Few reasons for that, as mentioned prior, it's been on this site for like 5 years. It also started off really well and got a ton of support.. That translated into likes pretty easily. Takes no thought to Like a post, and most of the time, if the game takes a nose dive, most people won't go and take away their "like", which gives it a more false presentation of being better than it is.
Also need to keep in mind, most playing WVM aren't playing it for a deep story that is compelling. Most play it to read a silly story with an OP MC, who gets his pick of girls, and sometimes there is a little bit of basketball.
Side note and JMO, best way to search through games is weighted averages of the 5 star system, and use some tags to help narrow down what you want. Typically anything below 3 is a safe bet to ignore (that's been my experience at least, maybe there are a few that didn't get a fair shake). It is far more likely someone will go back and adjust a rating to be more reflective of what the state of the game actually is, rather than going off likes.
