Usually if the saves don't work in the beta, they will not work in the bug fixed version neither. I decided to play from the start and I didn't see crutial bugs, just in one image I needed to click in ignore.Depend.
If you want to have a chance to break your saves, run in errors, get strange behaviors (like gender changing gender), and want to whine about all of that here, you can download the beta (which by definition is an unfinished and not fully tested version).
But if you prefer a good quality experience, is better to wait until the official release.
I have the same problem, as many other players. But not only that, the animations don't run smoothly inside the game in my laptop. It seems like Renpy becomes slower when there's more content inside, I didn't have this problem in earlier versions. If I play the animations outside renpy, there's no problem. But it seems the game requires a better optimization, or at least for slower pc's (the most of the players). The only issue I got from this beta, is that my CPU temp would get stupid high during any animated scene.

What about making a poll asking if the animations run correctly, smoothly?
