The protagonists are handled similar to gtaV, you start off with Max for the first bit of the story, then unlock Maya at a certain point and continue the story with her. But at a certain point you can also switch between the two. Generally speaking both will have a similar amount of main and side content.
Dear Steve,
good morning

we loved the new character called 'Geneva' made from body presets of Shey (in 23.06.2023 last build version)
she's tall & beautifull (nice addicition into the game) (y)

I don't want to sound unreasonable saying that they have absolutely "nothing". What I meant was, considering all the story that was promised, they are back on stage 0. The beach demo is gone and the thing that took it's place is awful.

I'm not a dev myself, but I recognize the ammount of time and resources they've spent in the beach demo, and I was sure the team was just building upon it. For my surprise, it is not the case. Probably they're goin to reuse all assets and voice acting from the demo, but still a huge turn that I can't understand (if not just to delay the game even more, on purpose).

For those who like sandbox pose and animation gameplay (which is not my case), WL is probably one of the best games available.
The demo was meant to showcase various gameplay elements, it was never intended to be part of the finished game (unlike the current WIP quests and map)

Unfortunately my discord server wasn't added to the OP so people have to find the link on their own.
Will be posting from time to time to make it easier to find, here some goodies.

I think this, along with the then-nonexistent communication with interested lurkers on steam, was the biggest mistake the project has made to date.

Wildly misleading possible fans about the tone and theme of the game while giving the impression that development was going nowhere - and ultimately releasing the months-outdated 10.2022 UE4 build far too late to turn the opinions of the people who cemented their opinions of the the project being a carnal instinct ripoff that was never coming out.

Maybe my comment sounded unfair, I recognize it. We can't avoid becoming skeptic or even pessimistic considering how the majority of these "big projects" tend to end (or not to end at all).

I still think the Demo was a very good foundation to keep. Perhaps a little too quick for what they plan, but that could be easily fixed. If the team is preparing something even better that wouldn't fit in that map anyway, not just to squeeze some 2 years more of development, well, time prove me wrong. I actually wish to be wrong.

It was removed because they changed the engine, I think they figured that there would be no point in spending development time to port that demo to the new engine when they could've just started working on the actual quests (which they are doing).

The beach demo map wasn't really suitable for anything else, if you go off the intended quest path there's literally nothing there. Fly around with Maya in sandbox and you'll see how small it actually is. It was just a showcase for what the game might be like with more polish.

i really don't get it... why not adding the saving system yet!??? Why not having actually active checkpoints, at least, like when we have the chance of switching from Max to Maya as soon as the Max&Co yield to the agreements with Agon and his people, for example!?
C'mon... it was possible in the original village demo as soon as Max completed the ribbons challenge with Shorty, why not replicating the same checkpoint save in this new one!?

Honestly that's the only thing that's keeping me not fully invested in playing this game. I understand everything Steve and the other guys are doing and being a game dev myself I've never complained on anything they do or not do but that feature, specially when what seems the definitive beginning of the game with quests and progress gets released, should be the very first priority.
Having to restart it all from the very beginning after 3-4 hours of gameplay is something no adult, with a life and a job, can easily accept.
I'm sorry for the rant, I just hope is not useless.

Ended the rant right there: the passage to 5.2 is very welcome for me despite it was causing the game to crash instantly, when accessing the WIP new start, unless I dropped it all from Epic down to Low.
The same most likely happens to me when I'm developing my own stuff on the same engine so no complain, I now added some new RAM going from 16 to 32GB [Corsair Vengeance, 2666MHz] and a new SSD twice the size of the now old one so i could finally switch it all back to High at least and things got quite better, with RAM now used to a 52-55%.
Which means without those additional 16GB no surprise I was crashing like that and that's good news for when I finally start working on the new content introduced with UE5.2, like HillSide and the new Slay Animation projects.

WildLife now runs at around 18fps but it's ok for me, I cannot ask more to my proud old GTX 1070 [8GB] and I can finally enjoy the new content.
I hope you appreciate this conclusive sudden fresh exposure of positivity... but... please Steve&Co... scatter those checkpoints across the new map, for all the Karpali's sake!!!
