the more I hear about SG it makes me less inclined to even try it. the opinion on the game is all over the place.
As one of the most outspoken critics of the post-rework SG, I'm telling you that you should really give it a try. Keep expectations in check and beware that that are currently no sex scenes. You're probably gonna end up loving it.

The thing is, the more closely you look into it, the more you think about, the worse it's gonna get. A lot of problems will become evident the more attention you pay. Therefore if you go into the VN with all this in mind and don't dig too deep, you might just end up enjoying it a lot.

Is Katie and WIAb the far better VN? Damn right it is ;)
Calm down there, cowboy. Pop a chill pill. "Far better" is a tiny bit of a stretch. Just simply say "better".

You never know when some deranged lunatic may start spamming the thread with images of old Miru...

monica is so pretty
I really like Monica, granted we have see little of her but she is right after Leia and Miru for me. Her path also seems life one of the most interesting and I love the model, even with the lack of a good skin care routine.

On the topic of Mon, I find interesting that when the girls are talking about their boyfriends dicks Mon says, " I have nothing to compare" despeite losing her virginity to William.

That might mean Ben's never gotten lucky. Saying he's probably average... maybe she hasn't seen it? I find it hilarious in that scene that Zoey talks about girth being important.

Also, everyone there knows what William did to Mon, so it's kind of a subconscious admission she hasn't done anything with her boyfriend, but she doesn't want to appear as lame as Dana.

Hi!
Came looking what goes on with one of my favourite games (even if what happened in the last couple months cooled my passion quite a bit) and it still is mostly the same old.
IMHO the ban by not sufficiently damned Patreon sent the development of WIAB in a tailspin it might not recover from. Ocean´s frantic rework of the storylines, which from what we know so far is abyssal, is evidence that instead he should have kept his cool and develop WIAB for Steam and SS only.
WIAB has always been SG´s darker sibling, where crime, incesteous relations, some mystery, sexual experiments (e.g. Miru´s possible porn career/open relationship) and implied violence are at the core compared with SG´s fluffy teen drama and limp dicks.

The new changes to the WIAB story, e.g. where nobody but Willi and Leia are bloodrelated, are suboptimal and seem to be some kind of panic reaction to the Patreon ban. You can take out the incesteous hints and events from SG without many problems, it was always a side theater, but in WIAB hints towards incest and sharing were there from the start.
I estimate the main storyline of WIAB was envisioned as the twisted, winding way Willi and Leia reconcil in the end and how they find a modus vivendi with Miru in the mix, e.g. throuple relationship. This is hinted at in SG with Ayua, who is Willi/Miru´s daughter with her personal style clearly reflecting the strong influence of Leia. Ayua has siblings and cousins, from which several might be her halfsiblings, both from Willi/Leia and/or an oops from Miru´s porn time.

The decision to change this base premise opens step by step the seams of most WIAB storylines. For instance, if only Willi and Leia are related and the obvious outsiders in the city, why did they not flee together from the start? Considering the nuclear way Willi left Wollust years earlier, why should he return if his only bloodrelation is Leia? Yes, there can be very deep familiar feelings in adopted persons, but that is something not really fitting the "devil twins" as they were.
These is just the beginning of where more and more of the storylines unravel due to the forced rewrite, the coherence of the base starting points is broken bit by bit. Maybe Ocean wants to end the game someday with a bang, e.g. Willi and Leia doing the deed at the very end of WIAB to show the finger to Patreon, but I think not.

Well, yes. It is also understandable that this is the process. If we had been unaware of the work in progress and only got the finished game, we might enjoy it for what it is rather than be disappointed by what it isn't. My approach lately has been to ask myself if I enjoy what is there rather than allow myself nostalgia. There is no outcome for either of the games that is a return, we can't cross that bridge twice.

So the wait is to see how Ocean makes the relationships compelling in his new paradigm, and what has changed in the new paradigm. We have no communication in real terms about the direction, even that short passage from the devlog was edited later according to a patreon. That could mean Ocean has decided at least one of 27 different possibilities (number is probably about as accurate as a render count), so I'm not going to guess.

What I can assume from the last devlog is that he's got a lot of content done, and he's not changing all that around, he's been continuing on that slog for both games, and he's starting to see the light at the end of the rendering tunnel. So my thoughts are, he's not frantically doing anything - those decisions about story will either have been decided or he'll flip flop as he can do. At the end, we get to see a new chapter and decide whether the story is still engaging in it's current form. Every other potential based on legacies are dead ends to hope for, and OCean's keeping his plot decisions to be revealed in the game.

THe thing that's wasting the potential of WiaB is that the longer he takes cooking, the more people are stewing waiting, the less excited people get. The sense of continuity is gone, no matter how big the update is, the wait weighs down people's expectations. I still expect (hope? Doesn't really matter) for an intriguing story. Maybe not the story I originally expected, but still a great story. The way it is able to continue is the only way I get to see more content, so continuing is good. Standing up to make an artistic point will probably end up with the game getting abandoned and blacklisted by the powers that be. Steam isn't a safe haven for everything, there are games that got rejected there for the school setting or such things.

Until there's an update, we're just all here hoping for a few new Katie renders.

It is indeed funny, though I think that being bi she has different expectations on straight and lesbian sex. Plus there are toys, some really big and thick toys that Zoey might like to play with. About Mon, I don't think that she never had sex with Ben, even if he was the most "beta" male in the planet it would stretch believability to a ridiculous degree. I think that Mon might have some difficulty with sex, but not having any sexual activity with her boyfriend? Never saw his penis? Plus I think that downplays a little of the Netori element if it is so. I interpreted the scene a little different. Given how much Ocean relays on visuals to convey emotion, the lack of a close up or something that indicates discomfort of the question asked or to give a honest answer tells me that Monica acts as she never had sex with William. Not in a sense that she repressed the memory or something like that, but like a shameful event that she refuses to acknowledge, so she acts as if Ben was the only man she ever had. This little scene I think says a lot about Mon and how she processed- or not- her trauma.

While I do agree with some of your points, it is just better to wait and see what Ocean will do. I would prefer that no change was made but if this means the death of the story I prefer the changes. I do think that Ocean can't tell the exactly same story, but he still can tell a good story and maybe even better one. Let's just wait a little before declared it dead.

About Mon, I'm just explaining how what she said could be true and not a lie. She can of course lie, or hide from her past (ie in public pretend she's only ever had sex with Ben), but her confrontation with William suggests she's not in denial, she's definitely reached anger, and stayed there. If Dana hasn't had sex with her bf (fact) and Daphne is oozing pheromones, Helen is a dry patch, why not Mon being in the frustrated category as well? There's no narrative reason that Ben has had sex with her. I'm not saying he has or hasn't, simply that either could be true, and there's a couple of ways to read what Mon's said.

And Ben IS the beta of all betas. That's why they joke about the song he wrote for Dana. So we'll find out I guess. Gina's already got the setup for Willi being a bull, so Ben will have something different to come to terms with I'm sure.

I would argue that Mon situation is different from those of Dana and Helen. Helen is in a failed marriage and Dana wants a specific feel that her boyfriends don't provide and she in unwilling to compromise. Mon seems to have a normal, maybe a bit boring, relationship; we don't have a reason to assume that she never had sex with Ben either. But I get your point, is not impossible. A bit about Mon still, she has enough reasons to be angry, but for the most part she just ignores William unless he provokes her, she evens try to be polite. She acts as if they don't know each other or he is not present. Maybe I am reading too much, but Mon is a character that I am invested in.

Yeah, am curious how Ocean will differentiate all these relationship, that all kinda has the same element to it.

I don't think that is something very likely to happen, much less soon, but we can always hope. I am hoping for a Leia Miru throuple, even if is a fouls hope.
