Never heard of those so I checked out some videos. They are in the area but not quite Dungeon Keeper and not quite what I'm looking for thematically. But thanks. Good to know they are out there. There are already a couple of good japanese ones, Demonion 1-2, Venus Blood Abyss, some Softhouse Chara games, maybe some others.
Procedural social interaction is incredibly complex. There's a reason why characters in The Sims interact with an unintelligible language, floaty icons, and exaggerated motions: because its hard to make nuanced procedure social interactions. Conveying context and intent "dynamically" without making your character make questionable statements or idiotic decisions is still the realm of heavy-duty AI research. Unless you want to see your workload increased dramatically, you might need a mix of pre-made social interactions (with some variance for stats, decisions, and relationship status) and more abstracted interactions that don't rely on complex exchanges (more "Sims"-like).The reason I am asking is because I am working on a project that is a little bit tricky.
There has never been a system where you socially interact with NPCs in a procedural way that has been that good.
I am looking at games like Rai 7 and even with its potential for a space opera in a strategy game,a Crusader Kings in Space.
The interactions with the NPCs are so basic that it has no charm.
So that's why I am looking for good mechanics for Dating Sims.
But to give you an idea how my game works. You have Mafia/Werewolf style faction game or Space Station 13, where there is a Cult against the Good Mages in a school setting, think Bible Black. Cult causes (sexual)corruption in the students and you have to investigate who are the members of the cult are and protect the students from being corrupted and recruited into the cult. The students that are recruited to either faction and magically initiated can also get unique magical power for that character that can be used on a targets in a time slot, and you gain mana through sex, which might make them vulnerable to cult corruption abilities which is their own magic powers, so there is a bit of strategy going on on when you attack and defend and against who.
The problem is the Game is meant to be Replayable so I can't use normal written scripts that much.
I am also hoping for a normal Dating Sim style relationship building mechanics with the characters until they get "Recruited", and even convert existing Cult members through that relationships in a kind of love conquers all style thing.
That's just my take, though.
