I for one, am at least curious what the new version will look like. I never played the original version, but enjoyed the reworked one.
I do have a little trouble understanding how the removal of the incest and family stuff would work, but it'll be fun to see. In some respects it might just be easier to view it as an entirely new game, as its own thing, and not compare it to the older versions too much.
Guess we'll find out in a few days.
What would really make me mad though is if there is even more boob inflation and I have to give up on Miru.

Well, that is not the problem here. That rework was good and needed. It is his newest "stroke of genius" remaking WIAB from a dark crime story into a kiddy soap opera! The story simply has lost coherence and does not function anymore. You cannot remake a crime story into an episode of Pippi Longstocking (all the new adoptees and landlords/ladies sitting in the sunshine for breakfast like Pippi, Peter and Annika because their backgrounds were wiped out and rewritten) and think that the fan base will suck this up.

Coherence is a word that has absolutely nothing to do with the old WiAB. It was a collection of disjoined, loosely connected episodes that barely tied into a coherent plot. Now there is at least some sense in all these interactions and conversations of characters, at least it is clear who they are, where they came from and how they are connected to each other.
If the old WiAB was a noir - I don't want to know anything about such a noir, I have a completely different idea of it.
You missunderstand the point! The old ch. 5+6 (were Ocean began to get traction into a right direction) and the new 1-3 were a crime noir story in the making! You're a beta tester and have you seen chapter 4? Other than new ch1-3, nothing else came out as far as I know. If new chapters were noir (man, it's really hard to follow the rules in these threads, let's just say my idea of noir is quite different), then what changed? So what rewriting are you talking about, the devlogs only have vague hints of new content and all we have are these stupid assumptions in this thread based on their own guesses and theories.Yes, I see this!And I still don't get it.
But to help you, the last 2 od old and the first 3 of the new WIAB were all about the Zane family, which is at least partly in the criminal underbelly of their home city. The older twins Willi and Leia were rascals/bullies and on their way into an incestous realtionship, the younger child Kati a case for the nut house and so on. Willi fled for currently unknown reason in night and fog, but returns after his Mom became mute due to an accident or murder attempt. The home city has a serious gang problem and the Zane family is now fully involved in criminal "undertakings". Miru both new and old has also contact with criminal organisations. We are on our way towards a crime story with noir sprinklings like the family situation possibly blowing up.But that will now never happen since Ocean decided to make them all landlords/ladies and adopted children, the whole assinie crap we see thanks to bigots at Patreon. The story simply does not work like this. e.g. Willi, who already fled the city, has zero reason to return into his disfunctional foster family. (While adopted kids can develop deep roots, as dysfunctional the Zane family was it is hard to swallow that he would return at all)

There is a primary reason for a foster child return to their family - the love and the deepest connection they developed to their foster parents. This topic is exploited in many good VNs and it's only up to the players if they accept the possibility of deep ties between the foster family members.
Moreover, one of my favorite games is based on the MC's conflict between his belief that he needs blood relatives to be happy and live a full life and because of this he pushes away and neglects those people who were close to him and essentially replaced his family all these years.
To each their own.

Why not reserve judgement until we've actually seen the new stuff? It could be a clever remake/reimagining, an utter letdown or something in between.

Still a Patreon violation. Incest taboos also cover non blood family relations. This is of course if Patreon violations still matter for reasons of protecting SG.(Though that should be easy to avoid by just not mentioning sexual relations of wiab family members in sg)
The money is on utter letdown, but we will see if he can make a good remake of the remale again. I am very sceptical this time around, since the way the story was structured, cannot be altered too much. We already saw the seams breaking apart with the teasers.
If you read my post, I also said that deep connections between foster family members are possible and happen. But in WIAB the Zane family was very dysfunctional going by the info we gain along the road. It is quite improbable that Willi would return into such a foster family. Hell, even full blood-related Willi was not all that eager to return and he had even closer ties.

I don't think I've seen any teasers, so can't comment on those.
Being sceptical is fine, and understandable, to some degree I am as well. Still, we haven't seen the game yet.
