Hey everybody.
I hope you're all doing well.
First, we have the poll results for the hidden photos of 0.4, chosen by our Best Friend tier patrons (thank you for voting). As you can see below, Gretta and Holly are the winners and will have their photos taken by Lambert (together with Gomira).

Here's a summary of what we did this week.
Art:
Chestnut worked on various artworks and did multiple cutscenes, in addition to new expressions for Junior, as he will have a small role to play in 0.4. She will be finishing the second part of the first think quest and will start the last part on Monday.
Writing:
I am almost done with all the dialogues of the second think quest (should finish it tonight). Tomorrow I will start writing the third and final part of Myrtle's story in 0.4.
Next week's plan:
Chestnut will try to finish the first think quest. The good thing is that although we're taking a bit of time with the first quest, it is visually more complex than the second one, and things should speed up later.
I want to have all the text ready by the end of the next week so that I can start posing the many scenes we've planned.

That's all, folks.

I am massively disappointed in the voters. How can Serena not win? Blasphemy.

Yo also slight nitpick of the art, I don't get the navels of this game. It's like there is 0 definition, they are completely clear. Not saying they should all be shredded abs, but I don't think at any fat percentage do people ever look like that. There's no crevice or shade or whatever word artsy people use. It's very uncanny valley.

How about these?

I don't think there are any scenes in which a character is fully naked and doesn't have a navel.

And that was considered very fast because the develop's team only have 2 people working on the game (husband and wife, I think?)
I don't know what to say, I'm so disappointed. I mean, I understand that they are only 2 people but a game like Undertale was made in 2 years with only 1 person working on it. This game has no right taking 4 years to be made.

When do we expect the game to be fully complete? Ballpark?

I'm sorry if you're disappointed, but I do think it's a bit absurd to speak of whether someone does or doesn't have the right to take the time needed to develop a game. Each game is different, and each developer has different capacities and limitations.

The 4 years mentioned above was not my estimate. It may take less or, in all likelihood, more to complete this project.

Right now, we are a team of two working full-time on the game and doing everything we can to develop it as fast as possible without its quality taking a hit. But if we keep growing, we might add one or two more artists, and that will hugely speed things up. But we also don't want to rush into adding members to our team since we don't want it to negatively impact our quality, and it is a lot more convenient to work together in the same physical space (we are a married couple). I'm sure it can be done, though, and done well, but it's something that will need proper planning.

Your question is one that is asked rather frequently, but it's not something we're concerned about, to be honest. Our primary focus is to have one entertaining release after another. We have planned many stories, and although we won't stretch the game for the sake of it, we do want them to make sense, given each character's personality, regardless of how long it might take to finish it all.

Well it's logical the game has no right to take that long to be completed. You my good sir took all the rights for yourself and now you act like a spoiled child.

How about you create something equal and finish it in two years all by yourself? I will be around, constantly reminding you about having no right to take longer than two years. How hollow can you be in the head to compare Undertale with this? Are Undertale and WAL comparable games, mh? Just leave when no one is looking before you become a meme for the poor peasants.

I apologize if I caused offense, I didn't mean it that way and am at fault for phrasing it that way. I appreciate the work you do to the fullest but sometimes my emotions get the better off me.

I don't have to be a chef to critique the food, sir.

No offense taken. You asked a question and I answered it the best I could.

On that note, if you can quench my curiosity without revealing anything spoilery, it seems to me that Holly's main arc is nearly done, given we've gone through an entire questline with a well-done sense of progression from being a sheep milk stealing pervert all the way to a husband in all but paper. Or at least, that was the impression I've gotten.

Will that be the average length of each character's main arc? Am I underestimating how much more content there will be for Holly's story? Or is Holly an outlier in terms of length, and there are many more characters planned than we currently see?

Each character will have a different arc. Holly was a virgin and wasn't particularly interested in the MC (or anyone else). Getting her to the end had to be a bit more challenging, or it might have felt rushed.

For the 0.3 release, we decided to focus on Holly's story but also introduce several other characters and at least plant the seeds of their stories (Celestina, Gretta). We're doing something entirely different for 0.4, in that we're focusing on one character only: Myrtle. This is us learning, to be honest, and seeing what works best. From what I have done of 0.4, I think this new approach will be a lot more satisfactory, but we'll have to wait and see what you guys think.

Holly's content is not finished. She has only just discovered the wonders of sex. I think she'll one more update to cover loads of new scenes.

There are more characters planned, but their length of content and stories vary greatly (and many are part of the Main Story: e.g., Serena, Lana, Madeline), and we'll introduce them gradually as we advance.

Undertale has super basic 8-bit visuals, you could generate tons of characters, maps, UI elements, and various assets for that game in no time. Hand-drawn assets, on the other hand, take an immensely longer amount of time, especially when you have to draw hundreds of assets by yourself. I don't think it's fair to compare the amount of time it takes to develop these games when the art quality is worlds apart.
True, didn't think of it that way.
