It starts out as a hobby. It's new, the attention is new. It's interesting. Look I got 1,000 views! Wow, 10,000 views and 500 subs! Holy shit 250,000 views and 20 Patreons!? Eventually the novelty wears off and it becomes a straight up job. But one where you feel tremendous pressure to keep one-upping yourself.
And it is very hard to do self-employed work with open ended schedules. I hate deadlines... but I manage to finish things when I have them. Not so much when I get it done when I get it done.
Just look at Charlie and the Unicorn to see a non-porn comparison. FilmCow raised over 10x as much as he asked for, it took like 2 years, and ended up pretty 5/10. Basically everyone was disappointed in it and the author essentially had several mental breakdowns over the course of the work. That's really the median artist experience. When you hit it big, things go sideways.

He's always had one, its just that its difficult for him to withdraw the money from subscribestar, its why he is trying his best to appease patreon. Giving money via another service while 26Region can't receive the funds is equivalent to just burning money in front of him. He'd be receiving money, but it will be stuck in subcribestar. Guy is russian, maybe issues with his region or bank, who knows.
