I've downloaded hs2, koi and koi sunshine better repacks and I've never had any problems like you describe.
I've also downloaded lots of characters(200+) for these games and they all work well. Better penetration mod is accurate and animations only break if you push body sliders beyond 100, because you normally can't, it is a mod that allows going beyond 100.

now consider the fact that I had to reverse the fallen doll one for it to look any good because that animation looks backwards and wonky to me. Like seriously, when the cawk goes in first, it pauses as if it hit a wall. And the movement is more sudden as it exits than as it comes in? how the fuck does that work...
Wish I could do more complicated animations, like being able to press something to trigger a different animation temporarely like how you can in FD:OL, but I haven't figured it out yet with clip manager and controlling other clips using clips and aaa it's so fucking confusing but I'm slowly learning XD

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think instead of the game or mods being at fault for the issues, I think what's really at fault is stupidity and lack of commitment past 1 hour to get something to work, more the latter than the former. Sure HS2 takes some getting used to but if you're not willing to invest one or two hours to get things that are CUSTOMISED SPECIFICALY FOR YOU don't shit talk anyone else for doing it.

Depends on cards - they need to use correct unsensors, not change height or body proportions, i recall high heels were messing with animations. You often go with sliders above 100 and then compensate with another slider, that lets you get free from the stock shapes.

You are absolutely right, people are lazy and don't want to learn. The whole point was that for a lot of people HS is not alternative to FD because they don't wanna mess with mods. I'm repeating this like fourth time now.

Then there is the aspect of quality and interactivity. If you stick to in-game stuff things are somewhat simple (just repack and correct cards), you got the controls for animation speed and you can easily change poses. But what you get is not exactly that great - especially animations that involve boobs, fingering was also poor if i remember. You can get much better results in studio neo but the difficulty/effort also spikes and you lack interactivity. Imagine doggy animation where the viewer has button to press that makes the male slap girls butt and send it shaking (at top of ongoing animation) - really like it in FD. Can it even be done? and just how much work it would be.

EDIT: Forgot about light mods, those add a lot to the game quality but are such a pain to set up right. DHH is easy (easier?) but to run NGS you need graphicsmod .

You can set better penetration(bp) uncensors as the default uncensor once and be done with it. Or, edit every downloaded card one by one to use different uncensors. Either way, it takes like 10 seconds to change uncensors if you don't count loading times. By the way, I've stumbled upon cards that didn't use bp uncensors only 3 or 4 times out of those 200+ downloads I've mentioned before, so chances are you won't even have to change uncensors for downloaded characters anyway.

This is wrong. You are free to change height or body proportions, as long as you don't set their values more(or less) than what vanilla game allows they won't break any animations. And by break I mean clipping problems, animations play fine. If you have to use other characters from the internet most of them are already using vanilla values to not "break" animations. SBPR was a horribly unoptimized mess that takes forever to load even on SSDs, that was the game that had everyone pretty much going "why the fuck are you doing open world, Illusion?". By comparison AI Shoujo was surprising because of how much better it ran despite being Illusion's second attempt at an open world.

Didn't play SBPR so i wouldn't know. AI was unplayable for me going sub 10fps during certain time of day and lowering settings was not giving any real fps gains. Even on the empty island the fps wasn't hitting 60.

Ahh, I suspect what happened to you might be one of those cases of Unity being Unity (I've seen weird shit with that engine, like a static main menu spiking GPU temps by going 600+ FPS or massive stutters when running a 2D game off HDD instead of SSD), but judging from comments both here and on Steam, it seems it's not that common an issue.

That said, Illusion going back to a room-based system really isn't indicative of AI Shoujo's performance, they have a history of making a non room-based game, then switching back to several room-based games before trying something else again.
