Keeping the Spirit Alive: Remembering "Watching My Wife"
Have you ever had a favorite game that left you wanting more, only to discover that the creator abandoned it? Well, that's exactly what happened with "Watching My Wife," a game that I was the translator for into Spanish.
Unfortunately, the creator of the game decided to move on, which means we're left without updates and without knowing what could have been. But you know what? I don't want to sit around feeling sorry for myself. I want to do something about it! I've created an animation that captures the essence of "Watching My Wife."
It's my way of keeping the spirit of the game alive, even if official support is gone. Here's my animation. I hope it brings back memories and some ideas of what we would have liked to see from this bad girl.

If it was me who bailed after having people supporting me and all I would at least try to make an effort to look dead. Like, create a new account? I guess if I didn't feel bad about it or such I probably wouldn't care. Still, wouldn't it be easier to just create a new account anyway?

If it were me and I were the developer, I'd make up an elaborate story. Be like:
"Hey guys, I was having a lot of fun making this game until my wife cheated on me IRL..."
There have been a number of good games abandoned lately. I wouldn't know where to even start creating something like this and realize it can be time consuming and difficult. Have to wonder if some devs get in over their heads or simply get burnt out. This game was just starting to get to the good parts and can only hope someone would take it and run with it.
A combination of both. They all think they have this really epic story to tell, one that's so gud it transcends porn. Then they end up writing themselves into a corner and can't finish the damn thing. And then there's greed. Developers who deliberately and intentionally waste our time with lots of "teasing" because they're trying to keep their Patreon going for as long as possible.
I do agree with much of what your saying. We have a number of games out here that have been going on for years now with virtually every update being just another drag through the mud tease with no real progress in the story line which would indicate some milking going on. I think one of the other problems that presents itself is too many choices and paths mostly to appease a group of people. For every choice and path an additional story line has to be created capable of tying into the main story. I would think at some point this would lead to frustration and eventual burn out causing some devs to just walk away.

Agree it could be a combination of burn out, over your head, etc.
However, I'd imagine for many of these devs, this is a side gig, not their main job.
And well, real life stuff happens, especially with jobs, and you have to focus on that leaving little to no time for side gigs.
It'd be nice to communicate that, but then IRL stuff may not be that simple, could be something much worse, and who wants to say anything about that. You just shut down, go dark, and say screw everything else...idk
I have no clue what the real story is in this case, just saying there are numerous possibilities.
Either way, this is a pretty good one, still has potential if Dev or anyone else picked it back up.
The sharing/swinging path was very good. You didn't have to be a shit/wimp husband. And your wife didn't have to "hate" you to play around.
The love/respect stats made the other 2 paths rough without being a complete shit husband and wimp, but that WT mod cheat option made that easier to work around. I'd imagine those stat mechanics made the infidelity and cuckold paths problematic, and could be a reason to just throw your hands up and say screw it...idk The cuckold path would still work even with high love/respect (similar to the sharing/swinging path), just need something to get her to pull the trigger and go for it despite the high love/respect. I guess similar could happen on infidelity path, even with high love/respect, just need that trigger to make it an "open marriage" type thing.
Any way, still so much potential. But for an abandoned game, this is the best one I've come across in terms of story, content, and potential. Despite not being complete, it has a decent "soft ending" feel to it.
A few others are close, but not disappointed they're abandoned...

IT WOULD BE one of the best games in the proposed TAGS, but it was interrupted without even having almost any action on the 2 routes that the player chooses.
It's unfortunate that the best games are abandoned and other bad ones continue and have updates. In fact, developers seem to make games by listening to pressure from comments rather than by their own conviction.
If it continues like this in a few years there won't be any more exciting games or anything, since the patrol just wants to see games that look like vanilla romance Light Novels.

Far too many good game have be abandoned as of late. I think much of the problem with so many of these games is too many choices, too many paths and too great of an attempt by the devs to appease the vanilla beans. Just about any thread you click on has endless whining about "I don't want to see this" or "I don't want to see that" and off course "its' NTR". The vast majority of those who come here are not looking for story hour at the library or a Harlequin Romance novel and if that's what your after this is not the place to find it. My advice to the devs is create your game and write your story according to YOUR vision and let the whiners create their own vanilla games according to their whims and wishes.
I know I'm beating a dead horse, but I was really excited about this game and I still feel it would've had lot of potential. I love that finally I see a MC with a smaller penis for a change. Yay, a chance for small penis humiliation! But the whole cuckolding thing.. oh man, I feel this game misses the emotional side of cuckolding by a mile.
The cheating path I really get, because clearly the MC and his wife have nothing incommon and I'm forced to play an oblivious ding dong of a husband, who has no emotional intelligence at all. I see no reason for them to be married to begin with. Sure this sad loser (bad at work, bad at sex, bad at relationships) MC pov works for some people and more power to them. I just can't get on board with having no choice but to act like an idiot.
I do get what the dev is going for, with the lack of good sex and having a small penis and how they're trying to justify the sharing/cuckolding/cheating, but it's just so clumsy and out of touch. The premise and the writing would need a lot of work. Now it's just a backwards and unhealthy approach to the kink and feels like cut and paste of generic tropes and gimmicks from cuckolding porn.
The story would need variety of choices. Play the idiot husband if you enjoy it but have a choice for a healthy and happy marriage, with two level headed characters, who discover new needs and kinks and who start to take the tumble down the cuckolding rabbit hole, by maybe a chance encounter like the wives new boss and big dicked coworkers. All of succesful cuckold relationships come from healthy relationships, not like the one in this game.
Now the game forces me to take so stupid choices for my character to lose respect for example and I doubt I'll even want to finish what little they have made so far. There should be way to slowly do some degrading acts like eating the wife out after I prematurely ejaculate inside her. Wanting to please her but doing it in a way that makes the wife think perhaps less of him. The game would need to be a lot more subtle to actually have any kind of realism at all, instead of a mediocre kink dispenser. Potential, but missed the mark.
