UPDATE: Chapter Two Status – December 4, 2020
(as posted on our Patreon Page)
Hi Everyone!
I hope that everyone has been doing well and staying safe, and those that live in the US had a wonderful Thanksgiving last week.
Thanksgiving here was nice, with just the wife and myself, unsure if I would be able to cook a turkey for the holiday this year because of my back surgery, my mother-in-law put together a Thanksgiving Day dinner care package and left it on our front porch for us… which I am grateful for, as I was able to do a 21 pound turkey for Thanksgiving, but didn’t have the strength and ability to make all of the side dishes and trimmings, so my wife’s mother really helped us out!
And for those of you wondering why the wife didn’t… my wife can’t really cook, she can bake like there is no tomorrow and bake all manners of goodies that would make your mouth water, but she honestly can’t cook… she didn’t even know how to make hard boiled eggs when we first me, so cooking is my responsibility in the marriage.
I don’t mind, really, I got my first job as a cook when I was 14 years old and worked as a cook at other restaurants (working as a writer in the Comic Book industry didn’t always pay all of the bills). Additionally, like my father (before he passed in 2012), I find that cooking relaxes me… and apparently also one of my little brothers as well.
So, yeah, I am the cook of the house and don’t mind it… and also had a very nice turkey, and thanks to my mother-in-law helping with the other dishes, had a really nice Thanksgiving with the wife this year.
I paid for it, was hurting by the end of the day and had to fall back on the pain killers and muscle relaxers till that Saturday to stop the spasms, but a nice Thanksgiving.
AS FOR THE GAME…
…I’ve been hard at work going through and doing all of the Sprite rendering for it, I didn’t hit my 5,000 mark like I wanted to last week (had forgotten it was Thanksgiving till it was almost upon us and needed a couple of days to heal and relax after doing the turkey), but nearly completed with them now.
I have found the majority of the character sprites are taking around 1 minute (or slightly more) to render out, so doing 1,350 renders is taking around 1,350 minutes (or slightly more) to render per character… or 22.5 hours to accomplish for each character.
As noted in my last update, two weeks ago, the Archangel Gabriel character took longer to do, because of the density of her hair mesh… for her it was taking anywhere between 8-10 minutes per render, so it took nearly 5-8 days to finish all of her sprites, but at least she is done now and won’t ever have to worry about her again, unless she changes outfits and/or makeup in the game/story.
Additionally, I spent quite a bit of time with
Epadder and
Sierra3 trying to make sense out of the work that I had previous done on “
Chapter Two” of the prologue, trying to understand what I was doing and thinking nearly a year ago while on painkillers and trying to get the Remasters of “
Wicked Choices: Book One” and “
Chapter One” of the prologue to “
Wicked Choices: Agents of Karma” done for all of you.
I think we’ve been able to untangle that mess good enough to get back to work on it, had to make some serious tweaks to the story to keep story continuity… because I sort of messed up while I was on the pain killers and had something that needed be adjusted to make the story flow a little better and not confuse everyone… so, once that I am finished with the two remaining Character Sprites that need to be done for “
Chapter Two” completed, then I can finish off the remaining renders and get them to the programmer and get that chapter assembled for release to everyone.
Within a week or so, we should have a better understanding of when that release will go out to all of you, but this “
Chapter Two” release has a
LOT of working parts, plenty of choices for all of you to make and different things to try… so the pathing system that
Epadder created will come in real handy for some of you, as well as, the gallery to see all of the images that you’ve unlocked or still have yet to unlock in it.
Speaking of which, I best get back to it… rather show you than tell you and can’t do that sitting here talking and taking up all of your time… so, let me leave this by saying:
THANK YOU for your belief in us and our project, thank you for your continued support and for the new people who’ve recently joined us on this adventure we are creating for everyone! We could and wouldn’t be able to do this without
ANY OF YOU and your support, so
THANK YOU!
Have a good weekend and I’ll talk to you all soon and keep you updated!
