When I start the game it gives me a fatal error, I tried to look in C/user/user/appdata/local/wickedIsland/saved/config/windows and I'm missing Engine.ini and gameusersettings.ini, can someone give me these two files i'm missing please
Personally, I would suggest that you delete the entire wickedisland folder in appdata\local. When you delete that wickedisland folder and then launch the game, it will autogenerate all of those files again.
I have played this game through a few updates and deleting that folder before you start the game can clear up a lot of errors. Yes, it does delete your saves, but I have run into enough problems where the Dev has updated or changed basic game interactions and older saves are not always compatible.

One question I have: Have you played an Unreal Engine game before?

If you haven't or you are just not sure, go to this folder and run the executable in that folder:
WickedIsland0.8.5.7\Windows\Engine\Extras\Redist\en-us
It is a prerequisite setup for the Unreal Engine itself. Even if you have played other UE games, it won't hurt to run it anyways and let it install.

I did as you said, I installed from \Windows\Engine\Extras\Redist\en-us and deleted the wickedisland folder in appdata\local and the strange part is when I start the game it gives me a fatal error and I checked if it autogenerated the files and they don't appear at all I completely deleted the game and reinstalled it, but the same problem appears, fatal error, I don't know what else to do, honestly

I can make a few suggestions, but honestly, I have no idea why you are getting a fatal error message. If the game isn't even generating the gamesettings files, it sounds like the game is crashing even before the game loads.

I can upload my copy of the game settings file for you, but I do not have any engine.ini file anywhere on my install. There is nothing in the appdata folder and nothing in the game folder.

The only other thing I can think of for you to try is to go to this location, WickedIsland0.8.5.7\Windows\WickedIsland\Binaries\Win64, and try running the wickedisland-win64-shipping.exe file.
I remember a game I played a few years ago and at one point that was the file that I had to use to make the game launch. I can't remember what the problem was that caused that, but multiple people were having the same issue and running that win-shipping.exe file allowed the game to run.

Have you ever run this game before? If this is the first time you have tried playing this game, what are your system specs? This game is pretty demanding on hardware and I think some older machines and laptops with older integrated GPUs have issues.

If all else fails, you might want to look at updating your graphics drivers IF you have never updated them before. If you have updated them in the last 6 months to 1 year ago, you should be fine and I wouldn't worry about updating them.

Did the cheats get removed, or did the key to open them change?

I did use the Search thread method first and came up empty on answers, clarifying before anyone suggests that method.

The cheats are still there. The default key is the / key on the number pad.
Pressing the / key on the main part of the keyboard won't work, it has to be the / on the number pad.

You can, also, check to see what key is mapped to bring up the cheat menu. Just press the Esc key, click on Settings, and then click on Input Settings. In that area are all of the key mappings for the game and one of them should be Cheat Menu.

Thank you very much, it works now, I appreciate it

Same, unfortunately, but fortunately some bugs do get fixed or improvements made that otherwise made it unplayable compared to a previous build. This is a bit like the pool boy cleaning the pool, but ruining the lawn. The lawn care specialists come to fix the lawn and ruin the fence in the process. Fence repair guys comes and fixes the fence, but busts a gas line... I mean its still progress, but it just doesn't always seem like it.
Love this description of doing gamedev, spot on!

Anyone had luck getting passed the create character screen? I make a character, but I can't save preset or click start. I click them, get the sound, but nothing happens, it's like they're dead buttons...

BTW the arches mark the dungeons?
Yes, the arches mark the locations of dungeons.

You may not need this, but: If you have problems winning against nightmares or groups of enemies, you might want to wait until you have crafted better gear. The dungeons are pretty small and there are usually clusters of monsters that you have to fight. A bow might help some to pull away single monsters but be prepared to fight a couple enemies at a time.

I haven't had any problems with the character creator on the current version (0.8.5.7).

Other people have mentioned that some of the hair styles can bug out the game, but I don't know if that is still an issue or not. Styles 1-4 seemed to be fine, but other styles have had issues for some people.

Have you played this game before? You might need to delete the Wickedisland folder in the Appdata\local folder, sometimes settings from older versions can cause issues with current versions of the game.

No it's my first time playing, I can make a character with no issues, but I can't click any of the buttons for some reason. No matter what I go into, it does the same thing. Say I go into load game, I can't click back from there either. The only buttons I can use are on the main screen, after that tho, everything is dead buttons.

The only thing I can think of is that your hardware might not be good enough to handle the game. This game is pretty demanding on hardware and if your machine is old enough or you are only using an integrated GPU, you might not be able to play the game.

I can make a few suggestions, but I have no idea if they will help or not:
(I know you said the buttons freeze up on you) If you are able, go into the settings>Graphics and change the graphics preset to low and see if the game will launch. The game might look like crap, but it might get your game going at least.

The only other thing I can think of is to try editing the gameusersettings.ini and change the preferred RHI to DX11.
The file is located here: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\WickedIsland\Saved\Config\Windows
The section you want to change is this: (I am assuming it probably says DX12).
[D3DRHIPreference]
PreferredFeatureLevel=sm5
PreferredRHI=dx11

If you are not comfortable editing the file, I posted a copy of my gameusersettings.ini file a few posts back, you can try downloading that, delete the ini file that is currently there and then extract the one you downloaded into that folder.

I appreciate the help, but I'm not interested enough to go through all of that just to try it out. I'll just skip out on this one and consider it a loss. I doubt it's an issue with my machine, I can run about any AAA game I want to with tons of mods without any stutters, I highly doubt the opening menu of a game is going to cause my machine to completely fail like this.

Well, tested this version, and so far, it as been a nice experience : a lot of the game breaking bugs have been fixed.
Though I get some random 5 second freeze during my run.
Will report on game breaking bugs I encounter

Out of curiosity, on which drive (if you have multiple) did you extract the game before trying it? And what's your OS ?
