Where it all began - Chapter 4 - Dev Log #17
Hello,

The plan was to get the workstation soon because my current PC can only render 25-45 renders a night, if the scene harbors a lot of characters, it's often less than 20.

Anyways, I have to postpone the buy by another month because in Germany healthcare is a must. You can't not have it.

People in Germany love to shit on the American Health care system, especially the prices, however, if you're a self employed person, I go as far and say Germany's system is worse.

In 2021 I was still in the mandatory one that most people are in, and usually your employer pays 50% of it... That's not the case if you're a self employed bibi.

To make it short, they now want an extra 4900€ payment for the 10 months in 2021. After you get your tax papers for the year, you have to send them to them, or they threaten you with the maximum charge (which is 1050€ as of now per month for the basics of healthcare).

I did switch into private healthcare by the end of 2021, and because I'm a healthy boy, it's so much cheaper and offers so much more.

To sum up, I have to pay almost 5000€, which puts my workstation plans back by a month or two. I didn't see that coming as I wasn't earning much in 2021... In Germany we have a saying "Melk den Michel." - (Milk the Michael.)

Also, I hate this country.

Chapter 3x5
Lots of work is being done; I will also soon dedicate Sundays to do postwork. Just as with SG, I stopped rendering animations until the very end. I still got quite a few still renders to do.

I will give you an update on the render count in the next Dev Log.

I'll see you in two weeks with a render count.

It's a shame that Ocean spends his energy not on creating renders, but on lies and all sorts of excuses to milk his fans.

I've said it before that even though I mock these devlogs, I do so jokingly. I appreciate that Ocean includes IRL stuff for his subs and how that stuff interferes with the development of the games. Sometimes I think he goes a little overboard with the info he includes but who cares.
Yeah, can't argue with that. Although it is curious why you decided to clarify that these were jokes, although I did not say anything about you. I think we should address this issue in more detail and maybe identify the source of your automatic negative thoughts. :Kappa:

That said, fuck yeah Workstation Arc here we come!!!
And with a side of healthcare issues too...fantastic! 8/10 devlog.
I know the Blender Arc and the Taxes Saga will be hard to beat but Ocean keeps delivering.
I'm looking forward to The Render Count documentary.

(y) Damn RL.

Yeah, but unfortunately it's not just about the annual expenses, he's talking about additional expenses that he didn't foresee, like an over-estimate of his income for some of the previous years by the taxmen. I'm sure that he'll collect the documents, get a deduction for the overpayment, but when he will get his money back? I wouldn't be surprised if it will take a year or so, bureaucracy is a tricky thing.

And if I remember correctly, the workstation should have cost him about 14K euros with all the discounts. To me, this seems like a pretty bold investment in such an ephemeral enterprise as the Miru's pussy. Don't get me wrong, it's a damn good pussy, but 14K is still the damn 14K!
Oh I can only imagine how frustrated he must feel, and german bureaucracy is legendary. Still, even criminals have to paid taxes so he better monster up those 5000k and pay up. there is no boobs physic in jail.

There is nothing ephemeral over Miru pussy, is a pussy for eternity, 14K is a barguing for it. Jokes aside, is one hell of investment, that speaks of his commitment to tell this stories, I really hope he can do that.

Looks like Miru is back on the menu boys!

XD
Of mine she was never off. I can overlook some bad nipple piercing

Ocean should be more circumspect with his Dev log as one can do some calculations which shows Ocean is making at minimum 35k euro/year-most likely a bit more " they now want an extra 4900€ payment for the 10 months in 2021"
Healthcare tax for self employed is 14.6% so the 5k euro is on top of whatever else he budgeted for which prob makes it 45K euro a year for 1 update per year- not a bad wicket

He prob should budget for a 10k Healthcare bill for next year after the steam release so no new workstation for a while longer as these figures are for 2021 not 2022 or 2023

Logs have nothing to do with it, you can go to the site and track the number of patreons. You can also see the minimum and maximum payments per month. The minimum will be about 35k per year, as you said, and the maximum will be more than 100k. But all this does not matter, because money from patreon is considered a donation and is not subject to taxes. Therefore, there are many scammers on patreon. However, if we talk about Steam, it is considered a trading platform and the money earned on it is subject to taxes.
p.s. The story about taxes in 2021, as you already understood, cannot be true, because he was not on Steam then.

Incorrect....again.
Are you saying that recently there were changes in the tax code in Germany that allow taxes to be taken from donations? What is the amount of this tax, 1-2% like in the US? Let me guess... you don't know this yourself and won't be able to answer the questions.

Although it is a log with little information about the development itself, it has a data that impacts on the remaining time, such as the bar scene in the previous up date, or the problems with the cinema scene... if what remains to be done is heavy, the optimistic calculations should be left in oblivion. Or in the next log Ocean will have an absoluty surprise. :p
The workstation arc takes on comic overtones, as the plot twists set us up to expect the unexpected. Getting the taxes in order was a priority in order to be able to take out a credit for the purchase of the workstation, as this not only allowed him not to spend all the money he had collected, but he could also charge it as a work expense for the corresponding tax deduction. So this arc is going to stretch a bit longer until it is resolved.
Miru, at least he seems to be in another scene different from what we have already seen... He advances at a steady pace.(y)

I'm out of reactions, but yes. Only difference is he does seem to be working faster, but the proof of that only arrives with an actual update. He did the cinema scene when he'd just gotten the cards, so I'm sure he's more optimised in his workflow. Regardless, he will go forward at the same pace he has been for the last three months, which is still very decent.

I had considered the expenses issue to offset earnings, some might need to be depreciated, so it won't be as direct a benefit, I guess it depends on how the rules work ...and as long as he stays within the rules so he's not rendering from prison, he can work all that out :)

And back to the better nipple rings, and a deadly Miru. That part of the future is bright.

If Ocean really cared about high taxes, he would have registered in another economic zone (for example, the Caribbean islands) and would have paid 10 times less in taxes or.....

Donations in Germany are only tax free for non-profit cooperations like WWF, Greenpeace, the local animal shelter and so on.

Guys, we talked about this. Ignore BMW kiddo. He just don't like Ocean (which I can understand) and is only trolling in Ocean games threads (which I can't understand). There's no need to blow up this thread with answering to a troll.
