^that part! I know intellectual property is a thing, i’m a Musician and all (bruhcheckmysoundcloud.jpg)... but when it comes to these big-name titles that have ravenous fanbases, potential, and a fuckoff dev that bails on the title right when it starts getting decent... why not outsource? Make the shit open-source, hire new people, whatever... anything is better than getting shittalked on forums and getting your name/content sullied for whatever reason. I really don’t see why, in a community like this where most of the tools are free and the know-how is pretty easily obtainable, how is modding not keeping these alive? We see that in the usual game community with titles like Counterstrike and such. Why not here?

Technically speaking, none of these characters are under any sort of copyright or anything of that nature. I can go out and literally put ALL of his characters in my game if I wanted as long as I bought the resources. Just because he's using model A doesn't mean that I can't. I was going to do this with Dreams of Desire as that's what my patrons voted for, but Dr. Sin is a good dev and in respect to his wishes I didn't do it. There's nothing he could do to stop me though if I wanted to. My high school setting isn't in the game yet but if people asked me to put them in my game, seriously and not just fucking around, I'd probably do it.
Actually it can be. Coming up with believable scenarios is a lot harder then you make it out to be. What you have a problem with isn't with us devs, it's with scoundrels that make us devs look bad.
If you can't do the job, put your game on hold. It's that simple.
(And yes, I'm also an indie dev. iOS and Android. This is actually the reason I keep visiting this topic instead of JUST trolling...)
That's why I said a little creativity. A little is subjective though. I mean, I'm a dev as well so I wouldn't say I have a problem with devs so much as I have a problem with a lack of personal accountability. Honestly, most devs out here are legit trying to make games. My comment was morea jab at people throwing money at deem more so than at developers in general. But yeah, there are definitely some devs out there that make it harder for the rest of us. At the very least, I know for myself, I'll continue my game even with no support. I was working on my game for months with nothing and I've just now started picking up support. I agree with you, if you can't finish the game, put it on hold or tell people you have to stop/quit. At the same time, if you're supporting somebody that hasn't provided any type of update, for months... Welp, I have a patreon too and your money is totally welcome!
