I mean Grant does own Earths military and the A-10 is one of the greatest planes ever built, so why wouldn't he use them on alien planets?

Because of Olivia. I can't imagine a woman with Down is running a restaurant.
The last woman I met with Down syndrome worked as a kitchen hand;
at the age of 25 she was still not fully legally competent - or she had been officially deprived of her legal capacity;
on the street she was rather disoriented and dependent on escort;
Others took responsibility for their actions;
And so on
Otherwise she was a self-confident, very personable woman who said what she meant relentlessly.
