When this universally-disliked change hits home, Ocean is once again going to retcon the story back, increasing the ever-widening update wait.

No, if the new target audience does not respond, it will simply be abandoned, this is basically the silver bullet for WIAB, there was no audience to pay for it and it went out to find a different one.

There's manga called Bleach, Tite Kubo is its author. Kubo is a fantastic artist who thinks up cool shit and draws some SLICK designs but can't write plot to save his life. Ocean is the Kubo of VN's.

I’ve been feeling pretty conflicted about the update honestly. I might understand why the incest content been removed, and I respect that decision, but it still feels odd to experience the story without those original family dynamics. I’ve been following this game since like the old Chapter 2 circa, and for me, those relationships always felt like a big part of the main plot and continuity, even with SG to some degree. Seeing Leia no longer as the MC’s sister, or Helen not being his mom, just feels... off.

I’m really hoping Ocean can rework things in a way that still keeps the emotional depth and coherence of the story and not make mess. I'm fine without incest, but I have my doubts about Ocean as a writer lately.

It will never hold the same weight as what was established before. I do not need that to be part of the story, but as a narrative device, once that dynamic is introduced, the story is irrevocably shaped by it. Removing it later will always leave an unfillable void. The plot points that were informed by that dynamic will never hit the same when rewritten, because it is simply not the same, it cannot be the same.

That on top of the massive time investment this project has been from the start... Its laughable honestly.

At this point, write the goddamned story as it was meant to be or don't write it at all.

Yeah, it made sense for him to run away, and it made the plot interesting as we explored taboo and forbidden stuff. Now, we’re just encountering the usual landlady/roommate interactions, and it feels really awkward.

he should focus on a single game and universe, the whole "oceanverse" is not panning out. the relations between the characters and the story itself are way too convoluted for what they should be. all that only adds surface level depth and more confusion for the player. he has now decided to neuter both his games and for what? he still got banned on patreon. i think if he ever wants to actually finish a game he has to give up on these both and start something new. if he doesn't both of them will remain in a state of perpetual "remakes".

I don't want WIAB to flop, i really don't. I feel like WIAB and Summer's Gone can really have that good connection but I think it's time Ocean work with a fellow writer or something.
