You have a job to do, if you think to much about it Grant has the ways and means to make sure you fulfil your designed objective. It isn't at all though. Creating a new creative work inspired by an older work is not at all the same as just using the old work in its original form. Music, books, films etc. that are inspired by other things (so, all of them) have their own copyrights, they don't somehow inherit the copyrights of the inspirations (how would that even work when most things have more than one inspiration?)

I don't save over any previous saves. But should I have kept two saves (current "last") moving forward? i.e. did the Superhero need to have it's own save, because I thought I had started it in-game, so I should just keep moving backward in saves to fine a main game save?

Actually I just kept going backwards in saves til I found one in the main game and continued from there. Not sure what I did wrong, but I am sure I didn't understand how it worked. Thanks for such a great game.
