Man, imagine me calling a dude who is fucking mental out on a discord I am on. Has nothing to do with defending anyone but that person is obsessed with braindrop. Its actually insane, you have to see some of the stuff he writes there... Besides, that stuff doesnt take anything from my time. 1) I did not re-enter that channel until a few months ago, and only at the REQUEST of this thread, specifically.
2) You guys already see roughly 95% of everything I post there. Which over 3 months is not actually "a lot".
3) The incident K7 mentioned was roughly ... maybe 3 responses from me going towards a "reverse-uno" hater. Nothing more.
4) K7 has me blocked/muted on this site so I didn't even know this was posted until someone else quoted it.
5) If any of you have any faith in me over the last 3 or 4 months, posted all my replies and the replies of others, including the Developer, for all to see with no censorship, this guy is STRAIGHT LYING out his ass.

i was literally at that guy's page verifying he was actually the developer on here shit-talking me for no reason when he posted that, then immediately went to my page and block/muted me
that was on purpose, and pre-meditated - he didn't just come in here on accident and be upset

if any one of the long-time regulars on this thread that i have good rapport with asked me to stop posting screenshots, i'd drop it right now, but i don't think a single person i'm on good terms with that asked me to do screenies in the first place would ask me to stop, no has for about 3 months now, so ...

Honestly, while i get the urge, as it's personal , there isn't a need to defend yourself. Any dev that comes around defending BD, i read it as either troll and/or being clueless and oblivious. Love their games and all of that, but they clearly got it twisted if they think they can run damage control for an exposed grifter at this point .

Maybe some of us are obsessed, if they wanna call it like that. Maybe it's true at this point , but from my perspective, I'm just using some down time to check on stuff and post a bit. someone had sent me something like that earlier, which is why one of my posts has the ALLCAPS disclaimer, but i might be taking things too seriously, and i don't mean Borpa obsession, honestly, he posts maybe once a week (and then only a few posts at those times) since the OCT16 fiasco ...

for me, it's a bit of a fix, like a drug...just a little bit; seeing that Discord and that Developer do the things they do - - almost like some weird, fucked up social experiment gone wrong

i suppose the last month, i *HAVE* been taking it more personally since that whole Morbil/BrainDrop/Patreon explosion when the last update went to shit ... maybe i should just step away for a few weeks, idk

Just take take Dark Blue as one example having losing a sibling stepping away from the game but had the decency to pause payments until he was ready to return. Philly paused his after completing COBD and will un pause once he got his next game ready.
These are just 2 examples of many but stand out more but I would be extremely pissed like you Eclipse since this game has no music,no planning,no multi paths, no mini games ect ect. This game should be getting updates more regular but he can't even get that right so I wouldn't worry about it your correct in what your saying and every right to question his work since you were paying towards it

In general if you have a public Discord and it becomes toxic that's one thing. You can't really control who joins it, most of the people on most public game/AVN Discords aren't actually paying for anything and have various motives for joining (some good, some bad).

However, if you have a sub only Discord and it ends up being toxic, then you may have an issue. People literally pay to be there, and if they're being toxic (or whatever other word you want to use) then odds are they have good reason to be. They may not all post, but based on the reaction score (the emoji reactions and such) a pretty decent number of BD's paying supporters agree with them.

And it's hard not to. Even as someone who generally defends devs, there hasn't been a more obvious case of a large/well-known developer taking advantage of their fans if not purposely lying and manipulating them.

This update alone (which was supposedly due last year, I think) missed dozens of deadlines, was in various stages of testing for months, and upon release, BD decided to cut 100 renders from it (about 15-20% of the total update) for whatever reason.

It's due to actions from BD that other dev's get the worse end of it then everyone else pays the price when they can't afford to continue the game.

Not everyone can afford to sub every game but one thing I do is drop them some money once they release an update just like buying some DLC on the major platforms.

BD doesn't know how lucky he is and really hope that comes crashing down. Just look at Ceolag the dev for the Neverwhere tales he is in regular contact with his patreons and with people on here, doesn't even get the subs BD has. His game is far better but when he released it and then it got leaked quicker than he thought he would. This caused him to lose a load of money not making hardly anything from it due to the tax laws of his country.

Maybe those discord supporters of his should have a good look elsewhere when dev's are developing and getting little in return while BD does nothing takes everything but give nothing back

I don't know exactly what's going on with you and K7, it really seems like there's more behind what you're both saying, I don't want to delve into the details of it either.

I can only say that K7 is clearly speaking from unfamiliarity with situation, everyone, whether on his discord, patreon or even here on the forum, knows that BD is not doing things right. Another thing is whether they accept it or not, but as long as they don't have some mental problem you can realize how screwed up what BD does is.

The only ones who sincerely defend BD are those who are not well informed of the actions of this developer and those who are new to the game, the latter will soon become disillusioned.

A while ago I saw a comment that perfectly explains, from my perspective, why most BD fans defend him so desperately and it is: the sunk cost fallacy.

But well I'm getting off topic, what I wanted to tell you briefly and concretely is that I feel like you're taking it too personally and giving importance to the situation with K7 that it doesn't have, in short, if he doesn't like you and he blocked you for no reason then it's his problem, you should ignore him and continue with your thing because you should care if he blocked you, a sign that he's not interested in what you have to say, well that: you should return the favor in the same coin.

But not only with K7 but with everyone, both in real life and on the internet, it is good to be reciprocal with what you receive.

I'd really have to hope that the real K7 has better things to do than to waste his time performing damage control for one of the worst scammers to ever enter the AVN market. I'd be a little disappointed if that's not just a fake using his name for attention.

When they were starting out, BD often promoted K7's game and talked about their bromance so it's not very surprising that he would defend him now. I also personally always wondered if they didn't write for each other's games or something since the writing is pretty similar, or at least it used to be.

Dev Report #25 (October 14th, 2023)

Yo!

So, not going to waste any time.
The update will not be today and as a result, I will be pausing pledges for November.
Let's talk about when it will be released.

So, I bit off more than I could chew. This update has expanded to a point where I've fallen into some old issues and I'm struggling with finalizing it. Namely with making the scenes flow into each other.
So, as I have no interest in falling back into the headspace I was in half a year ago... I'm going to do the same thing I did to get out of my situation back then before I'm actually there.
I'm splitting this update into two parts to help make it easier for me to finalize mentally. One 400 render update to be released on the 19th. And one 300 render update to be released on the 24th. And then episode 13 will be released on the 31st. Each of these releases will be tiered by an hour. (So it unlocks for a lower tier every hour instead of the usual 24 hours)
I do deeply apologize for taking this much time and failing my goal. I take full responsibility for the lack of updates recently as it has been a result of poor planning and execution on my end.

I do plan on achieving the remainder of the goals I set for October.

With that said... it brings me to something I've wanted to speak on for a few weeks now. It doesn't take a mathematician to realize that the 52/52 isn't going to plan. So I want to talk about it.
The 52/52 started as a way to help relieve me of my release anxiety and to get content out in a consistent way. I set the goal of 100 renders a week and I had the mindset of pretty much just releasing whatever I was able to make in a week.
Well, the issue with that has been the releasing whatever I've made. I've really struggled with releasing something just to release it. I feel shitty putting something out that I don't feel is worth downloading and playing yet. I tried to solve one issue by drastically going in the opposite direction.
Which is why I took extra time on almost all of the releases so far. I wanted the scene with Bailey and Rainn to be played all at once, I was having fun with the Skye scene and wanted to expand it, I wanted to have all of the traveling to Florida at once.
Essentially I just want to put out a fun experience and I know most of you guys would have fun even if those were all segmented throughout weeks but there's just something about it that has irked me that I thought wouldn't.
It's just time for me to accept that this isn't the answer to my issue.
So... something has to change but I don't want anything drastic. I know I struggle with larger releases so I'm really not interested in going back to that. I feel like the easiest compromise is just to release scenes as they are completed. I categorize scenes essentially as events. So for instance the events listed in the image would all count as a scene.
Sometimes scenes will be shorter though I don't think I'd bother releasing anything under 100 renders, sometimes they'll be in the 250-ish range.
I feel this is the easiest way to fix my current issue. The main goal is still 100 renders a week and to release the equivalent of that in whatever time allotment I have to finish a scene.
