Hi there,

I stumbled across this gem this weekend and finished the game in 2 days. I really enjoyed it. It is one of the few games, where the story is also very interesting. I also had a good laugh at the humor of the game. Only downside is, that the game is too short.

Is there a chance, that the remake will be available this year and also will it contain some new scenes?

Having issues with the text size on Android port, changed the font size zoom too 125%, it enlarged for a short period then the game black screened after reloading the text has gone tiny with no chance reading. Tried changing the slider with no luck.

Never heard of anything like that before. Try deleting the persistent file from both save locations and then restart.

Managed to sort it, it was the option for "sliders" that changed text size and person icon/image on the left.

News Alert!

I realise I have not been very active here for a while (nearly a year) but that is going to change as of now!

Beneath a Neon Sun Status Update
Unfortunately the news here is not good at all. As some of my subscribers might already know from other news sources, this game is basically kaput.

In February I had a catastrophic hard drive failure. We are talking about losing everything connected with this game with the exception of the Daz files and the current build (which thanks to github is stored off site). This means all development files have been lost. This includes any changes not synced via git, all textures, custom images, documents, and any other piece of non-implemented code. None of this is recoverable and I have tried over the last 4 months.

I cannot even continue because many of the Daz files won't load properly because many of the textures and custom models are gone. This was a mechnical failure and seems to be unrecoverable. I still have the hard-drive, so never say never, but it looks like a forlorn enterprise at this manner.

This means Beneath a Neon Sun is abandoned. It is unlikely to ever have any more updates and the story ends here. However, not all is terrible news because making the game really improved my coding skills, skills I hope to utilise in the future.

The Wish: Redux
This leads me on to The Wish: Redux. This was a planned remake of the game I began in 2019 before the End Times™. Luckily all the files for this still exist because they were backed up elsewhere so this work could continue.

But, I found myself not wanting to do so. It's not that I don't like the game, though I didn't necessarily have a great time making it, but I have learnt so much since then and it was completed, albeit in a way that some found themselves unhappy about. So I am not going to remake the game. I know this will be of immense disappointment to fans of Mrs Hunter (in which group I include myself), but that is my decision. I have already remade day 1 and I found it very trying and boring.

Which leads me on to:

The Wish 2:
Instead of remaking The Wish I am going to make its sequel. It will be set in the same universe as The Wish. It will even be set in the same town as The Wish with many of the same locations. However, it will feature a new protagonist and new characters. Don't worry, some old familiar faces will make appearances, but it will be a new story.

It will also be coded in the newest version of Ren'Py which is based on Python 3; it will be made at a higher resolution (1920x1024 rather than 1280x720) which means it will be better quality. It will also have improved sound and maybe even voicing. Who knows!? We'll just have to wait and see.

I will post some previews soon when I have some and I'll be restarting my Discord when the first release goes out. After that first release goes out I will also reactivate charging for subscribers and there will be more paywalled material for those who support my work monetarily.

Thank you, I appreciate the comments. I think that a woman in her 40s should look like a woman in her 40s and not like a 20 year old. There will be younger girls in the game too, but no little sister that looks 13 (because ewww).

I also try to create characters that aren't just the same old models. I also try to have related characters look a little bit like each other because family members do. Hopefully, I've achieved that, though I think their noses might be just a little too big/bulbous.

You do a great job! As a guy in my 40s myself, I really appreciate all of that. I'm always grateful with games featuring attractive women who are clearly 25+, and the ones with those little sister characters are a hard red light for me. Just no.
