Beta test, animations and Kurt and Lauren without clothes
Hello everybody!
And so, we have some news for you. Let's start with the mini-games, namely the active beta test stage. Unfortunately, several beta testers, whom we counted on when creating past updates, can no longer help us. That's why we're now recruiting friends who might appreciate the gameplay, but have never been involved in development before. Watching their reactions is sometimes very funny.
For those who don't quite understand why we're doing this kind of testing, let me explain that we can't independently assess how balanced some gameplay solutions are. Since we are the creators of the gameplay ourselves, by the time its beta version is ready, we unwittingly become professionals in this mini-game. This prevents us from sensibly assessing how an unprepared player would evaluate such a game. I think you'll understand what I'm talking about when you play it yourself a couple of times.
Otherwise, we want to make you happy that the mini-game will not be as ruthless as it sometimes turns out to be. As some have already noticed, sometimes we are inspired by the mechanics of old flash games, partly paying tribute to the founders of the industry, and partly adapting similar game segments to the game's setting. After all, the series W.I.T.C.H. was released in 2004 and the game tries to match the spirit of that time. Initially, we thought that the game segments should also have some kind of "code from that time." But now we are moving away from this approach and making mini-games more friendly to the player. One way or another, we will soon finish developing all the game segments.
One of the funnier things we found... Have you noticed that Kurt and Laurent (the guys from Uriah's gang) have never actually had sprites with clothes? Yes, they're in the bookstore when they steal books, but they've never had clothes in the dialogue sprites. There are only their sprites from the beach, where they are wearing only swimming trunks. Well, if you haven't noticed this, then you're not the only one, because we also realized this just this week. Just at the moment when we needed their sprites in clothes. Therefore, now we urgently draw their sprites, as well as several other character sprites necessary for the harmony of the scenes in the game.
Also, we've already finished working on all the animations! The dialogues are also half inserted into the game engine, as are some of the scenes. In general, the work is going at a pretty good pace! Although we have paid too much attention to the gameplay part this time, otherwise we are already close to putting all the main elements of update 0.24 together.
Perhaps that's all for today! I think next week I will share a few updates from my personal life, because quite a lot has happened during this time and I would like to keep you informed. But more on that next time, but in the meantime, have a good week!
