With the new DAZ, v4.12, you can use a plane at ground level, create IK-Chains for the character's foot and that plane, and block them so that the foot doesn't move from the ground.Any tips on making sure the figure is glued to the ground when creating poses?
For example, knowing the lowest Z-axis point of the figure and set it to zero?
Sorry for asking a noob question and thank you for your input.
NOTE: It's not perfect, and if you move the character too much the foot will end up moving too, but it's a system that helps a lot.
When you use HDRI they emit light by default, but if you only want to use it as a background image you can "turn off" its light. Is HDRI counted as scene lights?
If so, should I turn off Auto Headlamp?
Avoid using headlamp unless strictly necessary (very dark images where you need to see what you have in the foreground); and still, at low levels, instead of 1.0, at 0.1
"Merge" is to add things to the scene you already have open... if you've set the stage first, you'll have to make a "merge" to include the character.difference between character merge (file --merge--choose character) and new or load character ( directly add or load new model) in scene.
If you are referring to the moment you start creating the scene, when it's empty and the first thing you are going to load is the character...well, it doesn't matter if you open it or merge it; just keep in mind that if you open it you are working with your character's file, that maybe you are using it as "master" file and if you don't save the scene with another file name and by mistake you save over it, you will be overwriting your character's "master" file
