unnatural, can still look 'good enough' but it's easy to see when it's not organic or natural-looking), and 2) Motion-captured animations (very rare to find, expensive to make, only a few select Patreons do those, most of them are paid-for, for good reasons too... the equipment required to do that is no joke).

So yeah, possible for VAM right now or not?

You should let yourself be surprised what is doable you can do dance creation in different ways so you can do any motion , some creators also do these things and tell you it's motion captured already which in tech terms is correct it is but the method is what you describe

Doing motion capture yourself was never cheaper than nowadays before as well also once you got motion capture data you can remix it in many different ways

zhfx is the one who does the vam plugin that reads all those mmd animation files. from what I remember its a generic format that can be found all over deviantart and mega dumps for other programs.

This is not really necessary if you have VR. Its very easy to create almost any kind of animations in VR, even quest 2 is good enough for that (and its fun )

2.0 is the next version of VaM, but it's not ready/hasn't been launched. There was a quick demo version that was released a few months back which only showed basic functions for 1 character and a generic background. We've been anxiously waiting for the full release of 2.0, but I (personally) don't believe it will be out until at least late 2023 or beyond.

It seems that VAM is popular among various 3D artists making renders (and some animations too).

I was wondering if there's any "List" of known VAM creators doing 3D renders and art and so on using VAM? Because I really like the results coming from VAM, instead of typical renders usually from Blender only or from DAZ3D and other softwares.

Any recommendations perhaps from your favorite artists? Or latest discoveries from unknown / newcoming artists that perhaps deserve a bit more attention and so on? I'm curious because all I can do for now is just finding them via Google images checking for VAM stuff but I often end up on Pornhub and there's barely any description or actual artist names. I'm not just looking for videos of stuff made in VAM, but more like artists taking time to create renders, or a scene, or a small scenario / story, etc.

I enjoy that sort of thing.

When you working with VAM as a Artist you are more countable as a Tech Artist look at the Hub for such scenario creations and mini story playouts

And you are spot on VAM has something very Special compared to others an that is a very unique Look and Render Feel

Tough you can go your own directions as well if you move everything even wilder and take the PBR direction even wilder in your hands, you can meshup some crazy things.
(Though you will always be reaching a limit of the current used Unity Core and circumventing it isn't really worth the effort)

VAM has taken the path of extended scenes model becoming the commercial target of many so you virtually get a scene playout and ontop of the iteration chain is a patreon exclusive result, where most of the times the cut is seeing for example more positions as addon value.

Basically scenes get splitted in Demos (Public Release) and Full Versions (Patreon Exclusivity and other Commercial Distribution Managing Platforms).

You can also find Episodic approaches to the commercial side it's a wild mix of things some try out can also wildly mixed based on the content

On the Coder side it's code cutting features away same as normally done in the IT industry for Software projects lowering the usage space and setting restrictions in usage levels and efficiency.

With some targeting the needs of other Creators for their Commercial Success specifically with those restrictions seeing themselves as tools provider for them and their Prodcutions by now and those should pay the public free version not the avg user itself

The Early Access Model found it's place as well virtually any kind of distribution Model can be found in VAM by now as well for those with more commercial intent

For gods sake we didn't reached Pay Per View at least yet full Porn Industry Style but i wouldn't be so surprised if some Asian Mastermind comes up with it building it ontop of VAM for his Distrubution idea

Though Heck we even saw some Advertising based approaches already

Some more questions guys (sorry the learning curve for this isn't easy on me).

This is mostly about character scaling in pre-existing scenes.

So, short and simple:

1) I go to VAM's Resources Hub.
2) I find a free scene I like going by preview pictures, I download it, place it where it needs to go, it works.
3) In VAM, Desktop mode (I don't use VR-only scenes, I use VAM in Desktop mode only), I find the scene I downloaded and start it up, as mentioned above sure, it does work.

Now... the part that starts to get tough:

4) So in the scene, typical generic example would be there's a Male, and a Female (just an example).
5) Alright, now, everything works for THOSE two characters specifically.

BUT...

As soon as I want to change characters, even though I can do it, technically-speaking, it screws up essentially everything.

Now, I do understand the ' Why ' behind it. It's about a lot of variables... but the most important ones are: A) Character scaling and B) Character positioning / coordinates of the Root node in the scene.

Ok, so by changing the original, intended characters that the author of the scene used to create the scene to start with, it means that the NEW characters (well, the LOOKS, to be more specific) that I upload to REPLACE the existing ones will have different body scaling, or rather body SIZES on. The actual scaling number, per se, is usually on default 1.000. But the number means nothing, because "1.000" on character 'X' doesn't mean that 1.000 will mean that character 'Z' will be of identical height, or width, etc.

Not to mention that changing existing characters of a scene doesn't just mean that the scaling of said characters change, but also that BECAUSE the scaling changes - sometimes - the actual Root node coordinates in the scene for the new uploaded character will change.

SO...

The end result of changing existing characters in a pre-made scene = wrong body sizes for sexual acts between characters / collision of body parts AND wrong positioning (too far, or too close, or too much to the left, or too much to the right, etc).

So.... wrong sizes (because scaling differences) and wrong positioning means that your Female / Male character in said scene will now completely miss intended body parts. Example, Female does a handjob in thin air, the dick isn't anywhere close anymore (I didn't even talk about dick size differences as well on Male / Futa characters, Vs the original size from the original Male character, that's a completely different issue altogether that could have is entire thread). Another example (classic one I think by now) is the dick not entering the vagina, or completely missing it, or the dick isn't big or lengthy enough anymore; or on the contrary, it's too big and creates Physics explosion issues where both characters literally disintegrate into another dimension.

Ok...

So with ALL this said, here are my questions lol...

1) Is there ANY Plugin / Mod / Tool that actually ensures that uploading a 'Look' (new character) in a pre-existing scene will KEEP THE ORIGINAL SCALING / SIZES of the original characters intact?
2) Similar to the above, but for character Positioning (it really does go hand-in-hand, sync, with each other; character Root node positioning WILL ALWAYS vary a little bit or a lot if the new characters aren't completely 100% identical in sizes than the original ones)?

Reason why I ask this, and talk about this in the first place is because - obviously - I assume that most people using VAM do NOT only use VAM without the desire to use community character creations. Most of us don't know how to create a scene from scratch (or don't have time to dedicate to that). So we're using VAM as 'consumers' of what is being produced by the community modders. Which means that - of course - using NON-original, NON-intended characters is COMMON, I'm pretty sure. At least we WANT to.

But the difficulty in VAM is that - basically and very simply put - if you change ANYTHING in a pre-made scene, forget about it: something, somewhere, is not going to work.

There's essentially no "automation" process or mechanisms in this simulation to ensure a minimal amount of compatibility between modders' works and existing scenes that were not originally made with OTHER characters in mind. Which means the whole 'Modders Looks' category in the VAM Hub nearly a moot point and close to useless.

Basically, we "should" have to create our own scenes with those Looks we download. That's the message I get out of it. If I want to use Jill Valentine, forget it; unless I create my own scene with her, or by some miracle I happen to find a pre-made scene where the author - probably by chance - inadvertently provided some 'leeway' enough for Jill Valentine to 'fit' with the original scene setting and the other character she's going to interact with. This goes for ANY other characters I could think of.

So yeah, I'm looking for maybe some Plugins or other types of Mods I might not be aware of that could at least help a little bit in that whole process of basically 'changing something in pre-existing scenes without screwing up the whole scene'.
