Depend.
If you want to have a chance to break your saves, run in errors, get strange behaviors (like gender changing gender), and want to whine about all of that here, you can download the beta (which by definition is an unfinished and not fully tested version).
:ROFLMAO:
But if you prefer a good quality experience, is better to wait until the official release.
Usually if the saves don't work in the beta, they will not work in the bug fixed version neither. I decided to play from the start and I didn't see crutial bugs, just in one image I needed to click in ignore.

The only issue I got from this beta, is that my CPU temp would get stupid high during any animated scene.
I have the same problem, as many other players. But not only that, the animations don't run smoothly inside the game in my laptop. It seems like Renpy becomes slower when there's more content inside, I didn't have this problem in earlier versions. If I play the animations outside renpy, there's no problem. But it seems the game requires a better optimization, or at least for slower pc's (the most of the players).

Opinions recreation

What about making a poll asking if the animations run correctly, smoothly?

did rec update to renpy 8? if did then that's issue since renpy 8 uses some "tricks" which older hardware can't bend.

I don't know. It's not the only game with this problem, I played Become a Rockstar fine until the last release, where the animations stopped runly smoothly. There are games like Fashion Bussiness with bigger animations, not only in duration but in size, and they run fine. That game has animations that weigh even 40 mb each. I just checked and they use mkv instead of webm like here, maybe that format is the problem.

But it seems that Fashion Bussiness uses a renpy version from march of 2021 and this one from september of 2022 (I just checked properties, I'm not sure about it).

So, that would be the problem as you said. Is there a way to solve it?

Seriously? Arguing over what is and what isn't spoiler worthy? well at least I got a small laugh out of it.

file should be attached. its a fresh download new save as the old one did not work so really there should not be an issue(usually)
Yes, now I remember that. It's a bug in the Beta... it is fixed in the pending SanchoMod update though. Apologies, I forgot that I sorted that already. You should be able to skip past if you prefer to continue playing unmodded though.

just ignore that, it's fixed internally.

did rec update to renpy 8?
nope.

Regarding the videos:
I'm using vp9 with high quality settings for some videos (I'm talking hdr compatibility). I don't know the exact reason behind it, but Renpy always had a problem with video decoding, so the better the video quality, the worse it gets.
Sometimes you can even notice that on high end pc's. A simple solution is higher video compression (worse quality), which I won't use for the normal release, but a compressed version will come eventually.

No, it's 7.5.3... but folks will still benefit from running all RenPy via the dedicated GPU. Integrated chips suck for any serious animation of any sort (I'm calling you out Intel).

FYI, see above. If folks have any respectable dedicated card (even on a lappy) then they can run via that card and it will be smooth as ice. I've modded a ton of VN's and have half a dozen bench testing units and all run everything fine, even the 5+yr old machines.

recreation, before you run off this evening: Since I've been working so quickly the past 48hrs I didn't log separately all the little fixes I made... but if I release this stable mod update (that makes the beta completely bug-free) if you want, I made comments throughout that are searchable. I did this really for me later but you might benefit from some minor bugs you don't already know about. I went through everything with a fine-toothed comb this go-round. I'm cleaning up my Core code now to final test but I've performed multiple speedruns with every variant of choices I can think of with zero issues... all while the mod is doing it's thing in the background.

Just a heads-up in case it assists you at all. Regards.

Yes, webm is typically used for vp9 encoded video and vp9 is one of the worst performing formats if you don't have hardware support for it.

Well duh. It's one of the most modern, most (size) efficient codecs there is. That obviously comes with some tradeoffs.

What I wanna know is, why was Ward so obsessed with taking John (MC) down? Was he best buds with John and Ellie's dad or something?

Something wicked this way comes....

04/05/23 Note: Regarding v0.8(beta), recreation doesn't release betas and I generally don't mod betas. I'll start updating the mod Core but don't hold your breath for a beta professional mod release... it's really not in anyone's best interest, especially if I'm to insure the integrity of your saves and playthrough experience as intended by the developer. I'll post any updates in the mod's thread. Regards.

SanchoMod now updated to v0.7.5
Bad Memories - MultiMod Edition

Fine, mod gets pulled from OP that works on the last known true release due to a broken testing build being leaked. Well, here's your update for said testing version:

Solution to problems:
Don't play an unauthorized beta release.
The post above yours solves all of it, even the "Female" saves issue. I didn't intend to release out of respect for recreation but being kicked out of the OP changed my mind.. and this pro mod build should sort folks out. Since I went through every line of code I'm all but guaranteeing 100% no bugs (which will surely come back to bite me in the ass now that I just type that). Save files should be safe as long as dev doesn't change the Character variables again. If they aren't I'll sort it yet again in the next real and proper VN update.
