You're drinking again, aren't you? Helen is not now, nor ever was an Arano. That's Joe's family. Scarlett, Helen's sister, married Joe and became an Arano. Not sure if that's a Latin name, but Latin Americans come in many colors, even in single families. Also, interracial marraiges exist? Also also, Helen is pretty dark skinned, but that's from tanning in the shade, right?

Also: why the fuck don't I ever hear anyone simping for Scarlett, clearly one of the hottest women in this game? Something about that tiny hat....
Yeah, I meant Scarlett, not Helen. My brain is melting. :KEK:

Fair point on the interracial marriage point. Curious that he took the Aranos name while remaining a Krayt leader. Also, I guess that means the Krayts are under the Aranos umbrella? So William is stirring shit up with Joe's boys by fucking with them? Heh.

The Krayt leader is why Joe is in prison, Joe laid him out cold. Joe is the leader of the bike club. Joe is the Arano. Krayts are a gang, just pure thuggery, no need for family names, just the law of the concrete and asphalt.

Personally if we have to go in this direction I prefer to go full mafia John Wick style

Anyway my friend you forgot the biggest inconsistency: is Katie a freshwater or saltwater fish? In chapter 3 he defines her as a creature of the deep in chapter 4 he tells her to rest in his lake... I demand answers

So we have to become Godfather

But for the weight it would be more natural to say "I am William Grimaldi and I am here representing the Zane Family"
Katie is a fish from the single weird lake of Wollust. :coffee::sneaky: Salty? Sweet? She is never out of her element.

The whole Motorcycle Club (MC in this post) situation is very unclear. Are the Krayts affiliated with Joe's club, or rivals? Is Joe's club still around, or are they gone? We shall probably find out soon enough, in game time, seeing as how Joe's getting out of the joint soon.

Also, doesn't Scarlett seem too posh to be married to a motorcycle gang boss? WTF? Kata and Jacob don't seem to live in that world. Maybe Helen and Scarlett's family was filthy rich?

Well, Mav loves Spaceballs, I liked old WiaB, reworked WiaB and now bright shiny new WiaB. Yes there's issues. I'm still enjoying it :coffee::)

So the mafia family thing: is about as badly written as 90% of the mafia stories in AVNs. It's comic book mafia supervillans, not the Dark Knight reboot we deserved. Grammar and proofing, yeah, there's even renders with clipping and colour grading etc.

The things I keep coming back to though are that I actually want to know how it all connects. Most stories don't do that for me. Most I get bored and switch off. For whatever reason, I'm fine with it, while hoping that the consistency and continuity is improved by the time Season 1 Full arrives. Probably 70% of things are just poor dialogue choices. They can easily be improved.

The biggest thing missing in Ch4 is William's regret, he turns from emot gigachad to action hero gigachad. He's too certain of himself.

And there is not enough player interaction.

If this game is my guilty pleasure, it's still head and shoulders about the guilty pleasures I first found on this site.

I'm doing okay, taking my time to drink coffee and ...I don't know, not take it like this was the second coming, not take it as Jose Saramago or Salman Rushdie, but something a little ..pulpier? fictiony? Disneyish? My life wasn't in anyway hurt by reading it, and I enjoyed it. *shrugs in Italian*
Fair enough. You know I was just teasing :p

Overall I agree but...
I think there's something else lacking. Which honestly has been lacking in both his games lately. Gravitas. Which is devastating for me. I've said this about SG as well but I used to feel something while playing his games. Not anymore. The emotional heights the games were able to achieve have decreased substantially. Now any emotional peaks in a scene seem fake and manufactured. It doesn't quite hit the spot for me anymore.

The prison time for Will for example. How poorly handled was that? Did you anytime get a feeling that the time spent in there was anything other than a breeze for him? Nothing about his demeanor or conversations with Miru or the Warden denote any kind of struggle. Time spent in jail seems to have taken no toll or bother him at all.

Did you feel like the Zanes and Aranos and whatever adjacent people were in danger at any point? From anyone? Rocks? Really? Did you get the feeling the Families or the Don's or whatever Mafioso morons were a threat? I certainly did not. Fuck sakes William even says they like him too much to kill him. He just takes any kind of serious threat off the table and I'm supposed to think they are dangerous? Katie has been fucking Zoe for how long now? And she says has she hasn't seen the Giopepe's in 5 years or whatever. They don't care.

The Krayt. Have they felt like a threat? Even when they were harrasing Gina she showed more balls then those pussies. I'm not even gonna talk about the moron that got knocked out by William.

Like seriously. Leia has shown to be more dangerous to ANYONE in 5 seconds of screentime than all these morons put together. Maybe with the exception of the baldy that pointed the weapon at Donna (Wait was it Donna?!?!!?)

It's not that I hate the Mafia theme. I hate how poorly implemented it is.
It does a bad job at replacing the ic/family dynamics we had before.
It does a bad job at being believable just because of the sheer scope of the "syndicate"
It does a bad job at being taken seriously because of the silly rules they try "enforce"

The Mafia thing is gonna serve as a crutch for Ocean to shape events as he sees fit. Making up rules here and there to advance the plot. That's not good writing.

No, it's clear: Joe almost killed one of the Krayt. Krayt have expanded BECAUSE the MC's (and the families) are scattered.

kat "He had a falling out with one of the Krayt gang cunts."
kat "Dad almost killed him."
scene ad401 with dssa
kat "...Quite a lot changed when he went to prison."
kat "Krayt would've never expanded this far but... The families are scattered through the wind and so are the MCs."

Which is why I assumed Will was going to help Joe wipe out the Krayt, helping Gina in the process. Now we find out that they are more likely going to be recruited.

I know sir, I can handle the teasing. I mean I've played Ocean's games a lot right? Builds fortitude. :coffee::sneaky:

I don't disagree, but I also don't see it as the end of the road. I see how it can be improved. A puzzel that is just the edges is never the full picture. Ocean didn't handle the exposition well, but adding enough pieces down the line can change a lot of our perception.

I personally hope he rewrites classier dialogues. No changing them to be different, just making them clearer and consistent. That with a few more jigsaw pieces...

...and holy shit! Sex with someone other than Miru!!! He drops that in, and suddenly at least 50% of the current complainers Willi cum plain on her, who ever it is. :Kappa:

Edit and yes, the gravitas, that's better than they way I mentioned Willi's regret - the sense that there are consequences. And part of that is giving the players more agency.

Considering that WiaB is the first AVN that made me say "Holy shit this game has no right to hit me this hard" I can't agree and subscribe to all the examples you gave.

Well, that's Leia's plan, not Willi's. She's not necessarily going to have things go her way. Willi's stunt plus Miru's intel gathering with knives might mean irreparable harm to Leia's plans. And Leia's goals still might not get what she wanted anyway - taking all their business in order to make friends with them? That can't backfire at all.

Not to mention how dumb and overambitious the current Krayt boss and membership seems to be. They think they're big, now that shit's gone sideways for the Zanes and other gangs. I imagine that the comatose Krayt boss used to keep the current boss on a tight leash, but nobody's holding the reins now.

Considering Leia's offer includes armaments, you think they will turn that down over William slapping a grunt?

If they feel disrespected over all, yeah. I fthey feel she's just trying to use them when they can get what they want other ways, yeah, they'd walk from the deal. Remember what they said to her?

Wait for the marathon version with S2Ch1. I still suspect there will be some minor script changes to SG S1 at that time. based on this release.

Isn't it stated everyone else is staying away from dealing arms because it's too dangerous?

Also, nobody outside the Miru and the Zanes know William slapped the Krayt so it seems like a moot point.
