I have a gaming rig here, windows 10, start the game and get zero errors. game just shows up on task manager and then removes itself. and... no one knows wtf I'm talking about XD people just answer with "oh ye we know about this, have a nice day" LOL...

If you search through the previous pages, the startup errors and black screen errors were solved by deleting the video that plays once you boot the game up. Maybe that'll fix your issue?

You can use male characters or female. In sandbox mode you can pick whoever you want.


My question though is, do the placed torches still have a weirdly dark lighting effect? Wandering caves in the old wild life map was very difficult due to the odd lightning physics.

Which keybind do I click to customize the character?

As quoted by Adeptus Steve a few pages back (you can find his post by simply searching "black screen" on the search bar on the upper right corner (whilst changing search parameters from everywhere to this thread):
"A user on our discord had the same issue and we suggested him to do the following:
Delete the splash screen logo movies found here: \2021.12.17_Shipping_Test_Build_1\WindowsNoEditor\WildLifeC\Content\Movies\
and start the game. It could be that some codec is missing and the computer hangs on trying to play them or something.
We havent heard back from that user but id be interested in knowing if that could help you.
Our coders are also looking into a potential fix from the startup code of the game so hopefully (if that was the issue) this is sorted out of the box for future releases."

Complexity rises and it needs to be catched up somewhere washing out visuals is often a result of that and bad balancing of available resources.
Personally i have to see for myself if this really happens now and can't take your word for granted on it (i'ts very complex in context with the Streaming System and your entire System stability).
Good way to counter it for Nvidias Users would be finally implementing DLSS to gain a lot of headroom for additional Visual Fidelity recovering the looses due to higher complexity per frame over time.

In those regards you could also take a look back at some extremely old Results of the beginnings it gives you often a good indication how it was balanced out over time and what where the pro/cons of those decisions and where maybe a wrong path was chosen in the past due to changing constraints of targets.

It is very visible that the complexity rises and rises and that targets need to be adapted based on it.

The more you learn of this the better and more efficient you get for the next project and a possible remaster

I've personally had no issues getting the game to run.
Occasionally a new build will bring with it new issues, that's the nature of game development. They've all been minor on my end but its unfortunate that its been game breaking for others
Feature creep? maybe. I'm still not convinced by what I see in the story mode beta. It doesn't control well, it doesn't feel good to play, gameplay that's there is pretty shallow, reward cutscenes seem to entirely favor straight interactions so far. There's leeway for porn games with OK gameplay though and there is room for improvement.
This has one of my favorite sandboxes though, the animations are great and there's nice variety, a lot of which scratches some very specific itches. Still looks good in VR too, I'm very excited for the rest of the sandbox update.


it seems like we have a lot of posts from people asking how to do the most basic stuff. It might be smart to attach a simple "how to play the damn game" guide to the first post? Or maybe just a note that tells people to look in the key bind settings for help

The fishing village still runs like ass but in general the rest of the game runs better for me now.
