VN - Ren'Py - Where It All Began [Ch. 3 Full] [Oceanlab]

Absolutely loved it. Top shelf material right here. The graphics, animations, storyline, plot development and the characters whew !!! Bang on mate. So many different paths and branchings literally had to make many saves to explore the game fully and the option to turn NTR off is spot on. Man i wish more devs would make games like this. Loved every second of playing it.

I don't bother to write those short reviews for titles that deserve less than 5 stars - just lazy like that I guess. But here for this title it might be a hybrid thing. So far the story is well written, and most of the characters, instead of falling into one specific box, are actually quite complex and have very good backgrounds. Even the MC, the revelation (that can be aquired during the camping trip) concerning his past has quite a punch. After that nothing seems as it was like in the begining of the story and I must say it is a great manouver by the dev. Unfortunately, the down side is - the graphics of first chapters, and it it those graphics that made me hesitant to write a review for this title and give it a 5 star rating. BUT, like the dev informs the player after game launch, he is working on a revamp of the previous chapters, and a preview of the revamp (the last chapters of current build 0,6), are top shelf quality and if the final version will look anything like those chapters I'm willing to chance those stars.

I must say that I am really shocked at this story, the emotions that were put through. At first, I was really skeptical due to some of the quality of the renders. The more I read the storyline the further I was drawn in. The final conversation you have with the Mcs mother is really deep.

Its pretty good, the character models and renders look great, the writing is ok, though the major conflict in the game really did not interest me, i was way more interested in the relationships between the MC and his family, thats when the writing really shines, and i wanted more of that.
There are a lot of things happening and yet it felt to me that there were not enough things happening, especially when it comes to the lewd content within a single playthrough. I will probably play this game again when it is finished, or when the next update comes out.
The presentation is great, and there are some animations, which are quite basic but are enhanced by the excellent camera animations.
Its worth trying out.

The story is very engaging, excellent original script. The models are very well done, and lewd scenes are very nice. Easy to see that this project will have multiple fun playthroughs. I am eager to see more coming from this developer and will be joining their Patreon shortly!

Cons-
The whole plot is ridiculous.
I really don't understand why this author always likes to set MC as a tragic man.
And MC has no personality at all. The whole story doesn't show what kind of person MC is. Some choices are equal to nothing...I can't see any of his advantages.
"Run away from home to avoid incest." What kind of personality is this?
So tell me, why do a bunch of women fall in love with him, including his sisters?

The plot is even more messy...
MC's memory will change with the plot.
Players will not know what Miru means to MC until halfway through the game.It can be said that she redeemed him.
But before the players know these memories, the game already asks players to choose their attitude towards Miru?
What the hell is this? When the players don't know their past experience at all, they can choose whether to abandon her or not?
Later, her role was suddenly gone. I think it was probably because the character was too ugly, so she was gone. (That family story is just an excuse. Even if you choose her as true love, she will disappear.)
And NTR only applies to Miru...This was a silly idea at the beginning, but it was obviously abandoned later.

The heroine changed in the middle of the game.Dana replaced Miru.Of course, she was obviously too hot.
Although I like Dana so much and want to fuck her so much, I don't think I (MC) is worthy of her.

Leia also transformed halfway... a bunch of rich, super hot beauties just want MC.
So what exactly is MC? It's just a little boy who is kept?
Did you know? In many other erotic games, beauties are just playthings for MC, but in this game, I feel that MC is a plaything, created to be played by women.

Pros-
Rendering, scenes, character expressions and actions...especially expressions and actions, which express emotions far more than other games, but I think these things are too wasteful to be used in this plot.

Even though I didn't like some of the preview images on the title page, this game has been sitting on my watchlist for quite some time. Today, I decided to try it after reading some of the positive reviews and I am damn happy I did.

Alongside one of the best UIs out there (many devs could learn something from the gallery this game has), the render quality in the newest version is just insane and a huge jump in comparison to earlier versions. The characters are beautiful, the game has an interesting story and there is some depth to it. I don't remember another game that had me dislike a character at first and slowly change that opinion the way this game did.

While I did not see too many sex scenes on the path I played, I hope that we get to see a lot more content with Dana in the future and that the textbox gets smaller or its background becomes more see through.

What should I say......
I had this game long time on my watch list, but I allways avoided it to download and play. Maybe because the first pics in the OP didn't hit my eye. But a few days ago, I decided to give the game a chance, and now, I regret that I didn't tried it earlier. This is one hell of a game. The characters, the story, the renders and and and ---> FUCKING AWESOME!!
Especially the story how the MC and his sis (I fucking hate the older one, can't even remember her name) treated Katie in younger years.... cutting the bears head off, ruin her cuddle partner...it broke my heart. The game really gets under your skin (if you want to) and touches you!
10/10 points for it -> one of the best VN's I've every played!! On my top ten list, actually #1!!!

The quality of these renders are out of this world!

As you play the game, you can see more and more how the devs have improved it. The difference is like night and day, and it was already pretty decent starting out, but man by 0.6 it was amazing! They all looked surrealistic, I thought I was watching a movie, if it wasn't just a single frame lol.

The story gets you hooked too, and the characters actually have depths and backstory. There is a variety for everyone here, really. My personal favorite is of course Dana. No character is 2 dimensional at all. Everyone has their woes and secrets that you get a kind of vibes from each character, really gets you in.

I'm glad it gives the option to turn off NTR otherwise my poor heart wouldn't be able to take it. And the fact that there is pregnancy involved that isn't just going to happen by the end of the game or in the ending is nuts! This is gonna be tough but I hope the devs pull through! Would love to see how the story and dynamics change because someone is pregnant during the plot.

Can't wait! This is officially my #1 most looking forward to game.

Review of 0.6

Most of these games don't have a good story to tell, stakes, or interesting characters. Not only does this game have all of those qualities, but the renders and animations are excellent. One unique thing about the game is the transitions...they're something I've never seen before and very cool.

The story starts out innocently enough then pulls you in and keeps you guessing as to WTF is going on. That's not a bad thing. You know a few things...but not enough to get the entire picture. Who do you trust? Who is behind the things happening to you and those close to you? It's a very interesting story and the stakes are very high.

The characters are all interesting as you start to get to know them, the background of your relationship with them, and where things are now.

I know the following is repetitive but I'm going to keep calling it out until devs start adding more variety. If I have a minor quibble with the game it's that most of the female characters suffer from BTS. Only Katie and Miru have average-sized breasts. I can overlook it in this game because it's such a great story with interesting characters.

The only thing that sucks about this game at it's present level is it stops before a key event...and now I want to know WTF happens!!! Damn you Oceanlab!

Side note: I think Oceanlab should be writing a movie script...I'd go see this movie...an erotic thriller? Hell yes.

Finally something fresh girls are very very different from the common. They are usually kind of crazy but I see this as a good thing cause I missed these type of girls from games. Choices seems matters and renders are beuatiful. Animitions are awesome especially at the end (v0.6 ). Game will be a little rework so we will see at the and but great great potential has in it.

I'd played it until 0.3 and it was good, then I let it rest for a while until new content were released. Now I've tried this reworked version in 0.6 and it's mindblowing, the animations, the lights and shadows, the effects, damn even the transitions are so awesome. In that aspect I believe they rised to the top (at least in the F95 "cataloge").
And I really appreciate that they dare to change the story, some authors will stuck with their early releases and "patch" the plot in the next releases without rewriting the first part even if they though of someting better

In short.. 10/10 and if I wasn't in a country with and average salary of U$s 250 I would love to become a Patreon, but sadly I'm too poor for that.

Low the twist and turns from this game the suspense the hot scenes the sceneries the characters all in all hoping for a new update as soon as possible wanted to know what will happen in the end hehe thanks for creating such a great game interesting story tho and love the harem hehe.

Man, this game is really good, it has all the qualities to be a 5 stars game, story, characters, animations, renders, writting, but one thing kept me for going 5 stars , and this thing is the short story.

Idk how many hours of gameplay this game has, but it isn't much, at least for a game from 2018, when i reached the end of version 0.6, i couldn't believe it, it was too soon...i mean, it has like 4 hours of gameplay, but i played games from 2020 that had the same amount of gameplay hours or even more. So i was really frustated, it's a pitty, it has so much potential, but i feel like the dev doesn't know how to explore this potential.

The characters, in my opinion, are so awful and the storytelling is done in a way I can't stand. Yet, despite that I can't help but admit it's got amazing writing and graphics.

I'd love to complain about his characters for a page or two, but it's really just my opinion. I either don't dislike some characters or outright can't stand them.

I went in with NTR turned off. I don't know why you kept ntr scenes with ntr censored in them. As an example: the doctor pulls off her pants, feels her legs a bit, stares at a thong on her ass and thinks about jacking off and talks about how lucky the boyfriend is. Another very, very, long scene, introducing her ex-boyfriend, features her given the option of teasing him by wearing skimpy outfits.

Actually I think this bitch genuinely hurts the game. I didn't want her on my dick, didn't enjoy almost every scene with her, I think her hair and face are the worst female model in this game, save for the fat butch girls in the all genders prison you're sentenced to(very progressive decision btw). She really plays videogames topless on a livestream and screams at her pc while you're trying to sleep? Weird, her family is looking for her and have, at minimum, extreme training, and police connections. So why would she expose her tits to get views of guys who are going share her pics across the internet?

The writing here feels genuinely bad to me. They really don't add anything to the game. If there's no relevant plot info in these scenes, I think you're better off just cutting the scenes from the game itself [in the no ntr route.]

Now, onto the past with why Katie is a degenerate, trashy ass bitch with fucked up hair and piercings all over her face. The girl portrays herself as a kindhearted victim of your bullying, but it's really not the case.

I won't go too far into it, but my own sister and I would go to war with each other at times and a few cut up toys was not uncommon. And Katie really is a loser. She blames her siblings for not being able to find a single friend in a school filled with children.

At first glance for someone who maybe doesn't have siblings growing up I can see why they would have sympathy for the girl. But I see her as someone with more fault and blame. And worse, she's not willing to apologize for anything she did regardless of whether or not you apologize for neglecting her... or even for drugging you and potentially killing you. And in order to pursue her route why exactly must we ?

Now I hate characters who I have the choice of being mean or nice to, not knowing the backstory about who is at fault. We find out later on, which makes the decisions meaningless at the time.

I didn't like the characters, and much of the story, and even the way it was written... couldn't even really fap to it either. So why th 4 stars? Much of what I didn't like was fairly subjective; I'll admit most would probably really enjoy this game. The use of animations is extraordinary and the dialogue is near-perfect given the characters. Both lesbian and ntr is a nogo for me so I didn't enjoy a large volume of the content. The only part of the story which seemed bonkers crazy impossible was the unisex prison, which I'm guessing will become legitimate soon.

Played a lot of VN games and this is now in my top 3.

The renders are excellent and the CG scenes slick as hell. The ladies are just....way too sexy! I want to collect `em like Pokemon!

Review for chapter 6 in a nutshell: If you have money you better start throwing them at this developer now. I had hopes but this update surpassed them quite unexpectedly.

Summary of PROS, I've been playing this game since it released and it was interesting the renders were OK and the story was interesting with a somewhat linear story-telling based game-play choices (which I prefer) rather than an open world exploration setting. Therefore, I kept going on with it. It however 'used' to lack sounds and an overall atmosphere. Which made overall game just above average.

Now, it has changed so much for the better. Saying the renders and animations are better than before would be a huge understatement. The renders and animations alongside the excellent ambient music have reached to such a level that I though that this game was meant to impress an animation company.

The direction of the story has also changed for the better by fleshing it out so much so suddenly, I though we were in the John Wick universe for a moment, just without the assassins (which might change in the future).

The every individual character have also been eminently fleshed out which I was starting to see in the 0.5 update. I now truly feel invested in where every character goes which is something I was not expecting in an erotic game. This includes the MC, his father, sisters, lawyer, mother, uncle and the people being a bunch of sods.

However there are some CONS, although we have an idea as to where every character is going I am not sure we will get to see the total actualization of all the character other than the sisters and the mother.

Plus, now that the liner choice based system has a lot of branching options we may vary well miss out on a lot of renders and scenes which very well might bother to a lot of people (including me) therefore a full walkthrough is necessary. As I felt I did not get to see enough.

So finally, I'd recommend making the different renders and scenes more accessible, therefore hopefully making the coding and variables stores more easier to deal with. Plus getting to see more of every character would be great.

Overall, lovely work in the latest update. I god-damn love the soundtrack choices and where this game is going. I wish the developer success, especially in these trying times due to COVID-19. Please take care of yourselves and thank you for making us enjoy our times here.

This is another amazing story! Summers gone Dev continues excellent presentation and story. The interactions are touching and deep, I am looking forward to seeing this story unfold!

The potential going forward in this story is amazing, and the multiple paths avail add much replay ability!

This is one of the best games on the site, its got a great story with likable & one or two characters I hate, but the writing is that good to make you either feel for a character or dislike them takes skill.
