I love the spirit of this game, and played an hour of it last night... holy jank. Idk if I'm going to spend anymore time trying this, but I can appreciate the vision and hope the developer gets enough funds to make a team and refine this into something great.
It's gotten A LOT better from what it was, so I'm personally pretty optimistic. I've played the game maybe 50-60 hours over multiple versions and the older ones were often completely broken in interesting ways, like you losing all your active quests when entering a dungeon. After he put the game on Steam the dev seems to have gotten serious about fixing all the jank, even though there's still a lot of it left.

Man I love it when the enemy has totally "evaded" the arrow that is currently sticking out of their eyehole.

But really, why does a game with real time combat that has dodge / block mechanics have a turn-based esque "evade" mechanic? It just shouldn't exist. It's annoying to deal with some random level 2 wolf "evading" 5 attacks in a row and it's too abusable for the player too. Grind high enough Light Armor and you auto-evade everything to the point of being nearly invincible. It's no good.

I think Formasual answered most of your questions already. When I speak about 'the Steam Version', I am just referring to the build number, not a particular site or location that I got it from.

As the others mentioned, there is only 1 place in the entire map that you can find dark iron ore, now, and that is in the dungeon, The Hollow Tunnels'.
That dungeon is on the far southern end of the map, placed on the side of a cliff, near the water's edge, on the opposite side of the map from the Ogre/Troll Base. If you are having problems finding it, I can post a screenshot of the map area where it is located.

Yes, the Hollow Tunnels was the closest dungeon to the game start area.
Personally, I really doubt that the dev moved the dungeon because it was 'such a dangerous dungeon for newbies to encounter'. Especially since the character is spawning into the game right next to the hardest zones in the game, The Desert, with no warnings or gating at all.
Well.... if i recall he actually did say this in discord or something to the effect (but not entirely confident of my memory) - but you're right about the desert (on other hand I think we can say applied consistency in game logic approach is not exactly his strong point)

You can also find it randomly in locked dungeon chests, but that's obviously not a reliable source.
This is true I keep forgetting he added a random bit in these chests, but there are a lot of chests to be found in the dungeons and also outside most chests will have some. Initially I tried to go into Hollow Tunnels where it used to be thinking I'll get a little to start my armor, but it appeared to have changed back to the way it used to be several builds ago. Hollow Tunnels used to be basically identical to the Grave of False Kings so I just thought it was changed back because of how laggy Hollow Tunnels had become. Was surprised when I finally went into the Grave of False Kings and realized it was actually Hollow Tunnels.

True true I don't particularly like this mechanic either. Absorption is good, but I agree with your assessment about evade not really having a place with this kind of combat. Especially when your arrow they evaded is jutting out of their head. And yea sometimes monsters are spawned in with high Evade and seem to not be able to get hit from attack after attack. Trying to fight mid level enemies early on that should be easy enough to kill end up defeating me because they just evaded everything until I lost all my health.

I kind of like that the mechanic exists, since you have to make light armor be worth something and it being easier to evade attacks in makes sense. It just needs to be refined and balanced so you can't "dodge tank" everything. And yeah, the arrows enemies dodge should just vanish instead of sticking into them.

One possible way to make it fit realtime combat better is having a "dodge bar" resource that's spent when you do a dodge animation and the bar refills faster the higher your light armor skill is. And the lighter your armor is, the bigger your max dodge bar is. Adding an animation like that will of course bring its own problems, when you can already get knocked through walls in dungeons...

I remapped some of the commands because the original keys weren't suitable for me. The "dodge" and "sprint" don't work. There's the possibility to delete EnhancedInputUserSettings.sav and revert back to original settings but that would defeat the purpose of changing them in the first place. Has anyone experienced this problem? If so, did you discover a workaround?

In this version I've noticed that the Alluring Staff is lost if you fat-finger-fumble putting into the Hotbar. It first happened in a dark dungeon on rock, and I looked all over (wearing the earrings) and couldn't find it. Played from an earlier save and it happened again on a sandy area by an Ogre/Troll Camp. Nothing but sand, and flat so no rolling bag. I purposely dropped my rocks, and they were right there, easy to retrieve. Be careful ... you won't get another.

I remember someone else mentioning that weapons and such disappear instantly if you drop it, but resources and foodstuff will linger around on the ground for a while. I THINK it was happening on the previous version (8.6.1), but I cannot recall for certain. It is definitely something newer that has changed.

I have seen it happen with old tools and weapons that I had upgraded. Dropped a bronze sword, ax, and pickax and they all vanished immediately. However, some excess wheat, fiber, and cloth I was getting rid of happily sat on the ground for a few minutes.
