So I guess this game is officially over, isn't it? The last time I saw a comment from the dev, he said he wouldn't abandon this game but he would focus on Highway to Hell for a while, but now even that game seems abandoned too lmao. He even closed all his accounts? What a shame.

It kind of goes back to the old cliché about sex selling. But when you're comparing games or AVNs with sex to others that also have sex, the more accurate thing to say would probably be that mediocrity sells. There are some really great games / AVNs that also do very well. But those aren't the lion's share of what succeeds, sadly.I feel you dude

If you pay attention as you go around the site, you'll see a lot of posts whining that there's not sex in the first release of a game — the first release, like buildup, story building, and character establishment aren't important. "Just get to the sex already!" As often as you see that is an indication of where culture unfortunately is: consume and move on, consume and move on. Few folks appreciate good storytelling, realistic development of relationships between characters, and having a payoff. The outcome is that developers who otherwise might keep working hard on their projects become disheartened, or even forced out by reality.

Many western eroge devs are simply too lazy to finish their games, while others just see it as an easy and quick bucks, and ditch when they realize it's not. This is why I mainly play Japanese eroge, even the shittiest ones are still at least finished.I feel you dude

It's not laziness so much as most western devs have no idea what they're doing. The majority of western games on this site come from first time devs with no coding experience or writing experience and often underestimate the amount of work involved in making these games. Most also have a real job on top of developing the games since It's usually either a quick cash grab that gets abandoned after 2 or 3 updates because they realize the amount of work that goes into these games isn't worth the little bit of pay you'd get from patreon/subscrubestar , or it's just a passion project that the dev started on the side without much planning and that keeps going until one of 3 things happens. The dev keeps working on the game until they get burnout and loose interest in the project and abandon it, 2 they have no idea where they are going with the story and just keep adding update after update like it's a sitcom until they get tired of it and make a rushed update that ends kind of abruptly, or 3 they don't have time to work on the game and do real life stuff like they're actual job since only like 5% of western devs make enough doing this to work on it full time
The first one is pretty much what happened here. The dev expressed several times that the felt burn out and lost his passion for the project and started High way to hell because of that, then quit once he noticed he was losing subscribers.

But having said that, you really thought throwing a fit like this towards the dev who literally erased almost all traces of himself on this site, (which includes his Patreon, Twitter, Instagram, Discord etc etc) and up and left for good will make a difference (other than you.... venting)?

Rather, you should ask that question over on the Recommendations and Identification forum, set up specifically for that. If there isn't already one over there, you can start a new thread. Sometimes I come back here and cast an emotional glance at this grave, and say to myself : it was nice all the same, too bad he left too soon. I think this AVN had a real charm and great potential, but it's a shame that the dev crashed all his projects.
Didn't he launch a new AVN fairly recently ? I thought I'd seen him on another game. I remember the dev stood up to someone on that other game thread and said he was 100% going to finish this new game and that VIS was definitely not abandoned in the long run, whether he was sincere or not at the time is a bit ironic. And I saw that he almost deleted all his accounts.
So I guess he's either gone or for good, or he's decided to change his identity on the net and publish other games under a different pseudonym.

I'm only trying to inform people so they will know. I do find it hilarious how many people actually get upset that I'm trying to help them out. "Don't you dare tell us that someone could report our post and get us in trouble!" A good deed never goes unpunished, apparently. I couldn't actually give a rat's ass if someone gives an angry reaction to my post, though. If you get upset that someone offers advice, that sounds like a you problem.

Excuse me if you seem to take this as a serious offense, that wasn't the point by the way ! x) I thought I'd make an innocent little tease and suggestion as a joke. Quite frankly, I couldn't care less. I had no intention of being particularly nasty or offensive, it was just something light-hearted said in a joking tone and a reminder at the same time that for those who want to, and make themselves useful in their own way, applications for moderators are open. Life doesn't always have to be serious; we all deserve to take a break and enjoy some fun.

Honestly, even when I was starting out on this site (which is years ago now lol), I don't remember myself reacting in such a way when someone informed me of such stuff esp. if it's got to do with the rules.
I think similar reactions I may get when the tired old question gets asked "Where is the dev post" in the thread?
Instead of just giving them the answer, I try to inform them to use the search function.
But at times, some reply saying "I just want the answer (i.e. gimme the dev post link now, instead of making me do a bit of search)"
Response you got, I think is what resulted from the same mindset.
