i'm still quite new to vam i tried cpu patch but didn't see any diffrence i checked with task manager seems to be working like it should im getting 70 to 80 fps on vr on demo maps that already included but when i try to runjust 5fps on desktop? thats not right at all lol. test it on an empty scene. make new scene and add just one person atom. see how much you get. then add 3 lights. fps when no movement should be 100+ in your case. if not something is wrong.
things that tank fps in a scene are mostly few things:
0. soft physics. cant really it turn off without big limitations. so keep this on. also check if you accidently enabled "high quality physics" in userpreferences. its very heavy on cpu so keep that off.
1. hair with high curve density and hair multiplier. usually one or two hairs with such settings wont cause issues, but 10+ hairs will tanks fps. some creators like to do this.
2. lots of clothing with physics enabled and iterations set too high (more than 3). disable phy for ones you dont need. and vam doesnt handle more than 3 iterations well anyway, it creates more clipping.
3. lots of lights. 3 lights are enough in most cases. disable the lights entirely or atleast the shadows.
4. CustomUnityAssets or CUAs can also tank fps if they are not optimized. i have seen some scenes with cua that has absurd number of polygons. vam already runs like shit, combine it with unoptimized assets is just pain. turn them off to see if it brings back fps.
