you dont need it, you will get plenty of points in game.
just completed it, researched everything, built everything, only one i cant complete is Paradise, because i helped free man instead, the 2 other nations i have defeated.

been a while since i actually played this but damn is this repetitive and boring.
the fights are even more boring than the usual jrpg ones it's just one button
and the same text over and over again
and the migro management is boring to the few cgs aren't worth the time.

no idea why i waited for this update or this game at all...

Yes. You can beat the game and start the "New Game+". It'll give you more points.

No problem. Though, I should, probably, point I tell you about actual bad ends as gameovers. Lose a battle isn't hard at all, aspecially since it completely random (even in second chapter, where you will get couple of skills/spells you can use).

You need high enough Charisma (about 150, iirc) AND a right choice.
