I think it's closer to molestation.
I think it would easily be classified as rape. It's a non-consensual sexual act. Sleep sex is also rape, rape doesn't necessarily have to include violence or forced entry, it's about consent. Molestation is more like touching, groping, kissing etc. or maybe even verbal abuse.
So yes, all those VNs that feature sleep sex... the MC is a rapist. And if it's "just" touching etc... it's molestation.

Sammy could face time in prison for the prank he pulled, it's rape. The MC... probably not, Nat was a willing participant. But he could be charged with filming revenge porn. That party really can bring out the worst in the MC (and Katie to a certain degree).

Yeah, that's why I decided to just grab Debbie by the pussy and leave the party early.

I don't want to be a part of something that would only be used against me later on.
The true chad move is to go along with the plan till Natasha is ready to ditch Roger for the MC and then tell her to fuck off anyways. That way not only do you prove that they are terrible people who don't really care for each other, but you also don't end up doing anything immoral or illegal.

Because honestly that whole scene is fucked up, probably the worst thing the MC can do, closely followed by the Elaine guilt path. And I hope, by the end, there are some severe consequences for everyone involved in that mess.

Might be, but it would be very harsh since it happens in the very early stages of the game and the plot kinda implies it's the "best ending" for the party sequence.

Maybe it would just end in a moral scoff or something.

(not sure that the word scoff actually exist, i'm too lazy to check. English is not my first language and sometime i find out i know some english words i didn't know i knew. Like plaster. Why do i know what plaster is?)

And the "Neo - The Chosen One" move is to retroactively change the Matrix by altering a variable when you find out your past is going to haunt you when Nat tries to blackmail you... :ROFLMAO: I know I am horrible! But I want to have my cake and eat it too! Please devs, forgive me!

At that time I didn't spoil myself using a walkthrough or so and yes, to me it looked as if successfully pranking Nat is a prerequisite to winning over Katie's heart... so I went through with most of it (but not all). Even though I felt terrible about it. In hindsight I would draw a line in the sand before things escalate too much.

My biggest problem is that the only conceivable way for any of the plan to work is to have one or more people sleeping together consensually or otherwise. There was no other way to do it I guess. And so far the only one paying their dues is the MC. Not Katie or Sammy or anyone else really.

Technically the girls, MC and Sammy are all accountable for the events of the night. I don't know how the fellony is called in english, when someone talks someone else into committing a crime.

The scenario would be:

MC - Revenge porn, talking Sammy into rape.
Sammy - Rape
Nat - 'Talking mc into revenge porn'.
Debbie and Lily - 'Partecipating in a criminal activity'

Sorry for the lack of correct technical terms.

Yeah, the whole thing is a shit storm. But it was Sammy who offered to "help". The MC didn't have to convince him of anything.

Right, now that i think about it, Sammy didn't even share what his plan was. He just was in a 'hold my beer' mode.

You aren't the first to mention that and are quite right.

Well I am also guilty of that, in my first playthrough I went along with the plan cause I wanted those sweet sweet Katie points. But I didn't expect it to turn out that way, I figured the plan was to distract Natasha while Katie 'deals' with Roger. But then the MC picked up the camera and went all in, in every sense of that term.

I have never chosen that option again in my countless successive playthroughs. And I lost respect for Katie because of that. Though I don't think even she expected it to go that far and actually felt bad about it afterwards. And the MC being the high functioning sociopath that he is, was also able to replicate some emotions resembling guilt.

I get that. I guess what I was trying to say is that you cant go along with Katie's plan even if you wanted to. The only way to help her is to take things to a whole other level because it's written that way. That's why I call it a trap. With all the other player choices pretty forced scenes like that are just jarring to me.

I'm on a playthrough now where I left the party. The first time ever because it's written in a way that to me it seems like that staying was the "correct" outcome of the night even though it's kinda fucked.

If i don't recall bad you can go half the way through the plan 'shying out' sometimes in the basement, but i'm pretty sure Nat gets mad in that case.

That's the turning point. It's stay and just go with it or leave and be picked on for wussing out. It doesn't go on very long but still better than going through with it I think. That's just Katie being Katie though. At the point where Katie leaves with Roger and you decide to stay or not she doesn't even get that mad. I think it's only one line like "OK whatever, just go.". Katie gets more angry.

I think that goes back to what's imo both the strength and somewhat of a weakness of WTHI, that is it's main character. The MC isn't just an extension of you, the player. He's almost his own person, now you can direct his actions, but at the end of the day he is gonna remain true to his own nature.

He is a mischievous and chaotic individual with relatively low impulse control. So if he is with a beautiful young woman who is ready to do the horizontal jogging with him, 9 times out of 10 he's gonna go for it, especially since at that point in story he's not in a committed relationship with anyone.
