No, saves will not be backwards compatible. However, you can chose to start at Act 3 Part 1 when you start a new game. This would be the best place for you to jump back into the story (right after you defeat the Sisterhood).
Careful with playing this Novel/Game as through 2 different versions(021 and 031) none of the Saves work. Any save you have will generate Script errors and will not load. For me it was a combined total of about 14 hours wasted. My recommendation is to wait until it is complete thus saving having to restart the game due to the incompetence of the developers ability to allow saving and loading from a previous version.

I apologize for the hard feedback. For me personally, I loved the story and the complete play through. Especially becoming immersed into the Story. The only way to really appreciate the whole thing(in my opinion) is by playing it from the start. It seems that there are a number of RenPy developers that do not take into account Script mods that will affect Saves thus causing Saves to become unusable. On the bright side, MFA-0.3.1 is the last update to add content to MFA, so the game is just about finalized. In addition, when you start a new game, you can choose "Start at Act 3 Part 1" and jump straight into the new content where MFA-0.2.1 ended
Thanks for letting me know! I wanted these scenes to play even if you already had the dog available (i.e. you started at Act 2 or Act 3) so that you'd still have the chance to name the dog. However, I didn't intend for that looping behavior! I think I've got this fixed for the final release.
Interestingly, when my dog alerted in the new game before I went to the Shelter, it was named what I had named it in my previous game from MFA 3.0 - so it seems some persistent data was retained in the new 3.1 playthrough.
These are horny zombies with extreme sexual aggression as per the story. These zombies can also rape the other girls during scavenging runs if they are not up to par on combat and RNG rolls bad. The infection is what is causing even the MC and the girls to have vastly increased lust and depravity even while being controlled by the antidote.
