OK, whut? Why couldn't Ayua Zane be William Grimaldi ZANE and Miru (or whatever her real name)'s child? The Grimaldi family doesn't exist anymore. William and Leia both use Zane, and are referred to by outsiders including cops as Zane. I am pretty sure that is their actual legal last names now. Despite not being adopted or foster kids... Not comon-law adopted, probably more like once you are actually part of the family and not just an underling mook, you get the family name. That would explain why the Krayt leader is an Aranos despite being black and the other Aranos like Helen very much not being so. The families take in and uplift people to the Family even if they're not blood related.

Maybe Ocean introduced that as a custom for all the families to make it seem not so weird that the Zanes did so for William and Leia.

this is true, the game seems to be split in three, on one side you have chapter 1 and 2, the solitary chapter 3 and then chapter 4.
Even if you took out 90% of the content of chapter 3, the overall flow would be better... Still, it needs new dialogues... I don't think there will be, one of Ocean's convictions was to move forward with minimal tweaks. If there is a possibility of some more rewriting, hopefully no rework.

Tô make this change fully work it would need to be a rework, but nobody wants that, but at least rewriting some scenes and dialogue should be in the picture. My fear is that the story becomes more disjointed as it moved forward.

It's a bit of a stretch, but in my country you can change your surname in a judicial way, I could not find out how it is in Germany, since all the news lead me to a new disposition about the adoption of surnames since this year.

Tô make this change fully work it would need to be a rework, but nobody wants that, but at least rewriting some scenes and dialogue should be in the picture. My fear is that the story becomes more disjointed as it moved forward.

If chapter four is the "beginning" the more you advance the more you will notice the discordance with chapters 1 to 3. Even so, I hope there will be no rework. In this moment of good fortune it is better to move forward.

Just something to think about: If William is actually Ayua's father, Ayua's conception must be "independent" of player decisions. By the way, Ayua's mother doesn't necessarily have to be Miru. Based on her traits, this applies to two other women, one of whom is only mentioned!

It has already been officially stated that there are canon elements that do not depend on the choice of the players.
As for Ayua's mother, Miru was always the most closed for certain issues, close to the Zane family, martial artist with her own style, half-Asian, obsessed with getting pregnant... It wasn't until chapter 3 that Riri appeared, and with no real background.

I basically agree on pretty much everything. The only positives this has left (besides of course Ocean's talent as an artist) are the interactions with the side characters and all the side plots. I loved every second spent with Gina and Kat. Zoe actually grew on me and I thoroughly enjoyed their business endeavour shenanigans. The only time spent with Miru I enjoyed was the apartment tour in chapter 4. She got done dirty imo. Katie has a few moments here and there when the retarded plot isn't mentioned. And I want more from Mon and Daphne.

Everything else is an abomination in my eyes. And whatever "testers" Ocean has are certainly chimps with cerebral palsy because the amount of grammar errors is still too high for something that was cooking for over a year and a half. Render errors too. Case and point:

I disagree on one thing. I'm 99% out of this shitshow. A little toe is all I got in. And after Ocean stated Nami and the MC aren't connected to William/Miru/Katie/Leia, what the fuck is even the point of playing this trash? So the mafia family thing: is about as badly written as 90% of the mafia stories in AVNs. It's comic book mafia supervillans, not the Dark Knight reboot we deserved. Grammar and proofing, yeah, there's even renders with clipping and colour grading etc.

The things I keep coming back to though are that I actually want to know how it all connects. Most stories don't do that for me. Most I get bored and switch off. For whatever reason, I'm fine with it, while hoping that the consistency and continuity is improved by the time Season 1 Full arrives. Probably 70% of things are just poor dialogue choices. They can easily be improved.

The biggest thing missing in Ch4 is William's regret, he turns from emot gigachad to action hero gigachad. He's too certain of himself.

And there is not enough player interaction.

If this game is my guilty pleasure, it's still head and shoulders about the guilty pleasures I first found on this site.

I figure its a red herring. Someone is playing the same game William did with that Krayt member. Stir shit up, pit gangs/families against each other. The attacks are not meant to be lethal, only scare and push the orgs' paranoia up until they fuck up and do the actual dirty work themselves.

Wollust is a powder keg, and this unknown player is just trying to get the fuse lit.

Well here's a thought: Emilio and Riri are the ones that decided to get William back in Wollust, they forced Leia to approach him. Which means... Helen's muteness is a red herring. The reason is that Leia's out of control , and Emilio and Riri are worried tha it'll impact the Zanes. So who are milio and Riri? If they were Leia's hired help, they wouldn't have a say. I think they're Joe's and they were left to manage things, show Leia the ropes.

So if Leia used Helen's mute thing as an excuse, then who knows how long it's really been going on for? Long enough for the case to be handed to the feds.

I like your idea of ineffectual threats, the stones are just like the spiders. Pure speculation, but what if Emilio and Riri are trying to create a false sense of alarm? Francesco actually looks like he means business, as does the guy who intimidates Donna. The Krayt members beat people up whatever. It seems like someone wants the Zanes to be an activ family, not a family in a retirement village. That fits with the powder keg.

There's also nothing saying there's not multiple anatgonists. We also have flash backs with what appears to be Uncle Silvano taching Leia about chaos and gambits. He could be starting something. Or Leia is doing a false flag to make herself indispensable before the shitstorm, or to get Helen and Dylan looking away from her gun deals.

But it would go against the whole point of Ocean doing all this to eliminate the family relationship between William, Katie and Leia. I honestly have no idea why Ocean continues to use Zane for William.

Presumably we find out by Ch28-30 or whatever how that dynamic works. How does William become a fully fledged Zane? Possibly he has to take on the name as a condition to prove his allegiance, abandoning his own. A dead family can still be a rallying point or figure head.

Despite the new regulations about naming and name changes in Germany (it makes some names accessible which were not before), the general ruling is still as follows: Names are not for fun, so parents are adviced to give names with meaning and not idiotic stuff like "Whisky Cola" or "Bilbo Beutlin" (It was actually requested once). As for family names changes are only allowed with important reasons. And no, our flatsharers have no good reason, only a full adoption would function. But as we now know that is not the case anymore.

Not sure if that's a Latin name, but Latin Americans come in many colors, even in single families. Also, interracial marraiges exist? Also also, Helen is pretty dark skinned, but that's from tanning in the shade, right?

I seem to recall Ocean using all three variants:
If it's official, then William Grimaldi Zane
If he wants to add weight, then William Zane
And I seem to recall (not just at the FBI) that he's called William Grimaldi

But for the weight it would be more natural to say "I am William Grimaldi and I am here representing the Zane Family"

Scar was never considered a LI, so there was little to root for... that said, she was a cougar who didn't let any opportunity pass her by. Since the rework Scar was never shown as an option, so there wasn't much to root for here either.

In the US, too, but it's a very expensive process due to identity theft and financial crimes. Many states require you to pay for a full background search (over $10K) to prove you're not trying to change names to avoid debts or a criminal prosecution, etc..

Oddly enough, you can do it for free if you have a willing clerk when you get married. I was going to take my wife's name, and the clerk was going to do it, but my father blew a gasket in a big way.
