Maybe he's really smart and has finished the game completely, but will release it piece by piece over the next ten years? I know I would do that if I could get away with it.
Funny though how the budget (i.e., total income) for this game now exceeds the budget of some A games (and is certainly one of the highest funded indie games).
No, if that were the case he would show evidence of it and marketing material would feature all the new assets all the time. He has done no work at all since he abandoned the project. His income has dropped around 15% since abandonment, with the scammer not only not releasing anything but also not showing any evidence of work FOR 2 YEARS. What you are assuming makes no sense at all. No rational "milker" would behave like this. This is not "milking", it's a scam: https://f95zone.to/threads/dual-family-v0-98-ce-gumdrop-games.1870/page-467#post-2398851

By giving new people here this idea that he is just "milking" you are making them believe something for which there is ZERO evidence, but which happens to benefit the scammer ("oh he was working after all, better keep giving him money"). Don't help the scammer keep fooling new people. He is a scammer, not a milker.

You seem to be very angry. No need for that, I was only being sarcastic, a lot of people in this thread are.

Doesn't matter whether he's a scammer or a milker and contributing doesn't affect the end result. If he's a scammer and patronage dwindles down, he doesn't care, he moved on with his life. If he's a milker, he would have released something by now just to quiet down the critics.
I don't get the "better keep giving him money" attitude. Suppose somebody needs $12,000 (before patreon fees) and three months to finish a game. If he was getting $4,000 a month and three months pass (and a total of $12,000 is funded) and there's no release, it's prudent to withdraw funding until then. He got what he asked for, and if there is a delay, tough luck. Unless there's a good reason why the game is late and over the planned budget (and there's rarely a good reason), you want the release to happen.
There are proverbs about throwing good money after the bad and fool me once, fool me twice.

Oh come on, learn this already guys, every beginning of new month, every developer loose patrons due to denied payments, money transfer issues, patrons who decided to take a break, etc. Bigger earners loose more patrons.

So no, after two years accept this, this dev never looses patrons, don't know if he's doing some dark business using patreon as a front or his patrons are the perfect examples of sheeps.

It'd be awesome, but seeing how patron count has rebounded to ridiculous levels later in every month in the past year (per graphtreon, which is a trustworthy source), it's premature to celebrate.

But between payment processing delays, some banks verifying payments on working days and denied payments (which is a common problem for all creators, not just adult content), he'll bounce back.

Edit: And it looks like I'm not the only one aware of this, sabbathfun above also mentioned it.

Whatever it was, the game after 2 years still excites people, which means that it is very good.
But does she have real support or not, what's the difference? Everyone decides what to do, despite the fact that in this case, it looks very stupid.

Simple enough. Imagine 800 money launderers and ~50 fools who fund gumdrop despite doing nothing for the last two years, except maybe pretending to do something.

If that were the case the comments/patrons ratio on his Patreon wouldn't be abysmal (no game that is popular has such a low ratio). So no, the game is not "very good" in 2020, it's quite mediocre by today's standards (in fact, it's not a game anymore, it's an abandoned project, and it has been abandoned for longer than it has been a game). He is most likely profiting of dormant accounts who forgot they pledged. That or some other shady stuff (the alternative payment method on his site now looks even shadier).

I think the most interesting thought in all this is that we will play it if and only if it ever comes out as unlikely as it is and judge it super harsh, of course with reason. I said and only if as if you can play something that doesn't come out and decided to write this sentence instead of fixing the previous one. Anyways, the game really could have been something, I like the way it looks and some of the story elements. The game isn't anything original but for a game of this tone its what you expect. I also didn't know he had a website and you could just straight up play the game off of the site, not a bad way of doing business. But I enjoy once and a while seeing another complaint or theory or observation or what not commented on this essentially doomed scam games thread even though all our comments including this comment will amount to nothing if not a reminder in our notifications that this game exists.

It's good to see his Patreon numbers declining. I think for may followers this game became like a cult, and they blindly followed their glorious leader Gumdrop. All it took was a dose of reality, in that the game got marked abandoned. Which lead to the discussion amongst his followers and slowly they are starting to wake up.

Still too little, too late. I'm surprised gumdrop didn't release act I part X yet. It's not like he doesn't realize that the game is up and if he doesn't release anything, patron count will drop. Sure, he might have moved on, but doing just a bit of work now (like getting to, say, act II part 4? 5?) would set him up for another two years.

So I was just browsing a couple of other threads, noticed LoP mentioned on one, so I thought, why not give playforceone a quick visit to see if there's anything interesting...
...yes, there is. Dual Family v4 is featured on the front page... and people like it.
