mh after playing the beta im kinda conflicted, on one hand i respect and even admire when a dev says "i dont want to work in this anymore, i want to make something different" the renders overall look way better than before, maybe too good, like the mc before wasnt ugly but damn if he's not an adonis now and he kinda looks like a certain LoL champion and he has the same hair problem as the one from Summer's Gone and the plot seems it is going to be way over the top form the get go and what worries me the most is the issue about how often is the game going to be updated.... Honestly I'm really conflicted about this game.

Hello,

So, as mentioned in the game and in an earlier Dev Log, a Gallery will be added to the game.
I might've mentioned here and on Discord that I would mostly do "copy and paste" stuff from SG to WiAB to save time, etc.

Yeah... about that...
I created an entirely new gallery with a unique touch to it.
Cause let's be honest... Do it right or don't do it at all.

Let's go through it step by step.
You can also find a gallery rundown video link at the bottom showing the transitions etc.

Clicking the Gallery button on the main menu brings us here.
View attachment 1531215
This is the only part I copied from SG.
We have the three usual galleries here and one special gallery. In SG, the special gallery is Nami's Photobook.
Anyway, let's click on "CG Gallery".
View attachment 1531216
And you will be greeted by the character selection.
If you move your mouse over for example Helen:
View attachment 1531217
The character's name will be displayed.
Clicking on Helen will bring you to the picture selection tab.
View attachment 1531218
In the unlocked state, the images will be blurred out, and clicking on them will reveal a hint.
Coming back to the character selection.
In order to keep NTR and Non-NTR content separate, you can find a little button at the bottom right.
View attachment 1531219
Clicking on it will turn NTR on and you can access the NTR galleries.
View attachment 1531220
The characters will now be lighting up red. (These galleries are currently empty cuz there's no NTR content yet.)

2. Scene Replay
Coming back to this screen.
View attachment 1531221
Clicking on Scene Replay will lead you here:
View attachment 1531222
Scene replay is currently divided into two categories. Story and Lewd.
Hovering over a scene will make it light up and give a title. (Hovering over Daphne.)
View attachment 1531223
If we now click on Lewd:
View attachment 1531224
Hovering over a lewd scene will display the characters involved.
View attachment 1531225

3. Cinematics
Coming back one last time to the selection screen.
View attachment 1531226
We enter the "Cinematics".
View attachment 1531227
I did go for a 3-Part image design here in order to make it easier to see what's inside a cinematic.
View attachment 1531228

4. Special Gallery
If you click on the special gallery, you'll see a short note.
View attachment 1531229

The video rundown can be found

Renpy improved the performance of the transitions a lot with 7.4.X.
But it is still some kind of a coin drop if a transition goes smoothly or flickers at the end. (Short black screen.)
I have not found a way to make it 100% foolproof yet.
The gallery is also a work in progress. I'll be improving and changing things down the line.

WiAB's final will release later today, I'm still making sure that it all works and I've gotta wait for the Android version.

- Ocean
I think ocean is the definition of a once-in-a-lifetime genius

to take a simple thing like a gallery and turn it into something like this

Being an old fart, I have to reiterate this was an awesome remake and is what I've been hoping to see in the evolution of this medium for some time. My hope is that it sets a new precedent for devs on what players want. In my previous life as a tv/film producer/videographer we were always looking to raise the bar from project to project. In creative media, at least in my 40 years experience, mistakes are not failures, they are opportunities. Never trying to create a better end result builds a stagnant environment and players will get bored. In very much the same way viewers did in the late 70's and 80's when what we called "rubber stamp" production companies destroyed television. And that is something the medium has never recovered from. The next challenge for this dev is to deliver this kind of product at a rate the market demands. NOT a drawback. NOT a failure. An opportunity. When this dev is capable of doing that it raises that standard for other devs to try to do the same, and for techs to come up with equipment that will handle the work. That is how the medium grows. They have thrown out their hand, and I'm impressed, and looking forward to more. The public is both fickle and overbearingly demanding. If this thread alone doesn't bear that out for you nothing could. You have my attention, dev. Best success to you.

I don't have any experience like you do as I'm a character concept artist, but I agree with what you said as this being a great remake, I played the newest version first and then went back and played the earlier one, the bump in quality is absurd, lighting, atmosphere, sound design, etc were all immensely improved. As for your "concern" about the dev delivering more of this, if you haven't already, check Summer's Gone, their other project, everything we see in this remake is already there, the most "worrisome" part is if they will be able to balance 2 great games and deliver both.

Visually, I don’t think one can question it. It’s top notch. The pacing and the dialogue is another matter though.
Tastes vary of course, but I think the writing is very solid. As for pacing, this is essentially a new game, might want to wait to see what the next update brings with regard to pacing.

Never played this before and wanted to clear out. 0.1 has been redone. And there the game is upto 0.6? So basically 6 chapters in the game and the 1st chap has been redone?

I'm a huge fan of this...but even I think the writing needs some help. When I did an Ipatch (not knowing the original Ipatcher did something), I also made some edits to make the dialogue better (IMO of course). Some of the Engrish was...well...Engrish-y.

No. The entire game is being redone. The original 6 chapters are history. They're actually pretty damn good on their own, but Ocean is doing a full rewrite and reproduction. So at this point we have the original 6 chapters, and the first chapter of a new game.

It’s apparent that the dev isn’t a native speaker and that’s fine, but the dialogue itself is pretty clunky with how philosophical it was trying to be. I think he needs an editor or a proofreader to go over the script and basically tighten it all up into something more elegant.

And with regards to the pacing, the majority of the chapter is a mood piece more than anything, and we have quite few confirmed characters and events yet to introduce. It’s beautiful and atmospheric, but I think there’s a danger of getting lost in that aspect of the storytelling to the detriment of everything else.
